One of the worst teachers I've ever had (11 IB Chem). He expects us to have questions and he does his "teaching" by answering them. If we have no questions, we get a quiz. He picks on his students A LOT and makes everyone feel pretty uncomfortable. Also, his questions are so irrelevant eg. "What's your favorite type of reaction?" He posts assignments at 10 PM & expects us to finish them for the next day, which is totally unfair. Disappointing to have such an ignorant teacher, especially in IB.
HE IS SOOOOO BAD. He doesn't teach properly. He just rambles on for like 5 hours STRAIGHT and in his rambling that you can barely understand, he will add something to the test. He makes you do assignments that take up most of your time and doesn't mark it. He gives you 15 minutes to do a TEST! The class average in grade 12 bio is so low. I don't even know why he teaches, his labs are unnecessary. If you have him....SWITCH OUT! Or else good luck dying in his class.
Pourkhatai is a God if it was possible I would want him to teach all my subjects.
My experience with Pourkhatai was a fraud. He is a two faced individual who is so full of himself. My son has told me that his teaching methods are ineffective - pop quizzes, an unreasonable amount of homework, letting students mark others work, making very hard tests, constant yelling, and the inability of providing extra time for his needs. I don't know WHO Pourkhatai thinks he is, but he is lowering the confidence of many students every semester. I hope he gets fired.
I couldn't understand the way he teaches. Class average for Biology was 64% and blamed everyone for this. Unreasonably rude and hates it when questions are asked. Tests are super hard. Never writes notes on the board so you'll have to research a lot. No point of coming to his class when you can learn more at home.
This man is so intimidating at first and it takes you a while to get used to his humour. He teaches through discussions and barely writes/gives you notes so make sure you're always listening in class. DON'T YAWN, DON'T LOOK LIKE YOU'RE NOT INTERESTED. I can't learn from his teaching style... you have to do a lot of research yourself. and his quizzes are so irrelevant sometimes.
dont look tired in his class or he'll roast youu. but hes really funny and a great teacher.
This teacher is very strict at marking. He gives us random pop quizzes that bring everybody's marks down. Usually, he gives us Grade 12 IB work even though the class is supposed to be at a Grade 10 Academic level. If you get him, please switch right away. Even the smartest students don't end up with the highest marks.
Very intimidating. Yells a lot. He is super knowledgable and we do have fun times in class but for the most part all I was during the coarse was stressed beyond measure. Highest mark was an 82 and this guy has done a Canadian wide competition and won third so if that's the highest mark imagine the other ones. He does pick on students a lot. Whether or not you like him really depends if you show you care about the coarse or not (work) but he will throw you off guard. More that once. Like a lot.
"Don't worry about it"
"Did I wake you up again?"
"Maybe you should go yawn and nap in the office"
"You like looking at the clock?"
~The man, the myth, the legend Mr. Pourkhatai
Smartest science teacher I've ever known. He loves to make jokes about students, but it's all in good humor, and outside of class, he is the chillest guy. Everytime you walk out of his class, your brain feels so enlightened, like a thousand fairies are jumping on your head spreading fairy dust around. Now I can actually understand the weird-sounding ingredients on the back of food items.
You will never have another teacher like Mr Pourkhatai. He is probably the most knowledgeable teacher in the science department and will always go out of his way to help you. Once you realize that he is actually a softie and cares SO MUCH about his students (academic wise and personally), you will see that he is truly the best.
Always asks questions if you don't understand ( that will postpone those quizzes he gives in the last 3 minutes of class) and if you're a good student, you'll love him.
At first chemistry is a hard subject, but with Mr.Pourkhatai's help, I understand about chemistry. He really nice and demand perfection on your calculation for labs. Don't come late, yawn and sleep; just pay attention to the blackboard and take good notes. Make sure you ask questions if you don't understand and he will be happily to give an example.
He likes to pick on kids but he was amazing, if u get him as your teacher dont go to the bathroom, dont sneeze dont yawn just pay attention. he is a softie at heart and when you are not his student after he is the nicest man and he is good looking:)
It might take you a few months (OR YEARS) to not be intimidated by this guy, but honestly, if you do your best to be a good student, you can poke fun right back at him. His soup tastes amazing and he knows his stuff. Thats all you need to know.
Some tips: When printing hw, print double sided. When writing labs, consult the guidelines (formal & IB style lab reports). He cares about your marks as much as you care about them, so if you have any questions at all, go and ask him. Seriously. Go. He`s not very clear about due dates for projects, but DON`T procrastinate or you`ll regret it. Study hard on your own and ask him exactly what you need to know. Overall, he`s an awesome teacher. If he yells, don`t be scared, just laugh. XD
Sooooo..... Mr. P. He liked me in the beginning caz i called STSE but then got neutral when i failed STSE. Advice: Dont yawn, pay attention, participate well enough, and never text/ play on ur phones or other electronic devices. He knows his stuff.
