My boy Dr G what a wonderful human being with so much attitude. "Btw sleep is an addiction"- some guy with a phoney British accent
do not take my word for granted he is the IB director and he is not any of my teachers but he is awesome
GG well said well played
omg amazing. Phd deserving genius
DOCTA GEE PEE AYCH DEE He seems super serious at first but he's actually very funny! He's very helpful. Don't be afraid to talk to him if you have any concerns or problems and he gives the best advice ever. He really cares about students and won't mislead you.
The coolest IB Coordinator ever. He is a genius and very understanding.
Although I never had the pleasure in being in one of his biology classes, he taught me one class on photosynthesis and I still remember the entire lecture to this day (I'm in second year university)
He's great and really nice but personally I don't think he's a great teacher. Maybe because he has too many responsibilities this year, but I feel like his TOK classes aren't very well planned.
Possibly one of the most loved teachers at churchill. Extremely helpful and passionate about his work. Very easy if you attend every class and pay attention
I was just wondering if I should CS for him. He signed me up and put me in the IBO, which has a lot of workload. Does IBO CS get better, or should I change my CS teacher?
all I know is he's british and teach IB classes, seeing the coments I wish I had him as my teacher =( really nice do lol
can't believe he's only an IB Teacher. He could be anything what he wants to be
Wonderful teacher! Definitely one of my favourites from IB. Super nice, helpful, and knowledgeable.
simply one of the best teachers i've ever had. i'm in college now and choosing biology as my major. he really brought biology to life and showed us the implications it had on society. but having him as the ib director also inspired me a lot. even though he was kind of overwhelmed in his first year, i saw how one person can make so much difference in the life of others. he's hardworking, funny, and very knowledgeable.
Even though he a PhD from England, he's one of the most approachable teachers in the school.
love this man. he's so calm and collected about everything, regardless of all the frenzy going on around him.. one of the reasons why i'm so glad i went through the ib program is because i've gotten to know Dr. Gabbott. i hold the highest esteem to him. he's also got an amazing sense of humour and is a walking science encyclopedia!
I wasn't in IB or anything, but I was extremely in desperate need for help 30 minutes before my science test.. and I saw Dr. Gabbot walking in the hallway so I had to go up to him and ask him about currents, magnetism, magnetic field.. He said he was in a hurry but those 30 minutes that he used to explain everything was hands down the most I've learned from a teacher in half an hour.. he summed up the whole chapter by using drawings and explanations probably even more advanced than a grade 10 should know
The best teacher I had..ever. I'm going onto gradschool next term in biology and must say, Dr G was an enormous influence on my career choice. A whole bunch of IB grads from my year went onto bio in their undergrad and I don't think it was a coincidence. I'm just disappointed that his talents are wasted on coordinating the IB program and not spent teaching. I'm guessing all the bad ratings on this list are from students after he started coordinating?
Most amazingly dedicated and most knowledgable teacher. Too bad couldn't have him for IB12 since its his first year as IB coordinator. Very encouraging and very helpful...he was so kind I actually tried to study. Which I find alot easier to do when I highly respect the teacher.
most university profs teach because they've got a phD in THEIR area of expertise, but they DONT know HOW to teach. if u think back, kindergarden and elementary school teachers are the best, they KNOW how to approach you and help you learn effectively... DR G is AMAZING, knows how to teach, very generous, very sociable, fun, humourous....very DR G!!!
very good teacher. careful and knowledgeable. feel sorry for him a lot now that he can't teach anymore, and has to administer the IB program.
He is probably one of the most knowledgeable teachers in the entire school!!! I guess having a PhD vs. just a B ed makes a huge difference. I had him 6 years ago for IB Bio and he was my EE supervisor, he was incredible. The people who say he is "awful" most likely did very poorly in his class. He stresses self-teaching, but its perfect prep for uni/college because that is what you are EXPECTED to do. He is the BEST teacher I have ever had, even beats the UBC profs, hands down!!!
this year i started grade 8 he hant been my teacher but he sounds nice and his daughter she started this year 2
Dr. Gabbott is an inspiring teacher. It’s been 7 years since I was in his IB HL biology class, and yet he is one of the teachers that sticks out most from my entire high-school experience. He was so good, that I occasionally recall learning information I call on now, 7 years latter, in his class.
