For physics 11, he goes way too fast and doesn't take the time to really go over the basic concepts. He types his notes while teaching (unorganized). I think he is only teaching to the people who are advanced in pre-calc/calc, because there is a lot of complicated math involved in his notes as extra and in his tests. If you want to do well, you should have some basic background in math. Recommend you go to him after school. I love physics but I am not taking it because he is the only teacher.
He is very knowledgable with physics, as he was in ubc honors physics before pursuing the education path, so clearly he is very bright. Unfortunately, the bright ones aren't that great at teaching as everything just "makes sense" in their head, and this is where he lacks. He will try his best to explain, but really, physics is a subject where the concept should be formed yourself for the best understanding. Advice-don't take notes in class, just "absorb" the info and use the textbook as notes.
The legend of lord K. Got into harvard, mit and standford thanks to him. Cant complain.
Best Physics teacher of all time! He helped me so much to understand physics and the meaning of everything. Future students, a word of advice, choose Klaassen when you can
Mr. Klaasen is a good teacher. He has a good balance of control/freedom in the classroom which most teachers lack. I would recommend Mr. Klaasen because you can do well in his class if you study unlike some teachers in the science wing *cough* Ho *cough*
Great teacher class is filled up, no slacking. His class is fun, he is a very easy going person. He tries to explain everything in a common way or brings it down to a understandable level. His quizzes and tests are a lot and hard but it also depends on this subject and students.
I'm guessing that Mr. Klaassen is very knowledgeable about physics but he cannot teach at all. He makes "notes" as we go through the class and even then they are at a less than rudimentary level. If you have problems he will try to help you to the best of his abilities; however, these abilities are lacking. Unfortunately, to my knowledge, he is the only IB Physics teacher and you're going to have to deal with him. Make sure to read the textbook. It honestly helped me more than Klaassen.
Although the course is difficult, Mr. Klaassen does his best to teach at an understandable level. He is very clear and makes it easy to comprehend the concepts. I would def recommend him!
ahhhhh Mr Klaassen. This guy is a straight up OG. At first I wanted to drop out of his class but now that I've been in his class for a while I've gained an appreciation for his teaching. His classes are actually quite interesting and fun. Although the material will be tough just remember to read the textbook and maybe review on khan academy or something. His tests can be demoralizing so remember to study the textbook for weird questions that may pop up. HAPPY HAPPY, GOOD GOOD.
It's hard to get the hang of what he's saying at first, but if you bombard him with questions~ he is very patient with you. Whatever you do, future students, don hesitate to ask him questions or else you'll be murdered on the test. The concepts need to be crystal clear for you to achieve a good mark.
Much like Nakamoto, Klaassen adopts a more "detached" teaching style that students may dislike but that serves as good preparation for university. Physics is more than just plugging in formulas (which he provides on all tests anyway). If you're having a hard time in his class, don't blame Klaassen. Adapt your studying strategies, or drop the class.
i hav a test on forces, no idea what its gunna be like. im in grade 11. he hasnt taught anything
I had him for Science in grade 8 and dropped out of his physics course cuz I didnt want to take it. I only had him one year and I never found out what I got on that Powerpoint presentation!!!
he's nice but his class totally sucks...to be honest, you wont learn anything from him....and his physics tests are super hard...if you get him, transfer out!!!
Mr Klaassen is a great and a fair teacher. I had him for physics for two years, great memory.
Tests are hard. Not very clear on explainging things. Puts things on test we never got noted on. Needs to improve on his writing
What kind of a teacher makes the top 100 on warcraft!????
While he does put effort into teaching, his lessons are not always clear. Then again, that's what self-studying is for. His quizzes are fairly easy but his tests do contain IB questions. Although he does not check homework, it is still best to do the homework anyway as practice for difficult tests.
tests are quite hard: he puts questions from IB papers on regular tests!! i had a hard time understanding his lessons. and he really needs to work on his handwriting! but overall he is got a nice personality
this guy has just made me wasting my time in the whole G.11. He never teachs me things. For now, when i enter Physic12. I am lost and confused in the first charter already. If anyone of u have physic class with him, leave immedicatly. It is even better to take in summer school
horrible spelling, not very helpful when students ask him questions .... starts ranting and students get more confused ... tests are quite hard ...
It's a fun class, though he does seem to have a bit of a spelling disability, and he can't explain half the stuff we ask. And on the last test, the highest mark was 59%...I dislike his diagrams on the tests too, they're unclear.
great guy, loves science like me-but abominally messy printing!
Klaassen can't write, can't talk, and can't spell. Why is he teaching? I was excited about physics at the beginning of the year only to find myself turned off after the first few weeks.
he's an okay teacher, needs to improve in the helping department. most importantly HE NEEDS TO LEARN HOW TO SPELLLLL!!!! I COULDN'T BELIEVE HE SPELT WORDS LIKE BALLOON WRONG!!! I LIKE FRIGIN LEARNED TO SPELL BALLOON IN GR2!!!!!
you may not agree, but everytime i asked him to explain something, he did very patiently.
he gives ery sketchy notes..and on his tests...there are questions from ib physics...well maybe i took regular physics for a reason?? also, there would be things on the test that hes never taught b4..and wehn someone points out to him that we havent learned it...he'll say.."nows a good time to learn". No really....thats the most pathetic response ive ever gotten...if i knew the stuff...i wouldnt even be in his silly class...and now we have a student who is sooo boring....puts me to sleep everytime sigh...
omg....ok..he's nice and all, but he can't explain anything..and then he keeps saying "everybody happy?" and no one knows what he's talking about but he keeps going on..and he gives IB 12 questions on regular physics tests...
he's awesome! super nice and funny... his class is super entertaining cuz i get to make jokes about him and his horrible writing and he laughs with me too!
He's an awesome teacher, very helpful and funny. He's intelligent and is the best science teacher i have had!!! My older brother knows his sister.
After taking phys 100, I realized klaassen's NOT a bad teacher at all!!
cool teacher, plays trombone with me in stage band!! =D
easy, but he can't teach at all. seems like he doesn't know what he's doing.
he's a helluva guy. super nice during parent-teacher interview..swell guy..
nice nice nice teacher..haha...love you mr. klaassen..^O^
Pretty good teacher, not too much notes. Plays Wc3 bla bla bla
this guy is cool. he went to highskewl in churchill, and now teaches at churchil
Funny person and a cool teacher. But needs to improve his teaching method.
now that i tink bout all the bad science teachers...he's not so bad...
nice teacher. Gives me A even tho i got 50 percent on quiz
super nice, not too bright sometimes, easy tests, blabs
He's way cool, but get yourself a good tutor if you have him.
