Ms Patton is a very good teacher but she has quite unreasonable rules. Such as “you may not drink water in class unless you use your voice in class discussions”. She can also be very sarcastic and she sometimes can be rude. However, she is really an extraordinary teacher but not a very nice person from what I’ve seen of her.
A word of warning, if you think that you can make her like you, go take her class cuz you will have the best time of your life there. Otherwise, just don't. She definitely has favourites, and she could pick on the students that she doesn't like.
If she thinks you suck, u might as well dig a hole and jump in it for the rest of the school year cuz ur going to suffer. If you catch on to her expectations and demands, ull find her funny and enjoyable.
funny but she has high standards
she is a grammar freak if you get all grammar correct instantly you get an additional fifty percent LOL i exaggerate a bit
i have her for TOK she gave me twenty for twenty on my knowledge presentation just because I asked the most "philosophical" questions LOL
My school sent my EE and WA for her to mark. She was not only unhelpful, but also incredibly patronizing. Though she has a strong grasp of grammar and syntax, she seems to look at things through a peephole. Frankly, i could tell that she read parts of my essay hastily and wrote notes that prove just how shallowly she analyzes things. She doesnt seem to mind judging works of literature as "of questionable literary quality", and yet advises students against such bold, unfounded claims.
Ms. Patton can be really intimidating. She does have mood swings, but you get a hang of how to behave appropriately. She’s lots of fun in class and she’s very entertaining. She definitely likes mature students who don’t ask silly questions, and who know what they’re doing. She’s willing to help if she’s able, so don’t be too intimidated by her. She’s actually really nice. She is SLIGHTLY biased, so stay on her good side.
At first she terrified me but now she's one of my favourite teachers. She really is one of those people you either love or hate, and it all depends on how flexible you are as a student. She is really
Ms. Patton is, frankly, one of the best teachers that I've ever had in high school. She makes information interesting. When you laugh at her jokes, you tend to remember the material better. If she has
intimidating to some people but she's actually nice most of the time. very willing to help if you want to talk to her after class. can be blunt when marking papers, but the marks themselves aren't tha
Not easy, shitton of rules, but it's interesting. Follow instructions and you'll be fine. ToK is pretty fun with her
Extremely biased, very unfair towards favorites and those she dislikes. Overall, she is quite funny, but once you get on her bad side, you're done.
Don't worry about rules! She likes a mellow, laid-back atmosphere in her class. Don't be afraid to read a newspaper while she lectures- she likes current events! First names are fine- call her Babs.
a HORRIBLE teacher. she rambles on and on in class and can never stop talking. also has favorites and makes SURE they get an A at end of term. marks unfairly, extremely biased.. funny, yes, but mean
My absolute fave, such an amazing sense of humour. I imagine she'd criticize the clarity of this rating system. xD
lots of dry humor in her class and she explains things very clearly but she's very strict
She is amazing. Her classes are always interesting (ie: you will never be bored). She's helpful if you don't ask when she is busy
Probably the most competent teacher I have right now in terms of real teaching, has excellent mastery of her craft. Is also a demigod.
Near legendary. After 2 years away from IB, all my IB friends still bring constantly bring her up and how our university English professors are incompetent compared to her.
scary because you don't know when she is in a good mood. but she's a fantastic teacher so even if a lot of students are scared of her, they still like her and respect her.
like mentioned before, either you like her or you hate her. She's very temperamental and u don't wan to get on her wrong side. She likes mature students who like to have fun (as wrong as that sounds). Just have good sense and work hard. She gets mad when students ask stupid questions only if it is so obvious he/she hasn't been listening. She kicks out students out of class - she doesn't treat you like kids.
She's the best teacher you can get for Social Studies.
lol to 9/10/08 post, if she really did teach good english...there would be no need for "conception" as in conception of fetuses, rather perception is the world. but she is a good teacher, very smart.
You either like her or hate her. If you hate her, then it's probably because you've done something wrong. Just follow her rules and you're set.
