Isabelle Beliveau is a salty, wicked teacher that will *actually* pick her favourites and make it very difficult for those that she does'nt like - if you're on her bad side, you're basically f*cked. For example, she'll make snide comments about picking the wrong teammate if she does not like who you've chosen. Furthermore, her exams are decently hard and she's a terribly strict marker. She also leaves a lot of hw. So, just try and avoid her at all costs. If you do happen to have her, be a dear.
I strongly do not recommend, probably the worst french teacher I've had so far, only cares about her favourites and want's you to fail
She’s very Judgemental and doesn’t care about her students
I took her for 101 and 102 french and she was really nice. She really tries to make her students understand the material and will help you if you're having trouble. The only thing that I noticed is that she has favorites so as long as you bring your book and notes to every class and do your work you'll be fine. If you don't bring your books and binder to every class, she will kick you out of her class and tell you to come back after the break.
Horrible teacher. She is pretentious, condescending and is overall not a nice person. She might seem caring, but it's all an act. Stay away!
Her First Nations class was very interesting, but there's a lot of reading and homework, especially in the first half of the semester. 50% of your final grade is calculated before March break, so it's pretty high-stress. She sometimes acts like she's teaching a room of 4th graders, not college students, and it can feel a little condescending. Most assignments are based on documentaries watched partly in class, partly at home, so you need to be able to understand spoken French extremely well.
Le cercle des Premières Nations - very interesting class. The teacher is extremely organized, and I liked how the workload is gradual. She's very helpful and willing to give second chances, however, as some have mentioned, she does have her favorites. The mandatory textbook is cheap and we used it every class. NOT for the self-entitled students that expect to pass solely on the basis of showing up or for the smart-phone obsessed. Just do all the work since the exams are exactly the same format.
Like most of the people said, she definitely picks her favorited. She tends to judge you before she even know you, and if you feel you are being targeted, drop the course immediately, because she will literally find ways to make you fail. With her, for the first time in your life, you will see yourself with grades lower than 20%.
She has her favorites and unfortunately I wasn't one of them. You have to do all the work that she gives meaning homeworks, assignments and readings to get a passing grade. NEVER BE LATE TO HER CLASS! The essays that she gives are really hard and she is a tough grader. She might seem nice but she is NOT so don't get on her bad side! If you can drop or switch to another class I suggest you to do it.
Being a person that has been in french private school all my life, I find her class extremely hard. She is not easy to please at all. She tends to critic everything and has a tendency to "pick" on certain students. Once she picks on you, there is no going back. The way she grades exams is really unfair. However, her class is interesting and she does explain clearly. In my case, I was one of those students she picked on and I wished I would have dropped the class.
I took a class called Le cercle des Premieres Nations and it was awesome! Although, sometimes it was boring, she is a very energetic teacher. She sticks with her standards such as punctuality is a must in her class. She is very helpful and if you want any help she would be there for you. But, she does not give any extension at any cost and she is very precise in her work. There was no orals, only few group works, assignments, 2 essays
Such a sweet teacher. She could even be a bit more strict. Loved her, helpful. Take her if you want a good teacher and are there to work.
She is a sweetheart, go to class, if you're struggling, go see her, she will help. Don't forget to do your CAN8, it's free marks and you can do it at home.
really bad teacher, if you can try to avoid her, she discriminates and has her favs.. she will fail you with a 59, no makeups or excuses and really strict... now its up to you, make a wise decision
I had her for French 101-HSA. She was a very kind teacher. If you do the readings and the homework, you will do well. She is there at office hours, helps out, and does her best to teach. You can even get bonus marks if you do the online activities.
She obviously has a good understanding of the material. But, let there be no mistake - unless you manage to be one of her favorites, you're in for a very stressful semester. Even more so if you're lik
Take her class if you can, even if your bad in French! If you do your work you will get a great mark. She is really helpful and does everything she can to help you do well, including bonus marks. But,
Shes the worst teacher i have ever met. shes the worst grader of life,, shes the type to give u a 2.9 on 5 or a 1.8 on 5.. your work is never good enough for her even when u redo it.. first day of cla
She was a very funny and easy teacher, it feel like french in CEGEP is a joke compared to high school french. Got a 80 in her class and she's willing help any way she can. Very Strict about lates, att
Very good teacher. Her exams could be difficult, but for everything else she's a good marker. got in the 70's even though I'm bad at french, haha
she's so sweet! her classes are organized and not boring at all. don't expect to have a high grade if you slack off.
i had her for french and she was the best, im not the best in french but i listened to what she said and did my work. got 82, 15 marks higher then the class average (67). take her
I am barely good in french than others, but i worked hard and i listened to what she expected us to do, i got 5 marks above the class average in the 70s
Be on her side, and do what she tells you to, you will be fine
Be on her side, and do what she tells you to, you will be fine
Be on her side, and do what she tells you to, you will be fine
she was not bad looking. she hates when you talk in class. just go to class on time, shut your mouth, do most of your homework, and you will pass.
Great teacher, very easy, just do your work, lots of bonus marks. and you'll do fine, just be on time, and try not to get on her bad side
great teacher i loved her just make sure to be on her good side and you'll have no problems
she was ok. i did most of my hw. i showed up most of the classes. got an 85 at the end
Easy teacher if you pay attention to her. Also easy to pick-up bonus marks if you hand in your corrections (tests, etc)
This teacher will fail you if she doesnt like you even if you are good in french. She will find ways to take marks off. If you have the chance change the teacher.
Take her!! Do all your work, and you'll pass! She's a great teacher!