He is wonderful. I definitely think he should spend more time teaching than stuck in the ib office administrating. =(
Too bad he doesn't teach Biology anymore. He REALLY knew what he was talking about. I guess that's the difference a Ph.D in physiology makes...
An amazing teacher. Had him for IB biol HL and he was very helpful. His notes were great and he knew his things. I've heard that he's getting more strict from stress due to ib but he's still one of the better teachers i've had
[1.] i dont like how all he gives are quizes, since careless mistakes can really build up. [2.] lots of self-studying =T but he is helpful if you ask questions (and nice too) discussions are a bit boring..not funny, but interesting if you focus he's a nice guy, difficult to get him mad =) i like how labs are always due at the end of the week, so you can ask him stuff
My son learnt lots from Dr G. Very encouraging, helpful.
He was my Science teacher 13 years ago. I loathed the subject, but Dr. Gabbott was the only one who ever presented it with style and grace. I learned a great deal, and remember him well into my adult years. Science was not my forte; Dr. Gabbott made it a subject I actually looked forward to!
I love this man. Everyone in my graduating class loves him. He is so helpful, so brilliant, so concerned. He really teaches for the love of it - not distracted by the politics nor the money. And it shows. Seriously though, if you didn't enjoy his class you're either delusional or belong in the retarded class ;) Also, he drove me home once so I could pick up some homework! All the way home! And I live in Kitsilano!
The day Dr. G retires will be a day when every Churchill student...those who graduated, those still at Churchill, and those who have yet to join Churchill...will mourn the loss of the best teacher that ever existed.
Most of the time, he's nice, but I've had one experience that really made me dislike him. In this situation, he was incredibly unfair and as a result I may not be able to participate in something that is very very important to me.
Dr Gabbot was so helpful....didnt hesitate or give up when it was hard help soum1...smart too....Thx
HE IS GREAT. SUCH A GOOD TEACHER. SO KIND, SO HELPFUL, SO CLEAR, SO GOOD. I CANNOT BELEIVE IT!
Dr. Gabbott… finally I have found a podium from which I express my thanks for everything that he taught me while I was a student at Churchill. He is one of the very best teachers I have ever had, let alone one of the best at this high school. He had a great way of explaining things, so that everyone could understand. He had these quizzes that ensured that you reviewed what you had learned. Plain and simple – he is a wonderful teacher. One of those that you always remember, no matter where you are in li
absolutely brilliant, friendly and funny.has a PhD,which is very cool, shows that he knows what he is talking about.everyone calls him Dr.G,as a sign of respect and not taunting.he is,hands down, the best teacher any one can hope for.but he should teach more instead of staying in the IB office.his british accent really makes what he says clear and straightforward.gives notes in a systematic format that is easy to follow.great asset to the churchill staff.
Dr. G is beyond words. Beyond thoughts. To say that he is brilliant in every way is a complete understatement.
BEST TEACHER IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!! extremely smart and super helpful! really knows his stuff probably because hes a scientist
He's the best. Compasionate, understanding, and he's a great teacher! Always prepare his lessons in a way that we both understand and have fun at the same time! Supports UNICEF and FunRuns every year, doin more than a teacher should do... A lotta appreciation for his efforts!
Gabbott is God. He's too amazing for words. I love him.
Dr. G is EXCELLENT. he's friendly, HILARIOUS and knows what he's talking about and teaching. I'm so sad I don't have any class with him this year!!!! I also feel bad for the pre-IB's that don't get him this year for Sci 10...
I graduated from Churchill in 2000 and I will never forget what Dr. Gabbott's lessons. A truly amazing man who could get even the biggest skeptic to fall in love with Biology :)
i love dr gabbott, he is the king of teachers. definitely the best @ SWC by FAAAARR. Tries really hard, interesting and fun class too, tho mayb a bit challenging.
