Tells you what he wants, READ THE GUIDELINES CAREFULLY, asks you to forget everything you've learned before and learn his ways (do NOTdo this), ask him questions because some things can be very unclear. Very knowledgeable on things not relevant to the course and talks for majority of the class about something off-topic. Incredibly boring and doesn't teach. If you're one of his favourites though, you're set.
He seems nice and is really knowledgeable, but his class is very dull and he famously grades like a college professor.
He's very knowledgeable in his field but most of the time he talks through the whole class about unnecessary material. Wouldn't really recommend him but he's just ok. He marks hard but not too hard- so you've got to be a hard worker to get good grades in his class. We don't use textbooks but he always tells us what he wants to see in assignments, journals and essays. He has a lot of passion for thinking outside the box and being creative and he wants his students to love writing. :)
He is a very knowledgeable teacher. Knows his stuff well and seems like a nice guy. His class though is boring to the point where I can't stay awake. Talks 75 min straight every day sometimes repeating the same things. Don't be late in his class as he is very irritated by latecomers. Gives out decent marks for Unionville English teachers.
To be honest, Mr. Silver is a very knowledgeable English teacher. While he actually wants to teach, his class isn't very fun to be in.
Honestly he isn't the worst teacher I've ever had. If you don't understand and you ask him, he tries his best to explain. He may be rude, but he'll have good reasons for being so. As long as you give it your all and are attentive, he's pretty chill. Goes a little off topic during classes, though...
In his guitar class right now... He is a pretty strict guitar teacher. He likes to make fun with student, although he thinks it's fun but they don't think so..
his essay marking is very hard but in gr11 his presentation marking isnt that bad. if you do everything he says in detail he'll give you a good mark. he gave me mid 90s on all the presentations
I am having him right now, and I think his ok...but slightly hard. He goes for knowledge that no body knows but he repeats those information a lot because his quite forgetful. His pretty much expecting a bit too much though I think he is a decent teacher, but little bit strict.
Mr.Silver is actually a pretty great teacher. Some people may dislike him because he is strict or whatnot, but I found that through having him for both grade 10 and 11 english, I have learnt so much from him. Things from how to write an essay, to learning how to following assignment outlines while being creative, to increasing my vocabulary. Yes he teaches differently and picks favourites, but if he likes you, you're set for life. 84 in grade 10, 90 in grade 11. It's doable, definitely.
Absolutely terrible. He's incredibly boring, he marks hard and expects way too much, he's mean, and his writing on the chalkboard is illegible. He also babbles on and on about stuff no one cares about, and his voice is barely audible and extremely annoying. He does know his stuff though, it's just that he has no clue how to teach.
I absolutely cannot stand him. He babbles endlessly and actually has killed my love of English.
The best English teacher I ever had, I don't get how people can't get high marks in his class. I hope he's my English teacher till I graduate!! Honestly I don't understand how people could hate him.
If he likes you, your going to get high marks in his class. If not... your screwed.
Extremely hard marker. Picks favourites. Goes off on random tangents. Not helpful at all. Not clear at all. Simply the worst English teacher I have had. If u get him for g12 english switch out fast!
He is by FAR the worst teacher I've ever had, and I'm not just saying that. He may know a LOT, but he marks as if you're a 4th year English major...VERY discouraging and a mean, mean person.
He's not that bad actually. You just need to follow what he asks for, either from what he says or from his assignment outlines. His outlines are usually very clear and if not you can always ask him and get a lot from wat he tells you. I learned how to write a good essay from him too. and he actually gives critism that's helpful! a lot of teachers just tell you what's good and what's bad but doesn't tell you how to improve
Great teacher. I actually learned how to write an essay from him. Most people see his criticism as a bad thing, when in fact it actually helps you improve, how ironic. Personally, I did not do that well, but learned alot from his class alone.
i picked his brain in my gr 10 eng class to get a 87.3 final.. a challenging teacher to please.. but definitely possible.. and once in a while hes actually pretty good!
He marks you like a professor. Needs to realize that this is highschool, and not everyone plans on getting a PHD in english!
he was an easy teacher however he is boring needs to liven things up ex. skits, games- keeping presentations only on fri makes us skip class- lectures too much
U want stong opinions (it means none of yours)? You like your ideas getting shot down? This is the teacher for you! But he is actually really smart and stuff...
mr. silver's an awesome teacher, the best english teacher i've ever had. he's really helpful when you ask.
creates interesting discussions but does not let students debate the correct answer... shuts u up by saying your answer is an automatically WRONG.
fell asleep during our seminars, but was still a pretty good teacher
he is extreamly hard to understand. he gives grade 10 oac work.
this teacher gets me very confused. my presentation wasn't that boring was it&
He is okay and quite nice, but fall asleep during presentations! Snores too~
