Here's the thing, if you're smart you'll survive. If social is a weakness for you you're screwed. Yes, he does know a bunch, but you'll probably be too scared to ask questions. So I mean, keep your mouth shut, pray to god he doesn't call on you, and don't even bother studying for his tests because it's not like anything he taught you or told you to study is on it, best mark goes to the best guesser. Also be prepared to fail at least one test unless you know your stuff.
I had moquin for social 20 and 30, and I enjoyed having him for both. He really knows his stuff, teaches you to write well, and does show a lot of documentaries. You'll have to work hard, but he's willing to help, and once you get through his tests the diploma is a breeze.
I was honestly terrified of Moquin and did really bad in his class. But he's actually one of the most genuine teacher's I've ever had. He's willing to do anything for you if you really need help. He truly wants you to succeed and challenges you. The only way to succeed in his class is to actually put in the effort which is a good skill to develop (I obviously did not do that) but I will definitely remember him for a long time. And with his hard tests the diploma was a breeze.
Moquin's class is one of sitting quietly and hoping he doesn't call on you. I likes that Moquin shows lots of documentaries and really knows his stuff. You can't help but respect him and as the year went on I likes him more and more. I thought that some days he could be really nice and had a great sense of humour. You will survive the class, just pay attention. His tests weren't too bad and, because of how much you learn, the final is the easiest of them all.
I'M IN SO DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP, YOU KNOW I'M SUCH A FOOOOL FOR YOUUUUUU. YOU GOT ME WRAPPED AROUND YOUR FINGERRRRERRRRRRERRRR. DO YOU HAVE TO LET IT LINGER? DO YOU HAVE TO? DO YOU HAVE TO? DO YOU HAVE TO LET IT LINGER?
I tried switching out of his class but couldnt at all But you know what YESSSS!!. Heard so many crazy stuff about him their not true! Mr Moquin is a REALLY good teachers and the diploma mark of our class will be higher than any other class. he knows exactly what he is teaching and knows how to engage student thouggh you CANT argue with that dude. Anyway please dont switch out because he will make you ready for the diploma. Always do your homeworkand you will be above 80 FOR SURE
Moquin's class is not for the thin-skinned or anyone without an interest in the material. He knows this subject better than most other people in the building, but he doesn't tolerate people who don't try or don't care. I'm a poli-sci major, so I did phenomenally well in his class, and I found it to be engaging and rewarding. Moquin is no angel, however. Let's not mince words, he can be mean. But if you enjoy the material and can work hard, stick with him! You won't regret it
I understand the approach of, 'teach hard and act hard' to try and whip kids into line and to get them to work hard, but Moquin takes this way too far. There's a point at which kids stop willing to put in the effort, because one, you don't reward them and two, it's not even worth it! His tests are unbelievably hard and he's aware of it. He thinks that a good student will have prepared himself for it but it's bs. Let's be honest here, he's a prick.
Probably the most disrespectful teacher ive ever had. He does not care about his students.. except random 2 or 3 favorites in the class. He is not understanding in any way, and if you are struggling he does not help you, even if you ask for help. And his tests are super hard and he marks essays insanely hard .
Very tough and hard work doesn't necessarily pay off. You learn lots and he is very direct about the information and he knows his stuff. Gives hard tests and is a hard marker. Somewhat discouraging be
Knowledgeable teacher, likes some students (very few) for random reasons, otherwise disrespectful (treats you as tho you are dirt compared to him), unhelpful and very hard marker. If you're in his cla
he doesn't like many of his students, nor does he give them any chances and his tests and "quizzes" are crazy hard, most of the time full of reading that can't always be finished in short classes. the
He is really good teacher, much much better than Cole!
He makes more sense than Cole and that says alot. He might be a hard marker but in the end it's worth it.
Big enphasis on assignments and tests, he not a really hard marker. Interesting speaker, you can tell he really enjoys his work. If you do the work and try in his class, the material isn't too hard.
He was awesome and so helpful! All of you whining about how hard his tests are need to quick complaining. If you listened and did your homework, than you would have found the tests quite easy!
He boosted my car once. It took a long time. It was the one decent thing he did for me.
He teaches the material, gives notes, and is interesting to listen to.The homework he gives is relevant, but usually time consuming. Mult.choice tests are very hard, but he is otherwise an easy marker
Tests are overall confusing, thers never anything relevent on them about what we actully learned. And a "quiz" for him is a 50 questioned test...
funny guy... really good for social 10
but his tests are, as someone else mentioned, difficult and often contain questions referring to things you've never heard of.
Great guy. Not the most clear teacher, but knows his stuff none the less.
Tests are hard, and half the time you think you've never seen some of the stuff before. Gives interesting perspectives, finally someone who's not PC!
Great teacher, better than just about all of the professors I've had at the U of C. Very clear, but be prepared to do a lot of work.
Exceptional teacher, very inspirational. Not PC, so you'll learn a lot from him.
