Very dedicated and passionate teacher.I personally think she is one of the best I've had so far. Clear notes on the board and fair exams. She really wants students to understand the concepts and is willing to help any time. Make sure to do the problems and not get behind.
She really wants to help every student succeed and she is always available to provide help. However her teaching methods are not that great. She gives a lot of handouts and she assigns long homework from the textbook. The exams are pretty easy if you done some of the homework or if you re good in physics. Her way of correcting them is a little weird but fair for the most part. Her explanations can be confusing at times but if you see her outside of class, she will certainly make you understand.
She is one of the best teachers I've had in my whole schooling years , she is very nice and helpful she will stay extra hours after class just to help you , doesn't mind helping no matter how many hours it takes , very helpful and nice. She is one of the hardest working individuals I have met , always trying to bring new and better changes to the course and to the students. Thank you miss !
Very sweet person and cares a lot about the students. Personally, I recommend that you immediately get on her good side because if you don't, you might be accused of cheating like 3 times in the same months ( i.e. personal experience ). She's okay in class but way better 1-on-1.
I know a lot of people in my class hated here, ut that's because they just didn't work! She is sweet, caring and you learn a lot 1-on-1. She is almost always available for appointments. She does give a lot of hmwk, but it's really helpful if you take the time to do it all. I had her as my Mechanics teacher and I'm definitely taking her as my E/M teacher. Do the hmwk and ask her questions and you'll be fine. This isn't highschool! Be prepared to work and you will get a good grade.
Preregistered by Vanier for Mechanics with her. Notes are printouts, no copying down. Lots of handouts. Labs are EASY but often she isn't there. Specific guide on reports. In class you do exercises. Lots of hwk. If you don't do the homework you will struggle BUT she highlights test level questions (3-8 of MANY) so doing those are sufficient to PASS (60%). VERY sweet&helpful 1-on-1 at explaining. Overall, didn't like at first, but I would recommend 4 sure! fair marker. Exams like tests = easy
She's extremely sweet and it was great having her as a teacher. It was very obvious that she honestly cares for her students. She explains concepts very well and her tests are pretty fair. However, her course consists of a lot of homework but it's all helpful. If you don't do it, then you will most likely fail. Overall, I'd recommend her if you're willing to do the work.
Personally,I think that Karen was the best physics teachers that I had at Vanier. She is very knowledgeable and nice. She is also always willing to help. Her notes are clear and concise. However, she does give a lot of written homework (not webwork) from the textbook. On the plus side, if you actually do her homework well, you will literally be a pro at E and M (trust me). Another thing- for my class, she went slow in the beginning and, then, rushed at the end. She is also a slow marker.
She is a nice lady and AMAZING one on one, but as a teacher I hated her. She is way to confusing on the bored and gives way too much homework no one ever does. I highly suggest taking her as a tutor NOT as a teacher.
She is a very nice person but she gives A LOT of homework and her tests are kinda hard. She doesn't explain too well and most of the time she gives the whole class for one problem.
worst teacher, she gives A LOT of homework and i 've only just begun
She plays favourites and her grading doesn't make sense.
Make sure to get on her good side, because her marking is very biased.
She's a very experienced teacher. Probably one of the best teachers I've ever had. She goes out of her way to help the students and provides more than enough homework and other material for you to become and expert. The class is focused on solving problems, so most of the time is spent on in-class exercises. In many classes she'll bring tutors to help the students figure out the problems.
What you learn in class is to help you understand the homework. You WILL fail if you don't do homework. You see everything in class, but getting used to doing physics problems recquires some discipline. Now as far as her knowledge on physics, she's incredible. You can schedule office hours with her and she's very dedicated to teaching... which you will understand when you look at the homework solutions.
I loved her! Very good teacher, she explains well and her tests are similar to in class problems. People that do not like her, are the same ones who don't try and fail. Take, you won't regret!
Gives a lot (really, a lot) of homework, but it's definitely worth it to do the problems (always similar problems on tests/exam). Picky marker. Gives out printed or handwritten notes on topics, which are helpful but long. She explains clearly, but her explanations are very long. Takes too long to get to the point, but once she does it is very clear. Teaching method: some lecturing, some group work and help of tutors. Cares a lot about her students. Always willing to help students. Tests are fair
Take her if u want to learn! Explains really well one on one and is very flexible with meeting her students if they don't understand! Be prepared to work very hard though, gives TONS of homework (no WEBWORK) & very picky marker, to get full points on a test everything has to be perfect.
She is a good teacher. I don't understand why so many people complain about her... Stop blaming on the teacher when you have bad grades.
She's a sweet woman; always smiling and tries to be funny even if she fails xD. However, she is a hard marker even with the bonus points she gives everywhere in tests. She explains well but she gives
Karen has a very interesting way of teaching. She gives a short lecture, then we do some exercises with the help of tutors. I found this very helpful. Con: She is a VERY picky marker.
Karen is a very good teacher,; although sometimes she is not to the point, she does want to help her students and is always there for her office hours. Her tests and quizes are very easy
This is the type of teacher where you either get 0% or 100%. Very picky when correcting, easy quizzes. Exams aren't hard, but make sure u know how she wants u 2 write the answer, or she'll fail u.
BEST PHYSICS TEACHER EVER! clear & easy exams!! shes very helpful, LOTS of homework thought &&such an easy marker! she explains in detail and she bring TUTORS to class to help you.+such a sweet woman!
