Mr. van Bemmel is very knowledgeable. As a former university professor, he gives many lectures and doesn't use the textbook. He often goes off-topic from physics during class. He often gives life advice with topics ranging from how to be competent in any situation to how to experience one's days with their grandparents. His tests are NOT about long, algebraic answers, but more about truly understanding the physics concepts. The exam is VERY long and difficult and will require 3 weeks of study.

You will learn more about his personal life than you will about the subject. He taught me physics and I remember more of his peronal stories and experiences than physics. Anything I know about that subject, I had to learn on my own, save for some equations, but even the he rarely gav examples so it was a hard trek to figure out how to use the equations.
If you have him, do all the questions in the textbook, but remember his problems on the test will be much harder.

His teaching style is often a hit or miss. Personally, I found his lectures to be very boring and didn't learn much from them. However, you can tell that he's extremely dedicated to teaching.

Mr. van Bemmel makes me reflect on life and my daily decisions. His perspective of university and a model student really struck a chord. After every class, not only was I able to appreciate the science he offered insight into, but I went home with a more philosophical and introspective state. There are no words to describe his level of realism and inspiration. Without a doubt, he is one of the most dedicated teachers in North America. I am truly honoured to be one of his students.

The most dedicated teacher I've come across. I didn't do very well on his tests, but looking back, they really were not that difficult. If you don't read the textbook before his class it's hard to know what he's talking about. Talks go on tangents.

knows his subject very well. Answers any questions. Only problem I have found with his teaching is sometimes he can get carried away. When answering questions, sometimes he speaks very quickly and some things are hard to understand. His math proofs do not make very much sense, but his other teaching is amazing.
