I was an abysmal student and regularly ended up in detention with him. Despite that and especially in hindsight, I realize he was in fact an excellent teacher who pushed for all of his students to excel.
Only had him once as a teacher and he was quite meticulous. He was my basketball coach for many years, couldn't do a layup but we saw he took out every book in the library on Basketball. He was the first coach I had that knew anything about visual imagery and it's significance. We won a Jr championship in '87 against Westwood (no easy task). Wrote a sport psych paper about that team and his coaching whilst at Laurier and got an A.
Misunderstood but harmless in my opinion. J.B. #21
I was a student of his back in the day, and I thought Chem we super duper difficult. In university I found Chemistry really easy because no one care if I put an extra number after the decimal. He was picky with his marking. I have to say I think I did well because of that, I studied so very hard in his class, and still ended up with a 75% or something, and in univeristy I got over 80% in chem courses, so thank you Mr. Lafleur. I am a chem and Math teacher now in an international school in UAE.
He is a really strict teacher but only because he wants you to succeed. He has good notes, but other than that he is always giving out detentiong over little things most teachers won't care about.
Neil was very articulate in displaying his bias towards some students at the expense of others. With easy he denied you marks if it did not fit his cookie cutter marking regime or your notes were not neat enough. I have to thank him for killing my dreams of pursuing sciences and going into finance (I thank him for that and my home on Palm Island South Beach!!) If I had the foresight to see how my fate would have played out, my time with him would not been as scarring to me.
this guy needs to just let loose sometimes, like seriously
most amazing teacher I ever had! taught me so much about chemistry and now I'm at u of t doing an organic chem specialist :)
oooOOOooo way too strict teacher but his strictness is the reason why there is silence and discipline in class. i like his habit of randomly picking students in class to answer questions it helps us stay awake and understand because we know that any time we can be the one asked that question! in short a real great teacher!!!
Mr.Lafleur is an o.k. science teacher. He is kinda strict though. But it's cool how he taught my english teacher.
VERY strict. I learned a lot but he subtly embarasses you and if you do something wrong he gives you this look like "I'm very dissapionted in you" . Gahh. (he is nice out of class, though)
Great teacher! Is very strict, but is a very good teacher, explains things well, and gives enough work to be able to understand the stuff.
He's no doubt a very strict teacher. He's at times i would say unreasonable, when it comes to marking tests but he's a very good and hard working teacher. I did well in uni cause of his chem class.
He rocks my socks. best teacher ever. he can actually do his job and he really makes you feel like you can do well in his class. He may be strict but it's what made me respect him.
wont answer ur question in class even if u hv ur hand up for half the class. has like 1 or 2 favs then hates everyone, not helpful, and clarity is so-so because on some issues he'l leave u confused.
LAFLEUR......I got to think about this.....not...he is so boring...and I have him this semester...... thank goodness its almost over..... :)
I hard Neil Lafleur as a teacher over 20 years ago. I found him to be very reasonable if there were issues outside of the classroom impacting your abiility to perform in the class.
I had Mr LaFleur over ten years ago - still remember him - great teacher - appreciates hard work!! awesome!
The best science teacher in the school, strict but makes you do work, very commendable.
he is a good teacher, strict but good. he explains very good and prepares you for tests very well
At first Mr. Lafluer is a hard teacher but he prepares you sooo well for you overall exams, you will have awsome notes,
I've had Lafluer for Grade 11 English and I must say I am not impressed. He does not show up for classes on a regular basis. There are times when he is gone for an entire week!
Very strict, gives lots of h/w and gives detentions for talking in class
BEST TEACHER EVER! MISS the CHEM 11 class. REMARKABLE and INTELLIGENT TEACHER
I'm not a science person but I actually got interested in Chemistry because of Mr. Lafleur. He may be strict but he is a very good teacher. I miss my Chemistry class.
I know not everyone is fond of him but no noe can deny the fact that he's a great teacher and you can't not learn in his class, if you want to do well with a challenge, go lafleur
Uhh on there good... everyone who has had him will get that. Good teacher, couldn't stand another semester with him though.
great teacher, but very strict...seriously let those kids breath...lol...if you cough in his class you will get a detention
His class is hard to deal with because you cannot make a noise. BUT he is a great teacher and you can learn more from him than any science teacher in the school
Hated him when I was in his class, appreciate his efforts now. I'm the last person to compliment Neil, but he was a good teacher, a little too much, but good!!
definately the type of person you thank later. "your intentions are only seen by you"
i have never had a better teacher... especially for HR (except math) he is kinda strange, but knows what he is doing, and teaches it very well.
great teacher, i have had him for 2 years in a row for HR 2ns semester. i am soo happy. i hope i will have him every year for something.
He means well, but he has a STRANGE personality and quirky habits. A little strict with his no- talking rule
kool teacher very easi 2 get along with...the onlee thing he shud do is waive the no talking rule
Glad to see he hasn't changed since I went there 10 years ago. Destroyed my desire to ever take science again.
