I have had John Blakey as my teacher for 5 years. I adore every class I have with him. He is honest and hard working and I think sometimes people interpret it as him being rude. Blakey can be sassy, but he is also a delight to work with. He will always have something positive to say to everyone (even when they are being nothing but rude and lazy). I've seen him work with grade 9 to 5th year and he understands how people grow and change. He is an amazing director and I have faith in every show!
I know a lot of people don't like him but he was pretty good. I never knew if he hated me or not but overall I liked his classes and he was a pretty good teacher
He has difficulty seeing the bigger picture which is unfortunate given that he is a director. He tends to focus on his favourite bits and leave other parts of plays or scenes without any assistance and completely weak. He's a nice guy but just as bad as my middle school drama/gym teacher.
He's great and nice. Learned a lot from him. Very funny man
He is a great teacher but tends to rant on and if you're in musical theatre and a grade 11, you automatically know nothing in his books. He also repeats a lot of the same sentences like "that's a valid point"
Oh i'm sure he's a great teacher...IF you're in gr.12 or higher (5th year).
In musical theatre, if you're in that grade- he'll have a much bigger gap of expectation for you, but he'll pay attention to your skills and take advantage of them to make the show better.
If you're a newcomer (he refers them as gr.11s) don't expect anything. He rarely ever pays attention (positive) to "those" except when there's a problem.
Aside from his BIASED views in this class though, he's just meh otherwise.
He is awsome but has his own vision the he is determine to build in musical theatre
His grade twelve english course is rather patronizing.
If he ever leaves Rosedale, he's taking the "Rose" with him.
I don't know about Blakes, really. I think he is broken inside. :(
He shouldn't be allowed to teach English. Drama only. But even then you can tell he still hates everybody.
Mr. blakey is a really busy guy but seems to care about his students. I like him a lot
I didn't think that I learnt much in his class but now that I am retaking it I learnt more than I thought thanks Mr.B you are the greatest and I miss your english and musical theatre classes they rocked keep it real.
I don't think anyone could ever understand how much of an inspiration this guy can be until your final year of high school comes. Thanks for all your help Mr. B, you really are the best teacher at Rosedale. :D
he could be a little more fun at times but he does know what he's talking about
Hey ur a good teacher in Drama but hey a little fun would be nice. I really like the the work u and the classes did on Tale of two cities.(there should have been a guillitine
Highly manipulative passive-agressive who whines about being 'taken advantage of' while he spins tall tales of his so-called goodness if u call him up on something. But beware, he'll pay you back sheepishly on your report card.
other than his attention seeking behaviour, annoying whining, and monotone droning...he's a good teacher...i guess.
im learning alot in his english class; not just about english but about life.
If he only listened instead of interupting us (students) all the time, he could become a well respected person.
If I could describe him in one word it would be "monotone".
not that great at class managing butis a good teacher i guess..
He's not too tough but not to sweet either. He enhances self esteem and is very involved in productions. It would be cool if he was to help out in SEARS.
He's a great teacher, no question there but dude, you don't want to know how he got the nickname. Don't go there-- trust me!
one of my favs ,works you hard and is still nice about it
He's an vokay guy but he needs to put his students first than the plays or shows he puts together!!
puts effort into making classes interesting even when the topic might not be
He is a great teacher and a very fair marker, Odd nickname though- Blueman?
Fun to upset or confoos, but dont *&#@ with drafts and grammar, I suspect he had traumatizing experience with a good copy, gone bad...:0dun dun dun
he teaches what you need to know and still uses humour. he's too dry!
I had him for English last teachers and he was one of the best teachers i ever had, i learnt so much from him, too bad hes not my teacher ne more!
he's a supply teacher now. I learned more in one day w/ him then I did all year
