Listen, Coke is fine. She's not the best in the world but that's because she prepares you properly. If you get coke, and you have a solid knowledge in math you will succeed. If not, study. As it stands, Coke is the best option, so take it.
There was another student in my class with the same name as me, and Ms. Coke called that student by (our) first name, but used my full name to address me. She also, on several occasions, accidentally called me by the name of a student she taught many years ago who apparently looks like me. I don't think this woman knows who I am. To her, I am a variation on a more popular student by the same name, or a ghost of a student she once knew. Whatever, I did pretty well in her class.
She's a good teacher, teaches from the smartboard, kind of does like a powerpoint but she adds examples of the question for students to try out. Tests are usually okay and fair. Harsh marker takes off points for almost everything. Has no filter when she speaks, insults students without thinking about it twice. A bit of a drama queen. Overall,if you have no self pride, yeah you'll like her class.
Terrible teacher, she doesn't know how to grade tests. Odds are if you liked her you were probably a nerd or had little social life...
good teacher, but her tests are too easy and it does not prepare top students for math contests
No problems. Our whole class liked her (I think). Tught us a lot of useful stuff about money.
did really well on my AP Calculus exam thanks to Ms. Coke :) She is tough, but fair. She prepared us well, but you have to do your work.
Ms. Coke taught me AP Calculus this year. The whole class thought she was great. She taught us 4 courses between Sept and June. It was tough, but it was University Calculus. Ms. Coke was thorough, knowledgeable, and caring. AWESOME TEACHER,,,,,,she really prepared us well for next year at University.
BEST TEACHER I HAD IN MY 4 YEARS AT MERIVALE. FAIR, DISCIPLINED, RESPECTFUL. DIDN'T LET THE YAHOO'S GET OUT OF CONTROL. I HATE WHEN TEACHERS HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THEIR CLASSES. YET SHE IS VERY NICE.
s in university;THIS DOESNT PREPARE YOU FOR UNI AT ALL, ITS DONE ALL WRONG WITH HER. Retook advanced functions in night school and got a 97.
Mrs. Coke is a great person and a great teacher! I'm currently in her G. 12 Advanced Functions class and I love it. Her lessons are very organized and well-explained, and she really prepares you for University. In grade 10 and 11 my teachers used the level system tests which in my opinion are garbage. I'm thankful that I have Mrs. Coke now because she is helping me overcome my time management issues when it comes to writing tests; so next year at university I don't get a beat down. A Teacher!
She explains her stuff, but she doesn't really teach. Most of the time she just puts up an overhead or just gives you a review and you study. She also doesn't really halp you with questions.
I'm not sure about all of you, but I actually like her way of teaching and I found it really easy to follow along with the lesson.. :)
shes a nice enough person however she really needs to learn to teach. a person cannot learn from reading an over head.
I can't learn from her it's always overheads and explains it over once and expects you to understand. Almost all the students in her class hate her, she wont go one on one with you to help you she'll just repeat what she said before and expect you to understand it again. We have a second teacher in there learning with us for fun and she teaches us better!
I am an Ontario Scholar getting marks in the 80's and 90's with the exception of Coke's functions class. She doesn't teach-she has overheads up. She doesn't review homework for problems or concerns. She humiliates students who approach her for help. She does not seem to like teenagers at all.
I have friends who could teach math better then her. Honestly I am doing the 4U course with her and she doesnt teach math at all, most of the stuff she does VERY different from the way other teachers since grade 1 teach. She is the WORST math teacher I have ever had!
i have her in grade 9 and she always picks on me when she knows i dont know the answer (but dont worry i know the answers most of the time) and she is probably very suprised when i do get the right answer lol
Ms Coke came to Merivale when I was in High School, and the majority of students hated her. This women believe she's a Math Genius lol... she had trouble with problems at the board! And she has a very unpopular attitude.
My first and second year Calculus Profs in University taught better, and were far more intelligent. They wouldn’t surprise you with anything you haven’t really covered.
Coke's actually really cool once you get to know her. One time she spent the whole class talking about her triathlon. All in all, she's an alright teacher.
Great teacher. at first i thought was in for tough time, but know it's fun, i learn, and i get away for calling a kid a monkey.
had her in grade 11 math last year. She seems extremely strict at first but then sometimes she will bring you ice cream and stuff. She helped me a lot.
Sounds like she's a bad gr.11 and 12 math teacher, but I was in her gifted gr.9 math class this year and she was awesome! Although she appears to be super strict, she really isn't once you get to know her. Also, with the gr.9 curriculum, she seemed to know what she was doing. You'll have to ask the question if you need help though, because she won't explain it if it's not necessary. She's a fair marker and her tests are challenging but not hard. I enjoyed having Ms.Coke as my teacher this year!
In university calc now, and had coke in gr. 11 and 12. Was certainly the best math teacher i had at merivale. Her class was always fun and while she seems strict at times she is really an awesome and very interesting person....Has great stories too.
One day while teaching a lesson she looked at her notes and said "I don't understand this...hold on a second." May I add that SHE wrote the notes? aarggh. She's a nice lady, I won't deny that, but she needs to have better communication with students, and learn how to teach.
I have nothing against Coke, though I must say I did better in university calculus than in her class. I'd take her again, though her extra units are useless and a waste of time.
I like Calc cuz of my prof not cuz of her! Had her 4 Gr. 11&12! chews gum, hands in er pocket, good notes, mediocre tests(study!), she'll shame u in public if ure not doin well. :(
wow! does not kno how to teach. waste of taxpayers money. im in uni now and i have A.. no thanks to her i learnt more in summer school. doenst admid she knos nothing about calc!
She is the KINDEST teacher. She teaches well and hits right on the point. just watch out for her tests
She knows a lot and if you actually TRY to learn and ask QUESTIONS, she can teach you a lot. If you dont ask, she won't know you dont know, and continue on.
She can't teach, she doesn't teach and she ADMITS IT. she gets confused while explaining her lessons
Hey, I'm in University now, and I thank her for EVERY MOMENT in calculus, you'll thank her later when you find calculus easier than others in first year math.
Good notes, very organized, motors along in the course. An overall good teacher.
Nice person who can't teach. Oh and get your hand out of your pocket. )
she know's her stuff inside and out! one of the BEST teachers i have ever had!
She learns what bugs you then pokes at it... not cool
If she can't get out a library how can she teach math
