Kikot is one of the strictest English teachers out there. He may seem knowledgable however that is not true at all, he just repeats the same information year after year. He is also someone who is stuck in the past and refuses to embrace technology.
Mr. Kikot expects a lot from his students, intellectual-wise. He is usually nice and makes good jokes. He gives a lot of feedback on assignments but marks really hard (our class literally failed the exam). During presentations, he glares at you from under his reading glasses, which greatly increases the pressure. But if you say the right thing, the satisfaction's real. I think you should have Mr. Kikot at least once - the experience is valuable and your analysis and writing skills will sharpen.
Mr Kikot was hands down the most difficult teacher I have ever had
Mr Kikot is by far one of the most knowledgeable teachers I have ever met. However, one thing he does not know how to do is teach. During the ten months I spent with him (I had him as an english teacher twice), my class had received a total of three direct lessons. Otherwise, you spend the rest of the semester completing absurd amounts of work from assignment to assignment. Though my English skills did improve, it was essentially self-taught. 4/10, would not recommend (actual mark he gave me).
I had Mr. Kikot as a teacher ten years ago. He is still one of the few teachers I remember, and he was simply the best. As a high school student, I did not appreciate his high standards, and I complained about him as many students do here. But now that I'm an adult, I see that he was one of the few teachers I had who really knew his stuff, had high standards, and pushed me to think. Without Mr. Kikot, I would have continued through my high school with easy A's. I was lucky he taught me.
Mr.Kikot is one of the hardest markers I've ever come across. However, he is extremely knowledge and his analysis of Shakespeare surpasses all expectations. One tip to tackle his class is to clearly understand his expectation.
Very strict teacher for Grade 9, He makes the class do way more advanced work then all of the other classes and he marks way harder. He also doesn't let us talk in our class at all which isn't so good for a learning envoirment.
His class is one of the hardest english classes for grade 9. We do some next level kinda work. The class average is below a 70 and thats because he grades us so hard when other classes are doing light work. I get the point of being a strict teacher so we can understand the values of everything he is teaching but he makes us sit 2 desks away from everyone else so we cant even talk to eachother. Isn't communication a huge aspect of english? All in all, if you want a decent mark, switch classes.
I know that he is a hard marker but what's the point in having an easy teacher and not learning anything? It's not about the grade you end up with but how much you learned in the class and English, for me, has taught me a lot and made me much more thoughtful when reading pieces of literature. This teacher will prepare you for uni and make you an insightful writer.
the most inspiring teacher ive ever had in my life. he made me competent
Mr kikot was actually a pretty good teacher. he's a super hard marker, but other than that he explains the stuff really well. You walk out of his class feeling educated. Im in an AP class and everyone has low 80s - high 70s so if you're hoping for high marks in his class, you might get disappointed.
Mr. Kikot may be one of the hardest markers in the school, but he's really nice if you do what you're supposed to do. The coursework and exams were really challenging, but I learned a lot in his class. Mark's aren't everything guys.
Remember, Mr. Kikot's 85 = 95 in any other English class. Having Mr. Kikot in Gr. 10 was a blessing; my own standards were pushed, my vocab was broadened, and the mark didn't really matter because it was Gr. 10. His class was INTENSE but it has helped my English improve immensely. His vocab rivals a dictionary. Seriously.... When you finish this class, you might not end with an ideal grade, but you end with newly set standards and knowledge. I'm truly grateful.
OMG, Mr. KIKOT was the best teecher ev3r! He helped me learn so much speling and he is very funny. I was able to get a 94% next year and he helped me finish top of the class. I would definitely recommend him.
Mr.Kikot is an incredibly knowledgeable teacher and his lessons are great in that respect, however, the thing most people---including myself--- have an issue with is that he marks very hard and it's near impossible to get a good mark. The presentations are much easier than than the essays, by the way. Also, as some person below me said, even if you're AP you won't get a good mark.
Kikot is very knowledgable and he's taught me a lot but he also stresses me out at the same time. I think that he could be nicer when it comes to teaching. Regardless, he has a great personality.
I love Mr. Kikot. English is not my first language, but I am grateful for having him as my teacher. He is indeed very strict, and if you think he does not see you cheating... oh, he does. I barely passed this course but got the mark I need to be qualified to a University. Thank you Mr. Kikot. You helped me a lot.
He's a strict but great teacher
He is actually the best teacher, but everyone absolutely hates being in his class. Although a lot is learned, it is definitely not worth putting through the immense stress of his class. He is also the most brutal marker, so don't go in expecting an 80% even if you are an AP student. Would not recommend.
Exam was extremely hard. You must be very good at English to get a 90% in his class.
