Great teacher, very inspiring! Strict but if you work hard and make an effort it will definitely pay off in the end.
Had her for OAC English in 2000-2001. Strict, but fair. Very good teacher, overall.
Okay, so I had Mrs P in OAC back in 1999. Anyhow, she was fantastic. Thanks to her, I have a BA and MA in English and now a magazine editor. Thanks for those vocab quizzes! Happy retirement!
I love mrs p! thanks to her, I actually understand grammar, and my writing has improved so much. She is absolutely hilarous (although she might seem a bit scary at first). Lisgar has lost an amazing teacher and person.
She is such a great teacher! I had her for TAP back in 2000, it was soo fun, she has this great humour! She can be really tough when it comes to grammer...I bet she's going over this and correcting my grammer and then I had her for OAC english....what can I say she is just amazing! I heard she is retiring...I wish you all the best Ms. P!
This is, unfortunately, her last semester of teaching. She is an excellent teacher, and I'm very sorry that we won't be able to see her back at Lisgar next year. She has helped improve my writing greatly, and her sense of humour is awesome! :D You will be missed, Mrs. P!
Oh i LOVE mrs. Poetchke shes amazing, and she really makes you great writer...using ANY means neccesay. I can't believe how funny she is "I always walked around singing the Soviet national anthem, and THATS why the KGB never flattened MY tires", soo funny, i wander if she ever actually lived in the usssr, but then again, whos brave enough to ask?
I just completed grade 12 English last semester, thank god! Mrs.P was the coolest teacher ever! honestly, though she was very strict and demanded alot, she always pushed us to do better because she knew we could. her sense of humour was halarious!!! i will never forget her "tombstones" and her "diary entries" thanks for a great semester Mrs. P!!
I graduated from Lisgar back in '91 and I still remember the fun that I had in her Grade 12 and OAC English classes. A sharp, dry sense of humour, a love of language and learning and a rather unfortunate penchant for Dickens are my fondest memories of Mrs. Poetschke. I'm very pleased that she is still teaching at Lisgar. She was the best English teacher I have ever encountered.
An amazing teacher who loves in English, marks quickly, and wants to enrigh English class as much as possible.
She is much too interested in the technical aspects of writing. She is very unjustly harsh on some students and is one for playing favourites. Although I have nothing against her personally, I wish I had been able to opt out of her class.
The poetschke is the best english teacher I have ever had. At first I was scared to go into her class, but she was awesome. She knows everything, marks quickly, demands the best from her students, and teaches very well. I don't generally like English, but this class was great....despite all the reading/work. So funny "write this in your diaries" lol
Absolutely brilliant teacher. The best Lisgar has ever had the privilege of having on their staff (I graduated over 13 years ago -- and her lessons on grammar still serve me well). She is an incredibly talented teacher; the top three of all who have every taught me.
I graduated 7 years ago, and I still have great memories of her. Profs did not compare when it came to bringing life to the subject. Thanks for the life-long gift Mrs. Poetschke!
One of the best teachers I've ever had. Her teaching made life much easier for me when I got to university. She deserves an award.
One of the best teachers that I've ever had... Thanks a lot Mrs. Poetschke
She's that funny, a bit cynical, yet caring teacher you'd write on your college application essay about. Her classes are very helpful.
love her, she's awesome, would love to have brunch with her sometime, but FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST! STOP TAKING OFF MARKS ON ESSAYS FOR DICTION!
Obviously cares about her students as she engages with anyone who is willing to put in the slightest bit of effort. I wish I still had her as a teacher, my university professors have nothing on her. AP was greatbecauseofher
Mrs. P has to be one of the best teachers out there. My University profs don't even come close, neither in knowledge, nor in teaching ability. YAY MRS. POETSCHKE!! Even though she gave a "TOMBSTONE!! NO FLOWERS, JUST WEEDS!!"
she's a chiller. kind of a basket-case when she reads aloud, but it all adds to the SPICE.
Great teacher and person. I learned lots. She really enjoys english and it rubs off on her students.
She's an amazing teacher, the best LCI's English department has to offer. She wants everyone to do well, but knows it must come through hard work.
gr 12 writer's craft saved me from going insane in regular english this year. Mrs. P rocks
very knowledgeable, enjoys teaching english and wants everyone to succeed
Someone needs to look up pretentious... clear misunderstanding of its meaning. She's wonderful, perfect even. Compassionate, brilliant, engaging, informative.
Absolutely brilliant. Honestly cares about educating you, not about stupid deadlines and other irrelevant stuff. She's tough -If you try, you will do very well.
grade 11 english was pretty good, grade 12 writer's craft was the best class ever!!!!!!!
Amazing teacher, amazing person; what more do you want? Strict? 99% of the time she's kidding. Great sense of humour, and way better than Peters, no contest.
Mrs. P terrified me at first, but her class is always a pleasure to attend. She marks assignments quickly and offers great feedback. Her jokes are hilarious!
She seems scary at first but she's really nice and she knows EVERYTHING (to do with English, that is)
hard but definitely a challenge to tackle.. hey, life wouldn't be interesting if everything was a walk through the park!
I hope those of you giving her great ratings realize that those low marks she's giving out cost you money in terms of scholarships. She can be as smart as she wants, but why should it cost us?
Nice teacher, knows her stuff, but can be intimidating at times, if you don't do as she wishes...:P
To those giving Mrs. Poetschke poor ratings, try to stay awake in class.
the essay lacks quality .. Mrs. P...my english teacher lacks quality :)
One day, I hope to be half so intelligent or benevolent or eloquent.
She's a great teacher, her tests are hard but if you read it, (X10) u'll do OK
Mme. Defarge-in a good way. makes me look forwards even to test days.
Turns TAP into a class of its own. This is what Lisgar's all about!
Yeah, life isn't fair because of unreasonable, pretentious people like her
Greatest Teacher..hard at first, but life isnt fair, get used to it
totally sarcastic & brillant. really loves literature
If I don't say she's amazing she'll draw a gravestone on the board with my name.
Her sarcasm brings joy to days 1 & 3. And the laughter and extensions are great.
Best teacher I've ever had!! You may not think so on day 1, but you'll see why
too moody and inconsistent. when she wants to be, she's a good teacher though
Once you get past her hard tests, you realize how well she can teach
I LOVE EXTENSIONS! THANK YOU! and always understanding to our hardships;)
Many many extensions = happy students, also really good teacher.
amazing teacher, taught clearly, quite funny, best class; too bad it was an 8 am
Very moody this year, heard wonderful things about her in the past.
best english teacher. makes you realize how much you have to learn...
I can now write an essay. Thank you. Teaches literature honestly and clearly.
Still laughs at Dickens as if she was reading it for the first time.
She loves her job and she loves her students, as much as she pretends she doesn'
The most amazing english teacher I have ever encountered.
Best English teacher in the whole school. The bark is worse than the bite.