I used to be very frighten in her class for the first several classes. But now, she became on of my favourate teachers in Churchill. The most importante point is, you can really learn English in her class and English is actually one of the courses that you don't always learn stuff. Before I had her classes, I always feel that people who are good at English are mostly gifted, there is nothing much you can do to raise your mark in English. But now, she totally changed my conception. lol
I hated her at first but grew to love her. She is my favourite teacher. Very intelligent and witty in class. If you ever want to talk with her after class you can have really good discussions. She is one of the few teachers I've had at Churchill who teach and mark your work, and hand it back with constructive criticism. She is brilliant, however sometimes it feels as though she's missing something in life because of it. She is a bit OCD but sometimes it's good because it motivates students.
She is absolutely the most frightening and most intimidating teacher. At first the respect was from fear. Then it became from admiration. Very funny often too in her own twisted fun way. In this class, debating skills have gone up, you learn how to put 1hr presentations together in a few hours and how to write good essays. Most intelligent, witty, brilliant teacher I have ever had. Don't do anything stupid, and you'll probably stay out of her bad side.
This teacher literally has me frozen to my seat in terror every class, but I cant say I dont respect her. Follow her rules and try not to do anything that could potentially make you a target for the rest of your high school career, and she can actually be a really funny and interesting teacher. And to be fair, she really does have her nice side. No other teacher has had me laughing so much in class. Totally young at heart.
I thoroughly enjoyed having her as a teacher for 2 years and as my EE supervisor. She is the most entertaining teacher you will ever have if you have a decent sense of humour and aren't incredibly insecure. She is incredibly intelligent and knowledgeable and often goes off on interesting tangents while lecturing. She has a cult following on one end of the spectrum, (populated mostly by English, History and Philosophy geeks) and is hated at the other end, with very few in-betweens.
Very wise and witty. Hilarious classes, she doesn't mind if you make fun back at her as long as it's not rude. Don't be afraid to ask her questions, she's very helpful and love questions (unless she already said the answer before)
Try to stay on her good side. Our year had a system where the class who had her first block warned us how to behave when we were to have her. Very knowledgeable and witty. Very strict on rules so make sure you follow everything properly. Very approachable after class especially if you have questions about your group project. Effort counts in her class, even if she didn't specifically ask for something to be done.
SOOOO much energy! Sometimes class can be a bit dull (when she goes on her rants) and sometimes she can be very intimidating to those who are either not used to being in the spotlight or who just don't know what the hell is going on! But she's a fun, good teacher. And she prepares you well. If you ask for help, you'll get it. And if you didn't and you get flamed for it, sorry man - it's your own fault. Good class. Also gives you great ammo for debates.
She is very, very knowledgeable. I had her for my grade 11 IB English teacher and EE supervisor. She is actually really nice, once you have enough courage to ask her questions. She really knows what she is doing and what she is saying. Extremely entertaining with random ideas which somehow all connects into deep, intelligent thoughts. Great teacher. Learned a lot from her….but don’t be late for her class.
Ms. Patton is brilliant, witty and has a thorough understanding of her material. It may take you a while to realise it, but she's one of the best teachers you will ever have. Yes, she's tough, but it's (usually) not personal - she's just preparing you. She's a stickler for format, punctuality, and rules in general - the sooner you figure this out, the more successful you will be. (ie. Do not eat, breathe, or use a pencil in her class). She also really likes the word "juxtaposition." P.S. It's respect.
greatest english teacher i've had. so glad to land in her class again. :)
Nice if you are on her good side. Don't get on her bad side! Good sense of humour and is very talented in the subjects that she teaches. Ask all questions in class because she does not like people going up to her separately.