Very knowledgeable, but a hard marker.
A very knowledgeable teacher, but the class was not a nice experience. Marks harshly and sometimes unjustly and you cannot study for the exam.
Easily the best teacher I have ever had in my life. He teaches you how to think while other teachers teach what to think. If you are willing to work as hard as your brain allows even if it means not sleeping for days on end, you will do well and even if you do not, you will be smarter than ever. He completely changed the way I look at English and I will never forget him. He is not hard, he just demands you push yourself a lot and loves helping people if they truly want help, he doesn't baby you.
He's Probably one the smartest men I've met, but I believe hes not that great of a teacher.
I brilliant man but not the best teacher
he is smart but not good teacher very bad
Mr Kikot is an exceptional English teacher.
He's a good teacher but be can be a hard marker
awsome teacher, but a bit of a hard marker. he uses very big words, and often very strict. listen to his lessons. and you MUST do his homework. the best and the worst teacher in the school. often very jolly
HARD HARD TEACHER. Dropped his class, demands way too much and doesn't allow his students to talk in class.
Don't expect him to ever be easy. This guy knows english, is absolutely a amazing teacher. Just work hard and you'll be fine
Had him for Grade 12 English. He was tough, but I came out of it with my head up high. Really good teacher, really tough marker.
Mr. Kikot is strict when necessary. He is in reality, an amazing teacher if you complete your homework and complete assignments and essays to required specifications. Mr. Kikot has his own way of tea
Yes it's true that he is a hard marker and very strict, but you will learn a lot in his class if you focus. He is undoubtedly the smartest english teacher in the school.
oh man, Mr mark kikot. hes a great teacher by the way, knows what he is talking about but great but a hard teacher. expects abit too much of the juniors of highschool but listen well and learn alot
He's not hard he's just strict. If you do what he teaches you then his class is super easy, he's just a real teacher. He's also one of the smartest people I've ever met.
This is a real teacher..he knows his stuff. Learned loads from him and even though I lost hours of sleep, it was worth it. He'd be better appreciated in university though, I think...maturer students.
He's an amazing teacher, he takes pride in teaching regardless of a students ability. All u need is to put forth an equal amount of effort - be sincere/ hand in work, dont get on his bad side by bein irresponsible/skip class.
Out of high school already but I remember this guy well, grade 10 english, hes really into the literature and a hard marker (i got 68%), but i did learn alot from his class, (96% grade 12 eng) woohooo !!!
Very Hard, Best thing to do is drop his class before mid-term
He was the best! He didn't play favs and I learned so much being in his class. Won't forget the rap:) and I loved his hands! Thx for a great semester!
HARD HARD MARKER, but neverless a very good teacher to help prepare you for post secondary English. Hard to recieve high marks in his class.
This man knows what he is doing. Problem is that he teaches at a university level. But man is this guy amazing at english. Hard marker but it comes with the knowledge he has.
As long as you finish all your assigned work with considerable effort, Mr. Kikot can be rather nice. He marks exams extremely harshly however.
lets just say i droped his class mid-term when i was in Grade 12 which is last year... he is way to demanding, more like a uni prof
I showed Kikot up alot. He was rarely ever right when I was in the room. Could say certian names. Made a good friend almost cry. Horrid man. Could of taught better too. He hated me
In my opinion, a very good english teacher. To the point and proper. He even has a sense of humour. Do your work on time, and do not be half-assed about it.
Had him for gr 9... almost wet myself when I had to present... he thinks hes in the army... and hes an ENGLISH teacher... doesn't not make sense!
I've had him twice and I won't lie, having him once, twice or more makes no difference. He's a tough one.He KNOWS English inside and out, so don't bother using any shortcuts. EVER.
everyone hates him and he can be strict but he is smart and is such a great teacher if you want to learn alot. i like him
Had him for gr12 english, and he is definitely a knowledgable teacher! I got my highest English mark in his class (mid 80). He's not impossible, but you have to be willing to work!
Adive to all of you that has himCOME TO CLASShe mark you when u'r in class and if you dunt come u'r gonna get lik a 60 in ur midterm and do all ur hmk cuz he has a lot of hmk check
Mr. ArmyDrillSargeantMan The man is soo strict but funny to see KO rap...
Kikot knows knows his sutff. If you stay on his good side, you'll do okay. Only problem is it's too tough to even get on his good side...just drop his class
I have absolutely, never in my life been as bored as I am in his class! He knows what he's doing but damn..he needs 2 lighten up and learn to have some fun!!
He's okay when he's teaching Shakespeare, but watch out for those essays cause he's a hard marker!
He can be a good teacher, but he freaks me out..he's so scary..I wouldn't look forward to another semester with him
