told stories for 60 minutes taught for the last 10. he was not helpful
David Sutherland is the best teacher I have ever had. Truly an awesome individual.
Mr. Sutherland is a good science teacher at Centennial. He is available for extra help when needed and takes up homework in detail to ensure the students understand all concepts taught. You can tell his passion lies in physics which makes him a great physics teacher. He is also very nice and friendly in the school halls. Mr. Sutherland is a good science teacher that I recommend.
Awesome stories, show that you care. but it's physics.. so it's still hard
Physics is hard but if you have suds you'll be having a good time in class whether you have a 90 or a 60. Funny guy, great stories, and genuinely cares about his students. Sometimes goes through lessons too fast, leaving all but the elite students reeling in the dust of physics confusion. He does teach in great detail though, for example, going beyond just handing us an equation by explaining how said equation was actually derived. All in all a great person and teacher.
The only reason I survived grade 10 english was Sutherland. Super nice, becomes friends with his students, and passed me when I probably shouldn't have passed 10/10
Mr. Sutherland was by far the best teacher I've had at centennial so far, he has an amazing bubbly personality and is excited to teach new science concepts! He also provides a great story to back up most concepts which made them easier to remember. He provided humorous jokes to help us remember the key concepts. Incredibly kind guy, I hope to have him as a teacher again in the future, definitely take his class if given the opportunity!
Sutherland goes beyond the scope of most teachers and explains the applications in our world today of all the physics he teaches, often telling the history behind much of the material you will learn. He's is straightforward, clear, and can tell when the class does not understand something. I appreciated his neat writing and the details he put into his diagrams. He really makes you appreciate physics and it's applications. Sutherland even lets you be late every now and then. Maybe more..
8/8 great stories
Impossible to say anything bad about this teacher. Hilarious, smart, he knows all the tricks to keeping a student engaged. The most fair marker Centennial will ever have. Take his science classes, it'
yeah dont expect a lesson from him but really cool classes, great stories and really understanding
A science educator of the same caliber as Sagan or Nye.
His enriched science classes were fabulous, he is a really nice person and pays close attention to the class. If you are not focused he tells a story to recapture you interest! Keep up the good work!
mr sutherland is great.. he expects you to take initiative by learning on your own off the textbook - prepares you well for university
If you want to go to a good school like MIT, Berkeley or Harvard, then pay attention to Sutherland. It has worked in the past. And do your math homework!
Hes a good person, but not a really good teacher. he needs to prepare notes for his classes and not expect his students to understand the material automatically.
Suds is the best teachers, his classes are always fun, and if you have questions or get stuck he actually helps you until you get it
Suds is one of the best teachers, if not the best teacher ive ever had!
Dude, he's awesome! He makes me excited about science (although I zone out and don't hear lots of important things). I love the stories!
He's great and makes science a pleasure. I only pray that I get him for Physics next year!-new note...I do have him for physics next year!! YAY...!!Go me!!
he has his favourites and if you're not one of them... judges intelligents by how hard you try and not what you are capable of.
Sutherland is the best physics teacher ever. I learned enough in his grade 10 physics class to sleep threw first year physics at university and still get an 80%
Sometimes lectures in ways that confuse students, incorporating too many advanced ideas with the required curriculum. Misquoted: "In conclusion, quantized"
Hawkman's favourite teacher. Many people complain about him, but its just cuz they are dumb. If you're smart, you will love him.