He's a great teacher. But he yells at students often for making small mistakes (eg: Asking him if you could go to the washroom)
Mr. Pourkhatai. He knows his stuff for teaching biology and chemistry. He picks on and yells students a lot so you have to get used to it. I dont think he is that bad or might be even kind if he gets to know you. I felt that he actually did care about his students in his own way but he was pretty hard at marking. His style of teaching is also laid back like no powerpoints and just boardnotes.
Mr Pourkhatai may scare you at first (or for the whole semester) , but he definitely knows what he's doing. He's the best chemistry teacher I've had. Beware: talk in class, but not too much, or else y
First he was soo intimidating. He picks on people and literally makes fun of you. Do not , I repeat do not yawn in his class and do not stare at him for too long. He takes off random marks on tests!
Probably one of the best teachers I ever had in my life. Once you get to understand his sense of humour, you will realize he is nowhere near intimidating. He always wants what is best for his students
wants you to succeed, kinda trolls us about tests and quizzes, interesting sense of humour. DO YOUR HOMEWORK AND ASK QUESTIONS. his teaching method is different but a nice person outside of class
he's the most awesome teacher ever once you get used to his sense of humor. He likes to save paper and print stuff in small font, but then again, u can submit ur assignments the same way =)))
nice teacher pretends he doesn't care about his students but in reality he does
Amazing teacher, takes awhile to understand his sense of humor, but once you do he's a great teacher! ...even with the small fonts...
Has a dry sense of humor. He pops a joke at you all emotionless its pretty funny. He teaches well and at a fast pace. Only problem is his test/quiz fonts are small and he is a hard marker in general
"Anything else...es?"...."What's so funny? I don't get it."..."They told me to say it...the science office."///////"Take it off." -student: You want me to take off my jacket?-"Yeah."
A fun teacher who absolutely loves organic and environmental chem. Teaches quite a bit, though in his own unique style and with a dry humour that might be hard to understand. Font and papers are small
if he gave us an assignment after exams, i wouldn't be surprised. he will waste your time as you wait endlessly in line behind a million students cause he doesn't explain things at all
Not the easiest teacher, but if you actually take the time to do everything you're supposed to, you'll be fine. I loved his class after a while though, his humour is an acquired taste... just don't drift off in class.
i think he is fair.. he does give low marks to those who really deserve it.. i like him and his teachings...
funny guy and very nice..well he could be mean at times but still hes my fav teacher because he knows how to teach! :D
i loved mr p he was such an awesome teacher, his humour killeeeeddd me and i learned SOOO much he is the BEST
Such an awesome teacher!! =) Scary at first... but spend some time in his class and you love it!! He really cares about his students. Not an easy marker tho...
I'm going to miss Mr. Pourkhatai :'( He's really caring he just doesn't show it...he tries to be secretive and mysterious *rolls eyes* lol
jokes jokes..."so on and so forth", 1.35/7 on a quiz! wow...good teacher...fun times. he actually marks pretty easy. seems scary at first but hes not and NEVER sleep in his class!!
You either hate him or love him. You hate him if you're a lazy student. You love him if you're a good student. His humor is an acquired taste. He cares about you, even if he's unsensitively blunt sometimes. Loved him.
'that is totally wrong', never thought a teacher would say 'totally'. he's always willing to help and he does have a sense of humor and the marks 0.25..... jokes good times...
haha this man is pure jokes.. ur ready rite? hahaha.. he marks hard tho.. but its for ur own good.
"You're ready rite?"..hahaha..funny..2nd best teacher..mr.p
all i have to say is...."you like?" funny times mr p, funny times
Mr.P is one of the sweetest, funniest, and smartest teachers at our school. He's one of my favourite teachers! His marking may be hard but it's for ur own gud..
Mr. P is rellie scary at first....but after being in his class once i think he's the coolest and funniest!
Mr P IS THE BEST TEACHER AT VP..U ROCK MR POURKHATAI!!! THE BEST TEAHER EVER ...
o.O Let's see, if he had given me a LEVEL FOUR AVERAGE IN SCIENCE..hell ya i wud love him but no..LOVED D WAY HE TEACHED US BIO! Very valuable info! yaaaah
He's one of the most knowledgeable teachers in the sci. department. Sure, he's a little moody at times, but that just adds to his hilarious character.
