Ms. Johnston is an overall nice teacher. She knows her stuff pretty well.
She may be a good person, the science isnt in on that yet sadly, but she certainly is not a very good teacher. Her style is aggressive and demanding, she is known to be disliked by students and some faculty alike and doesnt seem to be willing to change her sour personality to make things a little happier for herself or her students. If the Ms. Johnston in the classroom is the real her, then I feel nothing but incredibly sorrow for her, she is a very angry and sad person.
Ms. Johnston is the type of teacher that makes you want to come back and visit when you're in university. She's one of the kindest souls at Brebeuf. She has a huge heart. She gives you exactly what you need to succeed. Like something Brebeuf's science teachers do, they provide avenues for success. To all the people posting negative comments, you probably expected to be spoonfed. Shocker! You have to work hard for a high mark in a science class!
its like willingly walking into a depression. No enthusiasm whatsoever.
As a former student that graduated 5 years ago, Johnston is probably one of the most passionate teachers you could ever meet. This is a trait that is lacking in many teachers past secondary school who could care less if you fail. Value this and it will be key to your success. All other semantics in school or life do not matter if you do not have the passionate drive as much as Johnston has.
She is ok but not very lenient. On her period almost every morning so she can get very sensitive. Very monotone while teaching so it was easy to fall asleep in class and it was hard to understand the subject. Her tests can get hard but as long as you know the subject they shouldn't be too hard. She marks you based on how well you do on your presentations (they weigh A LOT) so don't worry about acing the tests. Overall it wasn't too hard. Just don't slack or you will fall hard.
She knows her stuff and usually teaches it well, but her little quirks can make it difficult to learn in her class at times. Some days one thing will annoy her and she will take it out on the class for the whole period. But all in all, she prepares you for university which is what matters.
Don't listen to everyone who's whining about her. She may be a bit angry at times but it is easy to get a high 80/low 90 if you DO your work in her class. If you don't do the homework, you will do horribly in her class
She's the worst teacher I've ever had in brebeuf. She doesn't know how to teach the class. I haven't learned anything from her yet since september. No one honestly likes her. She needs to get fired because students are suffering from her and we are getting low marks because of her bad teachings.
Whenever she gives you a review sheet for test always read and know the diagrams she says, if you do you will get a good mark on her tests
She's awesome! gave me a 95 in her biology class! for people who did bad on her tests, READ HER NOTES AND THE BOOK BEFORE TEST! straight forward questions on tests! love it!
lab technician @ sci centre taught better than her. is accusatory, plays favourites, and INEFFECTIVE. no passion for job or concern for students. i despise her
Less book to carry home! Explains clearly most of the time, tests aren't hard if you read the book at least for 15 minutes before the test. Creative in a way...
Shes tough... but trust me i believe that doing all the work in her class will pay off in our futures... sorta gets us ready for university
Sometimes unclear. Friendly and kind. Just do your work, participate and study and read the stuff. Can be good teacher depending on how you are in class.
marks MUCH harder than is necessary (and takes forever to do it). knows the material. its just she doesn't teach very well...if at all. IS capable of niceness.
Was actually able to mimic a Galapagos Finch in class! Excellent!!
I GIVE HER LEVEL ONE FOR TEACHING !!!!!!!!!!
keep up the good work !!!!!!!!!
