Chemistry isn't easy and knowing some of the people who complain about her... well they'd suck at it no matter who taught them. Ppl complain because they want the answers spoonfed to them. She's hard as hell, but you'll leave actually *knowing* Chem. Ppl who work hard do well but if ur a lazy sod, she won't baby you.

Mrs. Sonachansingh has been teaching Chemistry for 36 years, and it has been her life's passion. Yes, she is a hard marker, but it is because she demands excellence. I know past students that have gone on to Ivy League that aced her class. Most people complaining do so because they are lazy and do not apply themselves. If you get to know her she is a very kind and patient person. If you share the desire to learn she will help you. Also, she's from Trinidad. Lovely accent. Highly recommend.

In general, a poor teacher. Her style of teaching is to simply give the class notes that are barely understandable without a textbook and expect the class to understand her explanations. She gives no criteria of how to do assignments and gives the class a grade without any form of feedback. As a result, she then proceeds to ridicule the class for not being mature which is unreasonable considering how the class does not know what mistakes they've done. It's recommended to revoke her teach license

Chemistry 11. She is a hard marker on her labs. On our first lab, everyone got 50% or under, with the exception of a few who got 75%. Her tests are fairly easy if you paid attention in class. She is constantly complaining about how we're being immature and that this is a senior class and that what we did in junior science won't cut it anymore. We don't even get a textbook in this course. I would recommend taking chem when she's gone/in summer because she teaches a majority of the chem classes.

People say she's the strictest teacher but she softened quite a lot over the years I've had her. Sometimes I would just nap or be on my phone the entire class and she wouldn't care. <--- (this is the enriched class) Her tests are mostly from past provincials (m.c.). She's a hard marker though. She tests you more on what you've learned rather than memorized. Overall, she's a good teacher. Don't slack off and good luck!

It's sad how many people see her as a bad teacher based on the marks they receive. Yes she is a hard marker but she is a good teacher and gives us ample time to complete assignments and tests. She tries to test you on how much you have actually learned versus how much you have memorized.

Not a good teacher at all! Doesnt teach at all and we dont even use a textbook! It would be so much helpful if I had used one in her class. Take Chem 11 or 12 in summer, don't take it the full year otherwise you can see a great decrease in your mark!

Deep down inside, I'm curious how awful a teacher needs to be in order to get replaced. If I ever consider teaching as a career it would be to right the wrongs caused by her awful teaching. >= (

She's too caught up on details. If you miss even a tiny detail, she will dock off half a mark (at the LEAST). :S And she doesn't teach us. She makes the students teach other.

actually, i think she's a pretty fair teacher. Like most people I used to dislike her because of what everyone has been telling me about her, HOWEVER as class progressed, i realized that her classes aren't bad at all. I actually learnt quite a bit in her classes and if you ACTUALLY TRY TO GO TO HER FOR HELP, she explains it to you until you understand. It's those that give her attitude that she happens to ignore sometimes which I don't blame her for doing.
