If you have a different opinion, once he picks up your work, you will inevitably fail. He's a biased teacher who treats the work of students with a haste which guarantees that the students' work will be marked with a bias. Has no set curriculum, doesn't do much review. Does not give many assignments, which implies that he gives little room for improvement, and less chances to work against his bias. Most irresponsible and UN-proffessional teacher ever.
Took English 20AP with McMillian and loved it! Will be taking English 30AP next semester. I looked forwards to his class every day. He encourages student participation, but doesn't force you to talk. I loved the discussions that our class had. He will let you make your point, even if you ramble a little. Grades fairly, gives amazing opportunities to succeed, very approachable. I was worried he'd be grumpy at first, but he's actually really nice! He's also quite funny. I really loved his class!
I don't like him. He's a lazy teacher that seems like he doesn't care about his students marks. He only hands back assignments when you ask him. He acts like he's the smartest man but he really isn't. I don't recommend him at all.
When I came into McMillan's class I loved the depth of philosophical discussions we had, but as the course went on I realized that he likes to say things for shock value and not always to prompt insight. He is very adamant about seeing things a certain way, as such my essays suffered because my thoughts don't align with his. He is a really hard marker, and it doesn't help that he makes contradictions about how to write. Not my fave.
Mr.McMillan has been my favorite english teacher in high school so far. He is very insightful and I found his class very interesting. He is known to be a hard marker or kind of strick. However, if you work hard and pay attention you are bound to do great.
I enjoyed having him as a teacher for English 20, but I had to do a lot of work to get good marks in his class. He definitely helps you with writing well, but he also is a pretty harsh marker sometimes.
Mr. McMillan is the most intelligent and quirky man I have ever met. I love him, he is by far my favourite teacher. He makes class super fun; his class was the highlight of my year. I miss him, and I'll really miss having him as an English teacher. He as very harsh on his essay marking, but otherwise, everything else is pretty chill, and easy. I recommend having him more than anyone.
Beware! He is an extremely smart man. However he is extremely demanding and is set in his ways. It seemed like as soon as we entered the class he had already decided what grade I was to get. No matter how much effort I put into my work I couldn't get my mark up above 80. He is very strict and can be very intimidating. I just didn't get the feel that he really cared at all. He was just there till the bell rang and was gone. If you're encouraged by intimidation stay, if not get out.
Great teacher, had him last year, wish I had him this year! Very knowledgeable, loved being in his class!
The greatest teacher, Some people find him demanding and strict but he is only teaching us to think for our selves. Some teachers will only prepare you for the exam, he more that prepares us for an ex
The best teacher I have ever had, hands down. In the beginning, I will admit he was a bit intimidating, but this man is an incredible teacher. He inspired me so much back in grade ten and I am still s
Best English teacher I've ever had. Taught me how to think rather than how to write. Admittedly I could probably use a bit more work on my writing, but thinking tends to be more important.
Favorite teacher of all time. English classes with this man are wonderous. He's a phenomenal teacher in every aspect. Despite being critical of his students work, it is in the spirit of improvement.
He is the best English teacher. He specifies what he expects, unlike other english teachers. He helps you learn how to think critically. He's not easy, but he is definitely helpful! He is the best!
You rock, Mr Macmillan! (This is plainly exhibited in excerpt from page 68, "Teachers who are awesome.")
I love how he forces you not only to think in different ways. At the beginning, his assignments will seem hard, but in the end not only your writing will improve, your critical thinking will as well.
He really is able to force you to think in different ways and analyse all options. If you support and explain your arguments with examples, you will do well. Quiet, but nice and provides good feedback
He rewards critical thinking and SUPPORTING YOUR ARGUMENTS. That's all he asks. If you use your heads you can do well. My English mark went from 60% the year before to 90% in his class. Great guy.
Mcmillian is a tough teacher...but I guess he teaches you well cause hes straight forward
Not great for Japanese, and in english he just wouldn't explain what he wanted. Plus, he just didn't get the band class.
He's a great guy! Awesome at explaining abstract concepts with concretes using examples like Darth Vadar.
He's a great teacher! He might seem dark and tough at first, but once you get to know him he's a ball to talk to! He seems to really love what he teaches.
Really hard Japanese teacher. Didn't understand and wouldn't help students who 'just don't get it'. Stay far away!
