Clyde Sokugawa
suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuper hard tests, still helpful teacher
Quite a humorous guy! LOVES to roast students (but he means well, of course). Just don't do anything stupid or goofy in the first month or so in his courses and you should be in his good books for most of the year.
If you plan on taking Law 12, he's actually a pretty great teacher. Literally a free block. Usually he hands out a little worksheet and you can complete it in 5-10 min leaving the rest of class for whatever. Tests are pretty medium. If you study you'll pass, I mean, I'm a minimal-effort student and I'm getting an A. Also funny :) You don't really need to ask him for help, it's all in the pretty straightforward and in the textbook
funny teacher but lots of work
All you have to do is finish all your homework and not fail your tests, because homework is worth a lot. He is really nice if you stay on task and don't annoy him.
Good teacher with a sarcastic sense of humor. One of my favorite teachers by far!
In this class, you will be writing a lot of assignments! The assignments are fairly straight forward, but questions are often implicitly written in texts. His tests are not as bad as others may think-- it follows multiple choice, short answer, and two essay questions. If you can make connections very well, you'll do fine. Sokugawa jokes about students a lot-- he doesn't mean it of course, but it's always nice to laugh at ourselves and sarcasm. Excellent clarity-- discusses beyond the textbook.
he's actually one of the most knowledgeable teachers at BN. if you ask him something he WILL give you the answer and it usually is more than what you would have ever expected. although he comes off as being one of the most strict teachers at BN, he's extremely caring. he's a great teacher and has been for quite a while. I'm lucky to have had him!
He might not be the best teacher for everybody, but I like him a lot. He has some interesting irreverent humor. I guess most students would find his exams hard, but if you're reasonably intelligent they aren't so bad.
Terrible teacher. Terrible marker. Takes off 0 marks for missing 2 questions. Takes off 2 marks for forgetting to put a date. Projects are marked very differently from daily assignments. Sok would rather you to do what everyone else is doing rather than trying something new and subtle when working on a project. If you're a hard-working student, the only reason you're not getting 100% is because of your teacher's errors.
awesome teacher! i had him for my grade 10 and grade 11 socials teacher as well as my supervisor as a christmas cheer exec. if you actually get to know him, he's really chill but at the same time prep
Im not gonna lie, he is a really tough teacher and theres a lot of pressure in that class. his tests are horribly hard as well but the projects and worksheets are easy. Theres a lot of note taking in
He's not a great teacher as he's extremely strict. Being in his class requires you to do a lot of individual learning. Moreover, his tests are somewhat unfair and his projects lack clarity.
Do your homework, study for your tests, and it's an easy A
I don't get all the hate! Just do your work and hand it in some time before term ends and you get an A.
he doesnt take his job seriously...just messes around....he loves white girls best
Get on his good side and stay there. U'll learn alot from him
he's alright if you are on his good sides. His test is really hard xD
He's mean if you get on his bad side. He gives out WAY too many worksheets with WAY too many questions. The tests are very long and hard also. Lekakis FTW!
Sokugawa is a great teacher! He doesn't deserve a 2.5 grade. He's a hard teacher, but he's a great teacher. His class helps you learn and develop life skills. If you work hard you will get an A.
if your on his good side it should be easy, otherwise your pretty much screwed assigns work and then leaves the class barely teaches all in the textbook and handouts
his worksheets dont match up with our textbooks.. so you have to guess for the answers. also, he doesnt help very much when u have a question.
as long as you joke around with him and talk a lot (but not too much), he should like you and give you a decent mark. he has tons of useless worksheets though... which i'm sure he barely looks at.
He really knows his Geography! He preps you well for the provincial exam. He is hard and you really do have to work. He doesn't like students who slack off and are lazy. He's also very caring.
Mr Sokugawa is an amazing teacher. I really have not enjoyed social studies so much in my life. He is extremely helpful and full of sharp wit. I enjoyed every single moment in his classes.
I agree he's hard, but he's not that bad of a person. If you're one of those who only know how to hide your head in your textbook and study, you won't do well. You need to socialize with him, chat with him, become friends.
Even though he's harder than all the socials teachers I've had, he was the only socials teacher that I didn't sleep through class because I actually stayed awake through his class.
tests are so difficult.. i dropped 11% after the test!! the M/C are really confusing, really similar answers.. many ppl failed... make us copy tons of notes then go out and chat...
His tests are hard.. but he's not too bad for a socials teacher... get us well prepared.. even tho his no brain activities are really stupid. and hes not helpful unless ur his fave
I hated socials studies... but with him teaching it was fun! Yes I agree his tests were hard, but did you see all those high tech stuff he used? this was 5yrs ago = )
geo 12- 3 years ago. What he taught me in geo 12 was beyond what classmates at UBC in geo 101 had learned and for this reason i don't believe in the accuracy of the ratings here.
I graduated from BN a year ago, and I have had him before in Geo 12. All I have to say is that his notes are very well organized. Tests are okay.
he is a bad teacher..test r like so hard and questions i never seen b4...wants everything to be perfect..and favours ppl..thanks god hes not my summa scool teach
good guy :-) pity he doesn't teach tech leadership anymore, as he rocked at that.
his tests are really hard..it has nothing to do with the stuff we learn in class
socializes too much, plays favourites, and his tests are full of stuff I have never seen. Geog 12