Awesome teacher, helps u understand life at the same time.
great sense of humour! makes fun of people (appropriately) who asks silly questions. doesn't have favourites and doesn't mark subjectively
excellent teacher, sticks in wit often, only problem is (preib10) we are missing lab time
Loved him, great teacher, knowz his stuff! his classes were informative AND fun^^ "we are behind, AGAIN!" heehee, he always says that. i really liked science/bio, definately try to get in his class.
*British Accent* OH!, YOU'RE IN THE RETARTED CLASS! LOL, Dr. Gabbott is seriously the coolest teacher I have ever had!
dr. gabbott is the best teacher in swc. honestly. hes so cool and he make science so much fun. =)
Coolest teacher so far, actually knows what he says. Great sense of humour. lucky to have him this year.
DR GABBOT IS BIG G MAN~~ i love him~~ everyone loves Dr.Gabbot~~ woot~ he's the best teacher ever~~ woot~
i love dr. gabbotT! he's awesome! probably the best teacher in churchill! I'm so lucky to be able to encounter such an excellent teacher =P
man, this guy is cool, he makes science a fun class, like literally!
He is awesome. Clear, thorough, helpful, patient, funny. Pokes fun at silly students.
One of the teachers in SWC who actually knows how to teach. Nevertheless, he make fun of students, but very appropiately~
Awesome teacher, my favorite so far! Does a great job explaining things and is VERY popular (he's always surrounded by like, 10 students). Plus, actually CARES.
teaching = not so great but he tries real hard and makes sure that everyone gets it by the end of the 14th explanation. he's still a great guy!
Dr.G is awesome! Very supportive especially for science fair. Watch the proposals though, don't try to make them the class b4. Some hard tests..but fair...
i love Dr. G!!! he knows his stuff n teaches if very well!!!funny 2!!
Dr Gabbott is the best teacher in churchill, his tests and quizzes are fair and he doesnt have favorits. he also KNOWS when to make a joke. great sense of humor
Understanding, Caring (unlike some IB teachers) but notes are usuallyt just diagrams => insufficient. gotta work extra hard in his class to get an A. but hezcoo
All of the below, he is smart, responsible, organized, but best of all he is funny and can make boring stuff easy.
Dr. G is the best and coolest teacher in SWC! very witty and clever.
Dr. G rocks!! Really tries to make lessons interesting, and will go over anything you don't understand.
Dr. Gabbott is an excellent teacher. I'm learning so much from him! I love the newspaper session at the beginning of each class!
if it wasn't for dr. gabbot i would've never graduated highschool, probably working at mcdonalds.
I LOVE DR. GABBOTT...had him for pre-ib science... it was one of my fav classes..... he taught me a lot of things...
one day we had him as a sub.. he was kidding that we had to write like a 12 page long poem.. but he looked so serious.. lol.. he seems cool.
Super Cool, no, cooler than cool, HE IS COLD!!
Best IB Teacher In SWC
dr. g is a wonderful person! he lets people pick on him, but he disses you back, too ... so funny and nice ^^
THE GREATEST, MOST DEVOTED TEACHER EVER!!!! Simply the BEST.
Yay Dr. G!! Amazing teacher! Really good at explaining things, interesting, and helpful. Never thinks there's enough time to finish everything... :)
sooO nice! i love him! i probably would have taken a science 12 if he'd teach outside of I.B!!
Best teacher i have this year. Excellent IB teacher but sign up people for FUNRUN (which is not bad).
Genius way of teaching, very knowledgable, very clear, very funny, the best!!!
AWESOME teacher! i actually understands what he's talking bout! =)
An execellent teacher and best teacher to have, the COOLEST!!
Yay Gabbot! Úr great but could improve by not making fun of mee all the time!
super cool.. best science teacher ever.. fun fun classes :)
Very nice, cares about his students and a great biology teacher.
