it's true that a lot of the material on her notes and whatnot are not used on the tests, especially in IB. the key to succeeding in her class is studying from external sites such as bioninja. don't just depend on what she teaches in class, instead look up outlines from IB tests online and practice with those instead, i promise it helps way more than reviewing notes. if you don't understand something still, then you can actually just ask. she's actually very knowledgeable.
I just cannot learn in her class. Notes sessions are tedious and not helpful. There is a lack of interactive activities which would be helpful to strengthen our understandings of difficult concepts. Her tests are unreasonably hard and the wording is KEY, as the vocabulary you use have to be SPOT ON, or else marks deducted. I dread coming to class and I think it wouldn't make a difference if one doesn't show up to class and just acquire the notes from a classmate.
Deflects all blame and mistakes made on her part. Forces people to do these convoluted arts and crafts such as MAKING YOUR OWN DAMN PERIODIC TABLE. *FURTHERMORE* She will tell you she wants you to hand in one thing and its due in a week then make it due next damn class and your interim mark will drop because of missing assignments that she did not ask for. Terrible Teacher, Meh person
you will take notes, watch videos and NONE OF THE THINGS YOU LEARN WILL BE ON THE TEST. Her tests are super hard for absolutely no reason. She is also oblivious to everything that goes on in her class.
hard to learn in this class, not a responsible teacher. very confusing note sessions i have to learn by myself at home = time consuming
We only take notes in class and its definitely not an effective way to learn for me. We always hand in research assignments for marks and I feel like they are not an accurate reflection of an IB mark. Ms. Chan is a really nice teacher but I just feel like I wouldn't be able to learn in this class at all, I always have to do a huge amount of extra work/ redo my notes at home to get a decent grade. Class is too "chill" and not a good learning environment.
All you do in class is just take notes and do worksheets. She does a poor job of explaining but she is really happy all the time but it's hard to appreciate that when you're having a really really hard time learning. Often I have to spend hours of time at home trying to understand it.
Such a sweet woman, puts in so much effort for her students (literally wrote all her gr 12 students a goodbye note linked with a lanyard) Will make you waffles at 7am. Super approachable and easy to talk to and always willing to help
Chill and easygoing. easy A- do good on the worksheets
In all honesty, you walk into her class thinking that she's this sweet woman who's going to lead you through a wonderful path of biological knowledge. NOPE! I mean she is a nice person and all, but that doesn't change the fact that she's unprepared, late for class (with her students patiently waiting by the door at 7am) and notifies you of a test LITERALLY the night before via email. Her classes are just ALL notes, and YouTube videos that quite frankly do a better job than her.
Doesn't teach much for Bio. Very confusing, and Youtube videos explain better than her. Aside from teaching, she's a wonderful person with so much care and love for her students. Also really funny too!
Ms. Chan taught me so much about life- and nothing about chemistry. She is such a great person but I would not take her class unless you really got a knack for science. She is unclear and her tests are hard. BUT if you ask her for help, she's very helpful.
Expect a LOT of note taking. Her tests are ridiculous because nothing we learned is on there. Her assignments are hard because even if you write an essay, she keeps writing "and?" She expects you to w
She can be a pretty lazy teacher and puts off marking. Her exams can be fairly demanding of little details, but if enough studying is done, a high A is very possible. Nonetheless she was awesome.
ms chan is the best chem teacher i have ever had,,, LOVE U!!!
Very nice teacher, everyone who rated her low are stupid.
impossible to get perfect on her test, she doesnt teach what she tests on
She marks too hard! Be a nice teacher and give out perfect once in a while!
BAd teacher!! I mean nice person and all but BAD teacher, her tests are nothing like her notes and by the end of the year the "and?" on all assignments gets really annoying.
she is definitely the worst teacher I have ever met. I mean she is a nice person, but that's all. She is never in the class, and never prepare for her classes, and everytime we got a sub, we could actually learn much more
bio class = taking notes! the written parts of her tests are almost impossible to attain perfect marks............u need a ton of explaining
shes nice.but like what everyone says...NEVER in the room..always subs..but her subs are like always funni.=).if shes actualli in the room...she's ok..not realli THAT [email protected]
she is NEVER in class. She has poor teaching quality. And her tests are hard
Ms. Chan is a cool teacher... she gives her students lots of "FREEDOM" However, if you are looking of actually teacher... hmm...
eh...she goes outta the room alot...we had cool subs in her class so yeah =)
whoa.. ms chan.. shes strict..but its good for us i guess.. shes cool tho
Her tests are really hard. She is NEVER in class! we had subs half the time. She is a really nice person though.
dont have this teacher, but i understand how shes never in class..shes always in mine--and im double block.
She is a nice person...but she really cant teach......
very nice teacher, though sometimes the classes go slooooooooow for morning bio sl classes, but great fun to joke with!
She's a GREAT person! I wasn't fond of the class for the most part, but then i did *surprisingly* well on the provincial, so WOOHOO! good teacher after all! =)
All i can say about ms. chan is that she is never in class 24 7.....call her the skipping queen.
