Kindest person I've ever met. Taught me a lot. RIP Mr. Brewer!
The most important teacher I had in my career as a student, even more than my university profs. David Brewer not only made you realize the importance of lighting, sound and scenery in the theatre, but gave his students a greater appreciation for the role these elements play in your life. I graduated from his classes and within days I was working full time in professional theatre communities.
He's a great guy! If you think he hates you then he will, if you laugh and make a few jokes with him he's cool. I know he loved me during the musical, so that was a plus.
Without David I wouldn't be the Tachie I am Today. If you like and understand the world of Tech-Theatre then you will like him but everyone else seem afraid of him.
He knows his subject but he has a cruel streak in him that uses humiliation and degradation to get his point across. He makes me feel very uneasy as he bellows unnecessarily at us!
Knows lighting well. Doesn't know sound nearly as well. That's why the music dept. has to hire outside help for major shows.
Mr. Brewer mademe the techie I'm now in training in university to be. I'd be on the street without my Brewer
David Brewer is the best techie EVER. Everything he taught me not only stuck... but is was the best and most correct information. Thank you.
His name is *David* Brewer, not Jim, and he is one of the finest teachers ESA has ever had. Good luck, Mr Brewer, and thank you.
Takes lighting way too seriously, makes me wonder what he does in his spare time, adjust gels?
