I had the unfortunate experience of being in Mrs. BK's class for Careers. The students in the Music department seemed to like her. However, she was late for most of our classes, barely made an effort (all we got were photocopies of worksheets she clearly didn't make herself), and had a pretty poor attitude in general about teaching Careers. I felt like she drew the short straw that year and was voluntold to teach us Careers. :(

I had Ms. Barber about 15 years ago. As a teacher, she was tough, and could be unpredictable at times, but I was lucky I knew what I was doing so I never bore the brunt of that fury. She instilled within me a love and passion for music that will never disappear. I still play music because of her and my experiences at The Woodlands, which remain to this day some of my most cherished memories ever. She embodies the Music Department, and the glory and reputation of Woodlands Music is her legacy

By far the most influential teacher I've had. Through classes, rehearsals, concerts, trips, and more, she introduced me to music and made it into a lasting passion. Best memories of high school! =)

BK is awesome! She instills the love of music in all her students with passion and dedication. I'm a sax player and she loves me. The only saxes BK doesn't like don't deserve to be liked. :)

Awesome, totally cool teacher. Amazing teaching skills and turns the worst of players into pretty good musicians. One can only hope to be as good a teacher as she has been.

I had Mrs Barber about 15 years ago and she was a great teacher! She has always been very passionate about music and we enjoyed her classes. I can honestly say she does not have anything against woodwind because I received a grade of 100% in her class and I play the clarinet! She's compassionate, caring, and dedicated to her students...... ;)

Although mrs BK knows music back to front, she is a little... favouritist. Likes girls, brass (esp. f horn) but has something against woodwind (esp. saxaphone) and percussion. She is also quite stallable if you pick your questions well.

I used to believe that Susan Barber-Kahro was a good teacher.... Now I am in grade 11... I still have one more year to go... I want to die. Someone said that she "sucks the fun out of life?" well... that is an understatement. She is an experienced teacher with little patience left. She rushes through theory and history leaving those who havent done it outside of school clueless, the class is unorganized and scattered, it becomes a nightmare. No doubt you learn but at what cost?!

she is a very very hard marker when it comes to theories (the part that i'm not good at). but she marks the playing tests so easy, anyone that can play all the notes (no dynamic, no articuation, nothing but the notes) can pass and get 70+80+ but ppl like me that play so perfectly only get 90-95, that is not what i had in mind

Very cool music teacher indeed. Definitely a leader in our department. A bit of a temper, but gets things done well. Saxes, get used to it.... its not her fault that you suck.

BEST MUSIC TEACHER EVER. Very calm and has a good sense of humour. Extremely skilled in music and conducting. She has a gentle attitude towards teaching and respect towards her students. She is a tougher marker but she does that to keep her musical standards high and to keep Woodlands Senior Band at double gold standard. Keep on shining, BK!

Ms. BK was my music teacher 10 years ago and I still remember what an amazing teacher and woman she was. She is sensitive and caring, and really wants the best for her students. Goes far beyond classroom hours to push her students. Do your best in her class and you'll be rewarded!
