Hardest Teacher at Woodlands.
Hi, I had Mr. Cox for Grade 11 chemistry. He is one of the hardest teachers at The Woodlands in my opinion, the first unit is easy no doubt about that but unit 2 and above gets exponentially harder each time. His quizzes can be really easy to frustrating at many times. Also on his unit tests, he includes questions that we barely took in class. Overall if you want a challenging teacher then go for it, otherwise stay out of this class for your own good.
Guys, he is the best teacher i have ever had. Initially in his class i hated him to the extent of dropping his course but later on in life i realized everything he taught stuck in my head. All u have to do is go there with an open mind. Wish Mr.Cox all the best in life!
Mr Cox expected lots from his students but never made it clear what exactly he wants. He gives out labs without instruction OR explains them so much you run out of time to complete it in time. Hard marker and not fair at all. Puts things on the test that are grades above you and expects you to know what to do. Loves technology but fails to make powerpoints interesting. Ask a question, and he totally misinterprets what you're saying so you are left more confused.
Exciting man, dry teacher. If he offers you out of class help, take it. Otherwise you will learn little in his heavily power-point focused classes. He is knows the qualities of a bad teacher, but rarely sees where he goes wrong. His various stories are both the most interesting and most educating and informative parts of his lessons. Lessons are dull, but he is actually interesting as a person and nuanced in his opinions. Guy blew up an island, teaching is a waste of his knowledge and skill.
marks hard... the kind of teacher to make you reconsider career decisions
He was my grade 12 chem teacher. We went from 30 students to only 12/11 because everyone failed the unit test and we all had a week until midterms and didn't want that mark shown to universities. He's a really nice guy but a very bad teacher. He gives tests that are very hard and usually tells you some slides on his powerpoint are irrelevent and are for your "entertainment" then puts them on the test and skips by them really quick when teaching. Switch out IMMEDIATLY if you get him.822
The only reason I'm giving him only 3 stars for some of the categories is because I had him for grade 10 science and he really can't teach biology or physics.
My mark was in the high 80s, but it's my fault it's so low because I slacked off during grade 10. However, the people who actually put in the work did well. People complain about him a lot, but when he was my teacher, he was very reasonable and allowed retests and things to pull your mark up.
Study hard and you'll do fine.
Mr Cox is a hard teacher. He doesn't teach us anything and then gives stuff not covered on the tests. He also favours girls and suddenly got an interest in the 'girls flag football' team. He marks very very very hard too so hope for maximum 80%. If you have him, run for the hills. He also makes cheesy jokes
if you have his course, change it immediately. he might be nice to you, but the mark he gave was so low. he's probably is the harshest teacher in woodlands. if you don't have the habits read the text book before the class, then you couldn't understand everything. don't wish you study hard then you could get better mark, his test was freaking hard! well, if you good at chemistry and needed some challenges, go ahead, you might just get 80 marks.
BEST TEACHER IN THE WORLD!!!!!! He inspired me to pursue a career in geology. He's very kind to his students, especially the female ones. Mr Cox rocks my socks. He taught me that the sun sets 8 minutes before we see it, and never to tell your gf/bf.
He is a great person, and a good teacher. He tries his best to get you to understand the concepts
He's an incredible teacher; he teaches very well and yes, his tests/exams are challenging but if you can't handle what he throws at you, then that's a lacking on your (the student's) part, not his. =)
Doesn't teach much. At all. What is covered doesn't cover the entire test. Nice if you're not in his class, but once you're in, you're basically screwed.
Good willed and a good scientist, but he is a difficult teacher. He explains things in a way that is difficult to understand, until you figure it out yourself in the textbook. His questions and tests are evidently twice as hard as the other classes of the same course, and sometime completely incomprehensible. He marks projects that are supposed to be for learning purposes only, and I have gotten practically 20% lower than my normal average in his class. Uninteresting and unclear.
Not a bad Teacher. However he was quite awkward and not helpful at times. Still managed to squeeze out an 82% in 11 chemistry.
Yes I agree that he is a very tough marker, I mean I usually get 80s in science and when I went into his class I got a 72:(
if I was the best student in the whole wide world, mr.cox will be my wrost enemy i mean seriously, SCIENCE is my best subject! I got a 93 in grade 9 and then I had him for grade 11 chemistry.... man he was tough and harsh, and booo
he was an okay teacher and was doing just fine until we started physics... he lost me then... he's also very scary and a definite hard marker.... good luck if u have him
great teacher, very easy to understand, different teaching style; he expects you to read the section being covered the next day to be studied at home so when u go to class,, its really easy to understand, ask him anytime for help, he will respond and if he doesn't.. sent him a mail or leave him a voice message hes really into helping people out
i had him 2 years ago, hes a really nice guy, but if you ask an advanced question, he'll say "u'll learn it in gr 11" and then he'll go right ahead and put it on a test!...other than that a really nice person
Scary... but not the worst I've had. Bilecki killed. Corny jokes, hard marker.
He's mean, doesn't tell us stuff, makes cheesy jokes that waste the whole class and then forces us to do everything at home. Plus, he marks very heard and doesn't even tell us what he's testing us on. One of my worst teachers so far.
Maybe if he knew the subject he was teaching he would be a good teacher. Also if he didn't change how much a question is worth after you have already handed in the exam. Also maybe if he could answer your questions he might be a little better of a teacher. He should stick to geology and his stories about going to science camp.
He's an okay teacher. Definitely not the best or the worst. I've had Bilecki, now even the semi-bad teachers are like angels. Cox just needs to stop the corny jokes and stay on topic when asked a question. Marks very hard and teaches science at a very basic understanding in Grade 9. Tests are killers but his labs are "okay". Overall he's an okay teacher.
horrible teacher....doesn't explain very well, marks really hard....and his tests are killer!...he makes chem even more boring and hard...and he never gets back to u wen u ask a question!....good luck if u have him....
He was nice to me and I didn't have trouble understanding what he was trying to say. People disagree but if you pay attention and ASK him if you don't understand you'll be fine.
He's very unclear, every class he just goes on and on talking....and once I asked him to explain something to me he said he'd get back to me I'm still waiting.