She explains every detail in each topic, which is good b/c many teachers lack that. BUT, she's all over the place. Overall, she's quite a bad teacher. I don't recommend her.
ok her material is easy, but shes a bad teacher, you cant call physics what she is teaching and the way she corrects doesn't make any sense, the result of my first test is <89...
Karen does not prepare her students for future physics courses be it CEGEP or University-level. Sure everyone gets 100% but as much as everyone wants a good grade, we also want to learn something relevant that we will need as future scientists. Had her for mechanics and got 98%, I shall never take her again since I want to actually learn!
She's a very good teacher and knows how to explain things for those you don't even ask for help. She gives a lot of hmk, but that makes you understand the course. Recommanded
Karen is so easy it's not even a joke, but also so boring. You'll be doing same problem for 2 classes nothing else. You don't learn anything. mech was fine /c it's stuff from High School but or else..
Karen, she seems to care, but she's a horrible teacher. it's because mechanics is easy that i got a good grade. she's all over the place, so confusing. blabbers too much all the time about uselessness
She is a really nice teacher, entirely dedicated to her students, very helpful, rarely unclear. However, if you don't like homework, you might find her class a little bit tough.
Very boring teacher, yet she wants her students to pass and she's very helpful when needed. Her tests and quizzes are quite easy when you understand the material. CONFUSING homework.
Karen is really nice and truly cares about her students. Physics is hard but she tries her best to help each student out individually, just ask and she helps so much! Really amazing woman :)
Too much homework that is confusing, her test questions are worth too much so if you get it wrong you loose a lot of marks, she takes off marks for nothing. And you'll fall asleep in class with her.
good teacher. gives alot of hw that is very useful to prepare for her tests. classes are okay. she is extremely helpful and cares alot, she even fed us during the final ! recommended
ya she's easy, but we ain't learning. she does same thing over & over, we do like no labs, ya everyone gets 100% or a very high grade, but how does that help your R-score and how do you learn anything
Incredibly nice person, tends to get boring but what matters is that you understand the material. And she's more than willing to help. Her HW sets are quite similar to the tests = easy.
whoa! how did she become a physics teacher? really!? good thing is that she is such an easy marker... but sooooo boring and soooo awful at explaining... you'll have thousands and thousands of handouts which do not make in sense...
Great teacher with perfectly clear lectures and teaching methods. Writes everything on the board. Tests are super easy if you do all the hwk sets. EXTREMELY helpful!
Karen is so boring. sure you get 99 or 100% in her class and that's because her tests are so easy and it's mechanics. if it were anything else but mechanics which we learnt in high school, everyone would be so lost with her cause she's a bad teacher
she is the worst teacher I have ever got. She babbles non stops and writes every single word she says on the board. She sould definitely retire, her teaching style dates from whenever. tests are easy but just because she teaches mechanics that we learned in High School already. bad teacher and not recommended at all.
I think its time for her to retire...she is so slow. the first class i actually fall asleep. The class material is easy and exams are too. To much homework though. I never did any of her homeworks set and still passed. Class are so boring and i never really got the main point cause she talks too much. And the most annoying thing she does is writting every little detail. Those who took her know what im talking about. Not bad teacher but not recommended at all
amazinggg teacher... all u have to do is show up to class and understand a little and youll get 90+... her tests are extremely easy with lots of bonus if u study.. i got 99 in her mechanics
Terribly good teacher. She might mix you up with handouts, but if you do them all, there is a good chance you can get a 90 just like I did (or more). Test are the same as homework so there will be no surprizes. Plus, she corrects them very quickly. She gives chances and planty of appointments to help you. All you have to do is ASK!
a GREAT TEACHER .Very enthousiastic about physics, tests straight forwards.Corrects them very quickly (the last one took 2 days.)Very helpful.Take personal appointment and everything will be very easy. Is there for you ALWAYS . Oh, and we didn't have labs(almost, we had 3 and 2 lab reports)If u hate lab reports it's very helpful.Just lectures, quiet interesting by the way.Highly recommended
LOL I don't understand how people could find her exams hard... When I check my teacher here for the first time it said so many bad stuff (as you see below). On top of that, I couldn't change it because it was an assigned class! But I'm glad I was stuck with her! She's incredible; I liked her and I'm planning on taking her again. So people don't study and are expecting flying grades! I admit that she gives long homework set but just do the essential and a bit of everything and you'll do excellent
AS already said. We skipped a lot of chapters. Exetremely slow. Writes EvERYthinG.Not Bad but StranGGE
Awful physics teacher. Notes are really confusing. Exams are hard... real hard. Handouts are too many and not helpful.
She is very nice and helpful. But she writes down everything she said on the blackboard, which cost lots of time.if u ask her individually, she can explain very clearly.
okay...this teacher is nice and friendly, but CANNOT teach physics! Her notes are horrible, cuz they r more complicated & long than da textbook! Avoid at all costs, but if u do get her, be prepared to study on your own! Our class did not cover many chapters as well! So those who did get her, GOOD LUCK!
Yes, she's nice, but she takes way, way, way too long to explain the smallest things. It's annoying!
Only once a student understands the material can they appreciate a teacher like Karen. She can be very helpful to those who follow what is being studied.
goes way off topic and treats the class like they are all stupid, i.e. everyone knows that atoms are very small
Patient and very helpful. She has an uncommon ability to explain complex topics very clearly. Goes out of her way to make herself available to help students.
She uses the right terminology during her lectures and is always ready to help the students during lab times. She is very nice and will never refuse to provide the help that you need!
