I had an IEP, meaning I was entitled to extra time and extra help if needed. I had come to her multiple times to ask for extra time and she said, and I quote, "Well that wouldn't be fair to the rest of the class, would it?" When I came to her for more clarity of assignents (because she didn't explain ANYTHING), she told me to ask my peers. My IEP was for anxiety. I didn't know anyone in my class and I couldn't ask anyone without having a panic attack. She's the reason I dropped out of school.
very smart teacher, knows what she is talking about. however, she is an extremely difficult marker and it is almost impossible to please her.. would not recommend her for higher level grades ESPECIALLY grade 12U
Good teacher and knowledgeable, not a tough marker
I really liked Ms. Evans. I found her very nice and easy to talk to and approach if I had any questions. I didn't find her that difficult of a marker and ended up doing quite well on both the exam and the course in general
I didn't learn a single thing from her all semester. No matter how great you are at writing, it's never EVER good enough. I'm the kind of student who gets 400/400 on their Literacy Test. She gave me an 82 in the course. I think that says it all.
She's a nice teacher, and she means well, but she's an extremely hard marker compared to the other English teachers. I know grade 9 marks don't really matter, but some of the marks I got in her class were just unrealistic. I don't mind it now, but in the higher grades where marks DO matter, I would want a different teacher. She's just too hard to please.
i think Mrs. Evans is a bommmmb teacher and i think who ever dont like her and decides to rate her 1 for everything sure didnt try to hard because she is so easy to cooperate with idk what your talking about down there..
best teacher I have ever had. If you tried hard in her class and knew what you were doing, then you would get the mark. she comes off as rude but that's only because she's one of the only teachers at Cawthra who actually care about preparing you for university
god i hated her. if i met her outside of school she would probably appear to be a very nice person but as a teacher she is such a hard marker and made class so boring
Ms. Evans is a very hard marker however prepared me immensly for University... I think people just need to get a backbone and stop wining about how shes such a mean/hard teacher. I love Ms. Evans inside the classroom and out... in the classroom she is strict and outside the classroom she is truly an exceptional person. You may not understand it now but will be thankful later, trust me... Congrats on your bundle of joy Ms. Evans ....L.M
I had Ms. Evans during her 1st year at Cawthra. She was a very hard marker. When I would ask her for help, i would end up even more confused. However, after graduating from univeristy, I can honestly say Ms. Evans classes were the only ones that prepared me for Uni. Her classes were realistic, and her teaching methods were similar to that of my Univeristy professors. Work hard in her classes and it will pay off in your future!
Honestly, she is one of the best teachers I have ever had. She inspired me in so many ways... if you are complaining because you couldn't get a good mark, you probably deserved it! She makes you think for yourself - I find thats a lot better than having a teacher tell you the answers to everything. What do you learn from that? If you have a problem that is seriously impeding your learning, maybe sit down with her and talk about it... what a concept! All in all - AMAZING teacher!!!
occasionally rude? yes! hard marker? definatly! yet she's still a really good teacher, she knows how to handel the class, and notices when somebody IS working hard, and it pays off
I really enjoyed her classes.. i had her years ago.. i think it was her first yr at Cawthra.. she is tough.. but needs to be to keep control of the class.. You just have to listen, and show her you're working and critically engaging with the materials. She will respect that. After 4 years of Uni.. I can honestly say Ms. Evans was one of the only teachs that actually prepared me for Univeristy.
she is tough, but a good teacher. she prepares you for uni.
dispite her terrible rating i thought i could handle her because english is my favourite subject in the world. i was wrong. think of the coolness of Mr. Ford and minus that by infinity. that's half as bad as evans is.
Evans needs to pause for a moment and take her head out of that hypocritical box she's got it lodged in. She has the intelligence, but really must calm her hormones and learn how to handle a class.
You get people into trouble for no reason. You don't even follow your own rubrics...and your marking scheme is not even sensible because you haven't taught us anything.
Such a great teacher...taught me a lot...she's very tough but it's worth it...
Evans is a great teach - she's really intelligent and knows her stuff - she's straight up and some people can't handle that.
no offense, but u gotta stop stoping the class when u r IN THE MIDDLE OF A LESSON...because someone's head has turned out of ur view for a one second..this distrupts the whole classes learning
OK, she's a hard marker, but its worth it. Especially in prep for University. English Lit ROCKS! One of the best teachers ever!!!!
Assignments tend to be pretty open ended, but she is very helpful if you make the effort. She is extremely intelligent and a great teacher.
Ms. Evans has been an inspiring teacher. I hope she never forgets that.
She helps to make you a better writer, Yes, she's a strict marker but it's well worth it with the experience one gains!
good teacher, but leaves class too often and treats students like babiessometime
She is nice, understanding, and fair. Well educated, kind of plays favourites.
would leave classroom often/vanish; boring personality; no interest in teaching
never is prepared or in the classroom.(unsure why is getting paid)
