Teaches college level English as if it were university level. Gives very little help when asked questions and does not give extra time on assignments to IEP students. His quizzes are completely based off of how good your memory is of small details

gives tonnes of work and is tough on marking. Every day late is 10% off and after 3 days you get zero. He calls out on people randomly and makes you feel bad if your answer is wrong. If you put your hand up and actually know the answer chances are he’s not actually going to pick you he will pick the shy girl sitting in the back.

We're doing a huge assignment and the other day my computer messed up and didn't save it. I told him right away and he didn't even give me an extra day - it's 10% marks off each day it's late. And my laptop broke lastnight so I can't do it over the weekend to have it done on time, like I planned. I told him right away again, he said "that's your problem". I have a 56 in his class when I had an 89 last year. He says it's bc I did bad on a test and don't do homework when I do all homework he gives

He's only a good teacher if you are also a good student. He definitely teaches at a high academic level and expects all of his students to be high academic as well. If you aren't an academic student, you will certainly fail his class.

He's a good teacher if you're a good student. If you slack off in his class you won't do well, but if you put all your effort in he will give you a good end mark. Went into the exam with a 78 and came out with a 85. I didn't even do well on the essay. Honestly just don't be a goof in his class, he teaches you what to expect in university!!! Very old school.

Although he gives lots of work. It really pays off. If you are in class I learn you will learn A LOT but if you don't put any effort into school you will hate him. He is definitely an authentic ACADEMIC teacher. He really teaches you how to teach yourself. Big perk.

He is not a bad person but he is a terrible teacher. He overworks his students and moves along at a ridiculous pace. He is always finished a unit way before all other teachers in our school.

Mr. Annear is a teacher for an academic student, but not so much if you are any other type of learner. He is funny, but stubborn. The random quizes are very annoying, and he gives tons and tons of work. He certainly challenges the intellect of the student. That being said, he is a very intelligent man, and a big plus in my book is that he marks unit tests in a'what you deserve'fashion (that is, he will give you 100% even if you didn't get every question right); however, the tests are very long

At the time his lessons seemed to hard to understand and seemed like they were going to be pointless. Looking back now he has been the only teacher that effectively teaches you how to teach yourself

Sure he was tough, but if you actually try he is fair. He really showed me what it was going to be like writing papers in university. Be thankful to have him as a teacher, it will pay off later.

For all those who gave a bad review, Doug is one of the most talented teachers a ACS. Students that were serious about his class learned A LOT. He is a no BS teacher. We need more teachers like that
