Here's some advice if you have him; DON'T MAKE HIM HATE YOU WITHIN THE FIRST WEEK! He picks 1 or 2 people per class who he will ultimately make fun of every day for the rest of the year. He is a good teacher, and prepares you well for highschool, but he doesn't have that nice of an attitude. I managed to remain silent and get through the whole year without him even knowing my name. Not suggesting that's the best idea, but try to remain calm during the first couple days.
Continued from below. Basically, like everyone else says, good luck in his class and try to get on his good side. He can help you a lot for the future and in my culminating he saved my group by delaying the end for a few minutes so we wouldn't be below the time minimum. I do admit, some of his jokes do go over the line for some people but with some tolerance his class will be great! Seriously, good luck and work hard and well in his class. It'll help you in the future.
So far on all of the reviews it seems that a lot of people are complaining about his marking scheme. From what I know, year 2015-2016, the average is around an 84 and about six people I know have over a 90. I have a 90 right now and I really like his way of teaching. In most of the other classes I don't even listen but in his class he really engages the class. I understand why some people don't like him but do well or try hard and you end up with great skills for the future. Continued above.
Honestly if you're a freshman who has him in the near future, I wish you so much luck. He wasn't necessarily a bad teacher as he taught well and adequately prepared you for highschool but rather his personality which can either be a hit or miss. He marked unnecessarily hard, didn't give anyone in my class above an 80! I can take rude jokes but his just crossed the line. He also expected you to print like 100s of pages.. like dude, give me a break.
According to the rest of the reviews, it seems like the students are taking his "jokes" a little too seriously. Grow up. He's obviously joking and expects you to put your fragile sensitivity aside to understand that. On to the point, Mr. Peterson may be a hard marker (but not unreasonably so) and overreacts to class attendance, he is an amazing teacher and never fails to get the point across and engrave it on to your brain. Mr. Peterson knows how to teach and will help you develop good habits.
He gives to much homework, yells at you for being 1 min late, not clear in telling anything and a hard marker
Mr.Peterson knows his material and can explain it to students in a clear and interesting manner, but as others have pointed out, is a big jerk.
Where do I even start. When you tell the older students in Glenforest that you have Peterson, they're probably gonna tell you "good luck," because you're literally gonna need it. Thinking about getting over 85%? Good luck with that also! If you hear him make "funny" remarks at certain students while he's teaching-well he's used those jokes a million times. Makes you print a lot of pages each week, I probably wasted over $20? Overall not good.
even if you get mostly 100%s on the assignments he somehow will give you an 85% or lower. his marking doesn't even make any sense. just participate a lot in class.
Great teacher, can be mean and angry at times though.
He may have made fun of kids in class, but they probably deserved it. He's an amazing teacher with a great sense of humor and his main goal is for us to learn. Yes, he may be a strict teacher, but in the end I learned a great deal. Amazing teacher!
He's such a great teacher and helps everyone with anything. He is very clear in his teaching!
Mr. Peterson's such an awesome teacher! He's strict ad picky, but just so the students will work harder, which greatly benefits them in the future! You'll definitely learn a lot, but may not get the marks that you want. However, majority of his class will get 80% , so its not that bad. I thought that his marking was very strict and unreasonable, but it really motivates you to work hard!
pretty good sdfgubsidufbsidfbsdbyusbubfusybyubusdybyufbsduyfbusdbfsuyfbsydufbydsubfdsbyfdyufdbyfdsfbsdbfds
hes does not answer questions well. He is a hard marker that pushes you but not in the right way. A little joking is fine but he goes way over top and is pretty harsh at times. He is not eager to help you nor accomadate your problems.
Great! Might not be the nicest teacher, but he loves to play favorites. Make a good impression on the first day, and he'll be the best teacher ever. He kept on giving me free marks on questions that i
overall good teacher. explains things in detail and very clearly. if you dont understand the concepts you can easily ask for help. marks quite easy, despite what he says.
Hard marker. Sometimes unreasonable. He doesn't give you the marks you want, but you'll learn a lot.
hes a hard teacher for sure, increadably funny at times but hes marking is a bit too much. at least he actually teaches you and he really likes the subject. his global warming essay scares me though..
I think people need a variety with teachers. A sweet one like Mrs. Pierson, an experienced one like Mrs. Danilowitz.. And well... whatever Mr. Peterson is. o_o
peterson is hard teacher who makes fun of students for speech problems, not doing homework, disoganization and not understanding somthing. judge him as u wish, i dont think thats the right way to teach.
He is the hardest marker i ever had! he doesnt help you i fyou need it, and he just rubs me the wrong way.
Peterson is not the greatest teacher in the world. Yes, he does make fun of his classes and makes jokes, but it gets very annoying very soon, that is the only reason why his classes are memorable.
tries to be scary but isnt, and repeats his jokes to all his classes
unhelpful, unclear, makes fun of students, makes bad jokes, makes u lose interest in geo.
he thinks he's funny but he really isn't. humiliating students is not cool! and i repeat, you are NOT funny. get some new jokes.
he's cool! =) pushes us to ur limits and has high expectations but its all good too =) he's sooo funny! picks on people but of course he doesn't mean it... duh.
Taught us in a bitter fashion and appeared to have a strife with the students
Hey, SOMEbody in the school has to push us to our limits, in a strangely acceptable way.
He makes you work really hard and doesn't except anything but your best, which isn't a bad thing, but can get stressful with major projects if you procrastinate.
He isnt that bad...a bit rascist but yeah...he picked on this one brown guy over the course of the whole semester...well trying to...the brown guy dissed him up