She made TOK the most interesting class in high school.
follow her instructions to the dot! literally! do not fall asleep in class. do not arrive at class late unless you like singing. otherwise, quite an entertaining teacher. uses various mediums of teaching including projector, chalkboard, video, audio. marks for group presentations are easy--just make sure you encourage discussion (if you are the presenters) and talk if you are in the audience
best english teacher i've ever had. yes, her classes can be difficult but at the end of 2 years, u'll find that all hard work in her class is worth it. glad to have her...=)
she's one of the best teachers i've had. yes. she's hard and yes her class can be difficult, but trust me, after two years in her english class, i am nothing less than happy that i've had her as my teacher. thank you for everything!!
she's smart and keen...do doubt..but she is quite mean...so mean and hurtful.and M-E-A-N. she would be an awesome teacher if she could be a bit more patients and respectful
She's a pretty hard marker but if u attend her classes n pay some attention, u can easily get a B for her speeches r quite clear. She has a GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR n is very helpful.
Quite an enigma. She is very talented and knowledgeable in a variety of subjects. Her classes are interesting and she is witty and brilliant. However, she can get mad at the slightest provocation, in which she colours her speech with adjectives like "idiot" and "moron." Everything has to be done her way or...the above mentioned scenario will likely happen. If you're on her good side, class can be an enjoyable experience. If you're on her bad side, then I wish you the best of luck.
she's awesome! really knowledgable, intellectual... consider yourself lucky to haf her as your social/history teacher!
shes possibly the neatest teacher i've encountered. everything has to be in a certain way. she can be absolutely hilarious of absolutely terrifying. try not to get on the bad side of here
A mind-blowing experience of wit, laughter and intellectual rigour. Her class is quite the challenge, but one that is worth all the pain. (Gesticulating works)
Man. This is my third consecutive year with her in IB English. Unfortunatly for me, I got on her bad side at the start of the first year. She's hard but clear
history 12 w/ her was awesome! Just follow instructn & study hard den u'll do well! very intellectual and funny... she's so knowledgable =)
hmmm...unlike some, i didnt find her THAT funny at all, more just strange. But sum of her assignment were aight, others she marked with somekinda vengeance...
i wuz 1st intimidated by her...but if u get on her good side, she's absolutely awesome!
she plays favourites.with some, she gets along fine, but with others, she's just really mean.she's funny and smart, but often intimidating and verbally abusive.
She's funny, interesting and knowledgeable..... but sometimes can be intimidatin.
i enjoy her class, it's really interesting. AND SHE'S FUNNY, which is DEFINITELY a plus!
loved her. i remember in gr 12 a couple of us use to be late on purpose so we can make a fool of ourselves. great class, great enviroment to learn in.
i had her for socials...some of the videoes make me want to fall asleep, but she's funny...she also likes to mark work...=)
Had her in gr 8 and in gr 12 for Hist, she is funny and is very knowledgeable, hard marker, don't be late, study for the tests and start early on essays
I didn't really liked Hist but I still took it cux of her. I thought she was hard in gr8, but in gr12, she's not as funny but very informative
there is noway you can out smart ms patton, she's smarter and more accurate than u r
DON'T BE LATE!! She's hard... gives alot of work.. but is funny, and knows her stuff.Overall, she isn't that bad, it's just the work, and she's hilarious =P
MY FAVORITE TEACHER IN THE WORLD! (gonna take over the universe because of her!)
awesome teacher who really challenged my english skills
very hyper and hilarious... knows her stuff, just keep in line and it'll be good
Her Halloween costumes (witch, cavewoman...) reflects her true personality.
HILARIOUS, HYPER, sharp, dont sleep in her class! pay attention, tlks ALOT
Simpli the best. Very fascinating to watch, and EXTREMELY intelligent!~
Sing, Push-ups, Sit-ups, or jumping jacks...or real real, observed real...
Very funny. So much talent wasted on teaching. Tough, but never boring
Very cool and fun teacher. Can be un little unpredictable. Creative.
Stay alert. She's smart, fast, and she talks too fast to understand. Caution!
her hyperness...eh? can be mean tho. but her logic is something.
Seems coffee high but otherwise a fun teacher although keep on her good side
