You will hate Ms. Khan at the beginning of the year. This is a given. Whether it’s her strict phone policy or her teaching style, you’ll find something you disklike about her. By the time April hits, you’ll realize how great she really is. She prepares you for the next grade level and beyond. She may be strict, but this is because she genuinely wants you to succeed. She does not mark hard, but she is fair. She does not play favorites; she marks upon ability. She is amazing.
personally didn't like me so she gave me a 70% on my comparative essay... got a 95% in my grade 12 class for the same assignment... also hates cellphones and over exaggerates everything
Overly strict teacher, who refuses to respect other opinions, her assignments are also kind of stupid and sometimes unrelated to the curriculum
Unclear and not helpful
Often unclear when describing assignments, doesn't give enough tests or projects throughout the year, however very knowledgeable.
Very nice teacher, but she is a very hard marker, and she makes you work extremely hard and frequently. Also, she assigned us a book with no sparknotes :'(
Her explanations for projects and assignments are completely unclear, takes forever to do anything, and does none of the same projects as any of the other classes. Her assignments don't help with any skills you may need for future novel studies, and does not give nearly enough time for projects. She doesn't explain anything well as previously said, but expect you to know exactly what she wants, and asks for work she never assigned. Take caution in her class.
She tried to be good and helpful, but we were constantly confused and she always expected you to be able to tell what she wanted.
Yeah, Ms Khan i agree she is a bit rough around the edges !!!. At least if you have a personal problem, she will not dismiss you. And try to her best to get you the help you need.
Awful, awful teacher. I lost all confidence in my writing skills, despite the fact that English used to (always) be my best mark. Is self-absorbed and self-important. Thinks she knows everything about post-colonialism.
She's a very knowledgeable teacher, and nice sometimes. She's a pretty hard marker on presentations, but reasonable on assignments. Has lots of discussions.
tends to give an assignment, THEN a lesson on how you should have done the assignment, not the other way around. Makes us do busy work...ie, writing out 50 quotes from a play. Can take months to hand back small assignments, yet is very picking about due dates. sometimes picks favourites (ie, gets some kids in trouble, others not)
Brilliant, enthusiastic, and committed to her students. It's true that her marks aren't as generous as some teachers', but the development of my prose and my thought process has been well worth the cost. Students willing to push themselves and refusing to be intimidated will be very pleased with the results.
Takes forever to do anything in class. if you give your opinion in a discussion she'll twist to what she wants until it's no where near what you meant, even though she encourages you to give your own opinion. And she is vague .. for all she cares for being consice she isn't practicing what she's preaching.
definitely not the best teacher, but very enthusiastic about what she teaches. if you ask her for help, she'll give it... it's not always the best help, though. she likes it when people participate in discussions.
I know a LOT of people who don't like her, but I think she's a pretty good teacher. She tries a lot and cares a lot, which is definitely important. I have her for Writer's Craft & English, and she's very different in both.
her opinion is apparently the only one that matters. do NOT disagree with her in a discussion or an essay; your mark will suffer.
She is very uncreative, which is difficult, far too strict, and seems to have very noteable prefrences in what she wants in work, which blows for writerscraft.
(3 lines down) you'll regret not appreciating her; we all thought that too
well shes okay i guess.. sometimes she doesnt know what shes talking about tho..
unwilling to teach outside the box. has a pickle you-know-where. not cool.
