What a fantastic teacher, a great friend, and an amazing human being. Has it been 20 years already?! He has much to teach if you're willing to learn. Fair, tough, ultimately he'll bend over backwards to help you out.
I will never forget Mr. Schock ...my grade 9 English teacher in 1982......He did not say a word..just stared at us...turned around and wrote on the chalkboard "I am here to teach ...NOT to make friends" I will never forget. I tell my kid's that story when they ask me how school was "back in my day" Mr. Schock was a FABULOUS TEACHER. His trademark.....flipping his tie over his shoulder when he walked through the school hall's.
A fantastic human being -even 20 years later!
One of my first *good* teachers. He was respectful toward his students, but also had control of the class. He was very knowledgeable about all of the texts we used. His impromptu lesson on grammar and spelling, one day, after realizing that very few people in the class knew how to spell properly, was something I have always remembered. His stories were great too. Very interesting and fun teaching style, most of the time, but knew when to be serious also. Good balance.
I stepped into Mr. Schock's Grade 9 English class back in September 1982. I had a hard time "getting" him initially, but soon after giving and earning the respect, I realized that he was an excellent teacher; One of the best really. I look back now 30 years later and still find myself thanking him for my continued amazement and respect for the English language and the world of literature. I'm sure the vast majority of your students would agree with me! Thank you, Mr. Schock.
This guy is one of the best teachers I've ever had. Granted I've only had him for a substitute but nonetheless he is great !
the first time i met him i was so scared. he was convinced he was able to see into the future and i was like wow he's weird. but whenever i see him in the hallway i am sure to an interesting talk!
I remember being scared out of my mind that first day, but then you find out that this man really cares for his students! When you still remember a teacher and how they touched your life 20 years later ... that is a good teacher!! Thank you Mr.Schock!!
