Everyone has said it already.... Dawn may be under-rated as a teacher, she may be knowledgeable about printmaking, but she was always running around, so you couldn't get any help from the teacher.
Your safe Dawn has finally retired, nice person, but always rushing around frantically, wish I could have had some one-on-one time with the teacher to improve my technical knowledge of printmaking.
Usually very frenetic and irritable, but came back from her sabbatical renewed and refreshed, too bad she is retiring.
Outstanding teacher: very knowledgeable, committed, passionate about her field and keen to share her expertise, clear in both explanation of subject matter as well as expectations from students, and amazingly patient with the fumbling beginner. Very clear, detailed hand-outs. Precise and detail-oriented, but also sharp, does not suffer fools gladly. Made me love printmaking and want to try more things. She taught me both in the adult programme and night school classes.
Not very first year friendly, you just have to work under your own steam power. The skills you acquire will depend totally on your own determination, because she doesn't give you many chances to improve your technique.
Class is slow, progress from one assignment to another seems to move along at a snail's pace. Wish we didn't spend so much time on one project.
I had graduated in 2002, but Dawn was one of those teachers that I will always remember and was very fond of. I enjoyed the subject she taught and still wish to be in her class.
Incredably great as a teacher. I'm a former student of her from CTS' Adult Art Program. Jenny McMillen
Fabulous teacher - inspirational in creativity and traditional in techniques. A pleasure to learn from.
Very hard, very demanding.. I liked her class though. Print making is really fun to do.
