Phd from harvard, adjunct professor at McGill doing research in theoretical physics and in physics pedagogy. His teaching method, while uncomfortable at times, leads to increased student performance. Pretty goofy dude, so you might think hes a little weird at first, but you'll get used to him... If you like physics, you'll like Oscar. He focuses on making sure his students get the concept, as opposed to teaching to the test. His tests are easy but still manges to prepare you well for the final!

Oscar's teaching philosophy is different to that of other profs, he believes that you should be learning stuff on your own and then use the time you have with him to ask questions and clarify things. This style of teaching is not popular with people who are forced to take the class and just want to pass. However, I think it's a quite effective way to learn if you like the material.

Extremely nice and willing to help. However, can't teach if his life depended on it. Doesn't give notes or powerpoints like other teachers, nor does he give lectures. If you enjoy talking to your peers during class time and pretty much learning all of the course material on your own, this is the man for you!

He doesn't give any ppts or notes, and rarely gives lectures. You will mostly do physics problems in teams during class. Your teacher will basically be the textbook (so buy it. its the only textbook worth buying) and youtube. HOWEVER, if u go see him, he's very clear and helpful. Just be prepared to learn a lot by yourself. (i personally prefer learning that way but some ppl not so much)

The worst! He doesn't teach. Just assigns readings from the textbook which is super unclear. Doesn't prepare you at all for anything, just makes you struggle on a problem all of class and then solves it in three steps at the end without explaining where he got the answer from. Goes super fast (half the course material in a quarter of the semester). Avoid at all costs!!!!!

Funny and caring teacher. He actually prepares you well for the final. Just read his notes. He's just not good at explaining, but as mechanics is mostly review from HS, it's not a problem (id be worried if I had him for waves). He doesn't let you keep the midterms and assigns a lot of mastering physics problems!! Really smart, the dude has a PhD from Harvard.

He is really helpful during office hours, and although it's more tricky since he wants you to understand the concept and not just know how to apply formulas, helpful for finals because you can apply the concept in many different contexts and still understand. A bit unproductive and ambiguous lectures, but know how to emphasize on the important material. Really knowlegeable, and genuinely wants his students to do good. Overall, challenging but good if willing to work and put your own effort.

I think that Oscar really wants you to understand, but he is just not good at helping you understand. He is very confusing and when he tries to explain something again, he says the same thing he said before, but with more words (basically, he's megaconfusing). He tries to make the class fun and he tries to teach, but the truth is that you end up needing to read the whole textbook. Midterms are VERY easy, but I doubt that they prepare you well for the final.

Oscar genuinely wants his students to do well and puts a big emphasis on UNDERSTANDING the concepts rather than just mindless memorization. I feel like I actually understand Waves. Save yourself by NOT taking this if you want to call him "a teacher". Should not even chosen this profession since he clearly does not want to teach. Definiton of lazy and unclear. Assigns a ton of readings every week so he does not have to teach in class. All he does is answer questions yet he still doesn't even answer them clearly. Don't take this teacher or else you will regret it.

Worst experience at Marianopolis. His "method" (more like laziness) is to assign textbook readings and then answer questions - which would be fine if he actually answered the questions. Instead he refuses to answer "stupid" or "obvious" questions and is condescending and rude. Finished 10% lower than any other class at Marianopolis. HORRIBLE TEACHER - lazy, cheap marker, picks on some students, grades inconsistently for labs. AVOID. E&M was a nightmare.

Seeing the poor ratings, I had to give my grain of salt. He's actually a really nice guy with the big ambitions for his students. He can come off as condescending, but give it a second try and you'll see it comes from a passion for logic, clarity and the scientific method - not bad intentions. He can teach the traditional way when he wants to, and is actually beyond clear when he does, but opts for you to learn to think for yourself instead. He is a challenge worth taking - if you have time.
