As a student in university, I can say that I was so lucky to have Mr Stella multiple times in high school. Although it's a lot of work and you'll think he's too hard on students, he seriously does prepare you for university. I know everything my prof is teaching me and a lot of people around me are completely lost. Stay after school and ask him questions and you'll be successful in the class. He's one of the best teachers at Amherst
At the time I had him as a student, I found it difficult and wished he would ease up on his marking. Looking back, now completing my first year in Neuroscience, I couldn't be more grateful he was my teacher. He helped me so much and always was pushing for me to reach my potential. Because of him, I earned an A in linear algebra while students around me struggled. He's tough but its better to struggle in high school than in university, trust me!
Anyone who gave Mr. Stella below a 3.5 are just plainly incompetent. There is no reason anyone should fail this class. Sure, it is a bit hard to understand most of the time, but he also goes out of his way by explaining again in more detail if you just ask. Not only that, but he also offers extra help after school 2-3 days a week. My grades raised a good 10% after attending those help sessions. Again, give this man below 3.5 as a student of his, you are just a sore loser.
If you end up in his class and you are able, switch out right away. Extremely condescending, rude, and degrading to students who have difficulty understanding. Goes off on random tangents in class, half of his class time is usually spent telling you that you will never make it in university. I've had many university profs who do not treat students the way he does. Should have never became a teacher.
Stella is the worst teacher I've ever had. He is very degrading to students who are having trouble understanding the curriculum. His expectations are ridiculous for a high school student. He teaches the class as if you are majoring in math during your 4th year of university. Switch classes asap
As per the normal opinions on Mr. Stella, it is apparent that he has a wealth of knowledge on the subject of math as well as several sciences, he is more than well educated enough to be able to teach high school students, unfortunately when it comes to teaching ability he fails miserably. He gets too worked up about the little things, does not explain how anything actually applies and goes off on tangeants during many class discussions.
Knows what he is talking about, but cannot teach. This man has ruined my life and crushed my spirits. He says he is there to help you, but ridicules you if you do not understand something. At the end of my advanced functions exam last semester, he sarcastically said, "Good luck in calculus!!!" Because a few people had not finished. He is a horrible teacher, and he ruined my self confidence for grade 11 and 12.
Very difficult to understand. He confuses people when trying to help them. He knows a lot but not how to teach
he works too fast and needs to stop 'preparing us' for university he needs to be teaching there, we wanna get through the class not major in it later...
Great Teacher. He gets D wet enough to be in a good mood, while not getting it too wet, as to be too cheery.
liek the whol overhead thing is a bit much but like i found him a good teacher as long as u go in after school
i have him next semester and im scared shitless reading all these comments now.. math was my best subject- I DONT WANT TO FAIL :(
Very well educated and knows what he is doing. Every day he comes in with an exellent plan and teaches it with clarity. He's a hard teacher, but if you do the work he's a fun teacher!!
Mr. Stella obivously doesnt know how to tech children my child has failed his class twice even when he sought help from him, he should be replaced.
could you honestly teach something, not just reading it to us because i think we can all read
if you fail one of his classes your probably stupid and next time take some better precautions to pass the class, the only excuse is that you are not capable not the teacher
really bad teacher, overhead after overhead then he doesnt explain it!
Worst teacher ever. Had him in grade 10, failed, and when they gave him to me again I fought with the guidance office forever because the man can't teach. If it's physics maybe, but he tried to incorporate grade 12 physics into grade 10 math! What are you thinking???
Not that great of a math teacher, but he's a great physics teacher. Yeah the class is hard, but it's physics.
He doesn't teach math all he does is gives notes and expects you to know it
honestly...the WORST teacher i ever had, you just read the over head back to us, I could have done that! plus your class was REALLY boring
Ok teacher. Nice guy. If you dont get it, he will help you (if you ask). If you fall asleep (very easy to do), or dont dont try, YOU WILL FAIL! He like to fail many people.
Not a bad guy but did poorly in his class due to lack of clear teaching methods.
Mr. Stella your a hard marker but a good teacher. I don't think you should have overheads in math. I like the way you mark because you are fair.
Mr. Stella I dont really like you in fact I think your a goof and i wish you weren't my teacher but since i have to be in your class i wil have to make it work
he makes class boring and i never understand what he is saying!! sometimes he helps out but not always!
i cant stand his class. BORING!!! he doesnt provide good help...