She is the sweetest teacher ever! Her class is not too difficult and she gives many chances. Always willing to help her students! She is AMAZING! =)
she will ADOOOOOORREEEEE YOU if you do EVERYTHING SHE SAYS TO DO! This is what happened with me and as a result: She allowed me to skip 1 class (no joke..)
good teacher but very strict, dont be late and do all ur homework because she decide to check them anytime
shes two faced she pretends to like you shes strict with her rules u have to do your homework for the extra points the girl next to me kept cheating and passed while she would keep watching me fail
Don't be late Go to class Homework counts Gives bonus. She really wants everyone to pass. You can boost your mark by doing suplimentery work. just go and see her if you have trouble. She'll like you.
She isnt like any other french teacher.. actually i really liked her class. Do all her work and you wont fail. She helps and wants you to pass if you show her ur working hard. Really niice !
good teacher will help you and make you pass.. all french teachers have a big work load so just take her
Nice teacher but puts out work on you. You can pass though if you try.
She is a nice and friendly teacher.Students who don't pay attention or draw amusing cartoon while she is teaching get a lower mark.i got 92% with her
She a great teacher.I got 95% with her. Students who did not do their homework and pay attention in class do not have a high mark in french. She also help me with my other courses.
May seem strict at first.Gives chances if you can't finish CAN8 on time.Checks hw randomly&treats every1 fair.If you're lazy then don't take her, afterall this is college not high school.work is easy
She passed me with a 63 and I didn't do my oral. If you try hard, you'll get a reward. She's nice and understanding but a bit TOO much ethuastic. Overall, OK teacher.
She's super organized and nice but strict on lates and absences. For her, extra effort = bonus points!
VERY organised, sweet,FAIR Do what she asks for and you’ll do great! Tips: NEVER miss class,NEVER arrive late (she takes points off!)she LOVES it when u put ALOT of statistics in ur texte critique..
She is extremely organized and polite. If you try hard she is willing to help!
excellent teacher! if you are terrible in french she will still give you good marks as long as you try hard! make sure you study though! studying the night before for her vocab test will do the trick!
she is a fair and nice teacher. really really organized. writes everything down. so u cant miss class or be late even by like a minute. checks hw ramndoly so make sure u always have it done. she may come across as strict but that only because she wants u to do well.
she is a really good teacher, explains really well. Just do the homework and listen in class, and you'll get a really good mark. But she's really strict about being late and missing class. I really suck in french and i did all the homework and I ended up with a 81!!
Great teacher, very easy to understand, extremely organised. She cares about everyone as individuals. Easy class, just do the homework and pay attention and you'll do great.
This woman is one of the worst teachers at Vanier. I had her for french 101 and she not only treats her students like children (she won't let you use the bathroom), but she unfairly marks her students, (she said my oral was 20 minutes! and the people in the class at the time agreed that it definately wasn't) the woman hates repeating things, avoid her at all costs. I think she wishes she were the head of the department and as a result is bitter.
Very good teacher... You could see it just by looking at her! She's incredibly thoughful for her students. This teacher is very well organized and tries her best to make everyone understand. Her quizzes are very short like 10-15 mins! It's like bonus points! On top of that you know when they are from the beggining of the session! Studying takes not more than 15 min because it's old stuff and she covers it in class! BTW I'm in 102. Always faithful to her office hours
This teacher gives way too much hmwk and too many tests. Maybe things are different for 101.... but in 102 she makes it very hard to get a mark higher then 60's....... considering i usually get 90's in french.
Cool teacher, nice person. Her class reminds me of kindergarten all over again...
She is easy, "by-the-book" and extremely nice. Does not give a second chance. Tips: DONT miss class/be late. DO ALL THE Homework even the essay plans. I dont like french that much and did everything... got the highest mark in the class.
great teacher exept sometimes she does unfair noting for students...but overall you should have no problem passing in her class if you are good in french :D
She is a very good teacher very nice and has very good teaching skills she should be promoted.
sweet teacher! Definitely makes the course easy.. but you lose marks for being late or for being absent so be careful! If you want to get an awesome grade - ALWAYS do your homework cause she checks often.. overall, a really pleasant teacher to have =)
cool lady, will always correct essays if you go during office hrs, she practically DOES em for you. study the examples in class and (for 101) the exercises in the book and it'll be fine. might help to find a friend in another 101 class... finals are the same and some classes do them before ;)
I found her French class (101) to be fairly easy! If you do your hw and study for the vocab tests, you'll get a mark over 80%. The course was easy, yet I found the final exams to be difficult! Overall a good teacher, yet her markings for the compositions are quite difficult!
urgh dont take her..i had her for french 101 and she definatly picks her favorites. let's just say i wasnt one of her pets so she made life harder for me for no reason....not helpful AT ALL..just brushes you away when u ask a question
She's ok, she doesn't always have remorse for her students, very easy, somewhat helpful, patient...take her, do you work, and ull be fine, very strict in grading, counts everythin
She is really wonderful.I just move here from LA and dont speak a word of french, but she really help and she is very encouraging. she is also understanding.
I didn't like her teaching style, do NOT take her for 102 french, to hard, boring, and don't go to the bathroom during class, she counts it as being late!
She is a very good teacher, nice and explains very well. She teaches as if we were primary school kids!! But it's good cuz she makes stuff easy to understand.
she picks on a student and make fun of him/her!...sometimes she asks a lot of personal questions in class!
she really seems to love her job and we can see that when she teaches
She is not a bad teacher....but I mean she teaches like if we were grade 3 children!!
VERy easy, WELL organised, you will feel like her own child!!She takes care of her students no matter what!! Goota take her!
very polite respects you likes to take care of her students like your elementary teacher used to its kind of nice actually a blast from the past
arrives 10min early, if you havea cell with you, she'll put it in her bag till the end of class. Really hates when someone talks, very clear examples,ORGANIZED
