Clint Lovell "borrows" historical letters and such from others and refuses to return them stating they are "Public Domain" but then uses these to write his own books! I have heard this from several people, including the Military Museum in Sutton!
Mr Beer is a better teacher in my experience
I haven't had Mr. Lovell yet, but I will have him for Grade 10 history next semester. I have spoken to him, though, because we share a strong interest about the Second World War. He is extremely knowledgeable, and he is very nice. He has written a book called "The Boys from Barrie" about deaths from Barrie during the war, and it is a very good book. Mr. Lovell has an extensive collection of war medals, SS insignias, and Japanese Military broaches. Apart from his teaching, I quite like his style.
Most boring teacher I have ever had, 9 people have dropped his class. Almost fall asleep every day with his boring tone and repetitiveness. Talks during work time then tells us to hurry up. Same stories everyday, and wouldn't even cut class short to do terry fox run. Yells at people if on phones for a second and calls us immature. So full of himself should be teaching at university level if at all.
I was in Mr. Lovell's grade 10 academic history course and have never had such a knowledgeable teacher. He is very open to helping students who need it and can answer any questions you may have. The only downside is if you made even the slightest mistake he will know!
The coolest guy ive ever met he really knows his history, civics, and so on. He is the most nicest guy ever and everyone loves him
Mr.Lovell really knows what he is talking about but he never stops talking. He will ramble on an on and on and expect you to be able to retain every small piece of information he speaks. Whenever you don't understand something he will dismiss you completely or yell and swear at you. He deducts many marks for unnecessary things. It is near impossible to get a good mark in his class. I don't believe the way he treated the vast majority of our grade 10 class was appropriate, kind or respectful.
He was gone for almost 2 months out 'of our semester, we had 3 different history teachers. Mr lovell is a very knowledgeable teacher however very single minded. if you dont write exactly what he wants, its 100% wrong. If he likes you, you will do fine but if not, good luck
He talks too much during videos and is rude to students. He talks way too much on days he gives us for working on projects. Too many assignments at one time.
Great trips and is passionate about history, but is very full of himself, not very helpful, with a large workload and not a lot of help. High marks are not to be expected even from mid to high 90's students like myself.
He is passionate about his subject. However, he is SO FREAKING REPETITIVE, and would do better as a University lecturer.
Bright guy and pretty funny. He writes books and has been on tv a lot. He is really dedicated teacher. If you are into History you will really like his classes.
Personally one of my favourite teachers, He can talk for hours and I find it interesting, he knows his stuff. He's also a pretty easy marker if he knows you put effort into it and tried your best.
Just watched the tv show about the europe trip we did with Mr. Lovell. Awesome experience. Go on one of his trips.
An amazingly intelligent man. If you work hard in his class, and show a geniune interest, he'll love you. He doesn't baby slackers, and he doesnt't tolerate little snots. He's done amazing things.
He's tough and strict, but it's good like that, especially for what classes he teaches. He knows his stuff, and is pretty friendly to you - if you're a good student. Great, for the most part. :)
he's a good teacher, very tough, but he knows his stuff! he really doesnt like slackers but that's a good thing in academic courses. i feel like he prepares us. i would take a class with him again.
He's my uncle and he's probably the smartest man I know and he is tough because he want's you to go places in life.
The best teacher i have ever had by far. His lessons are interesting and he's hilarious. Even made me want to get into teaching. He is more of a lecturer but a great one at that.
Good teacher although as most people have said would be much better teaching at University as opposed to High School level. Very repetitive with stories and anecdotes.
Had a great time in Politics. All current stuff. He brought in lots of guests to the classes.
He was an ok teacher, but he had a habit of repeating himself. I remember once he showed the same movie two days in a row, and didn't even notice. Likewise, he'd repeat stories time after time.
grrr! the worst highschool teacher in all history. he'd do much better teaching at university. you can't give us the same lesson word for word 3 days in a row.
if you don't agree with him in his political views, good luck. knows his politics like the back of his hand; expects the same from his students too. better off a prof than teacher.
Good teacher, knows his stuff and doesn't get personal but is there if you need him, bit stiff but good humor. better off a professor than a high school teacher
Tough but fair. Looking back from university this is the guy that taught me the most. He had a cool sense of humour.
I dont know why Mr. Lovell has such a bad rating. I am now in college but when I look back to high school I remember him as the teacher i learned the most from.
This guy sure knows his history, but can't teach it to high school students. Better professor he would be. What kind of teacher falls asleep during a seminar?
