She judges student based on their personality, not their grades. Her tests consist of questions that we have not learned that unit, but rather questions that will be on the next unit. This causes students to not know what unit to study. Her courses are just very confusing in general.
Really mean teacher, she doesn't like it when her students are successful.
the year was 1998 (or 1999)...i took gr11 math with her and got a 97. i remember the course being easy, and it was a small class. smoothest course ever. she must've explained things well and ran the class/course well or else the course wouldn't have been so easy? i did well in gr12 math too so it's not like she didn't teach the curriculum. this post sounds like a rebuttal cuz i see so many low ratings for her.
Personally, I don't think she is bad. She is judgemental - yes, but she still explains pretty well and if you try you should do pretty well. I bet the people she 'picks on' started talking a lot in class, coming late, missing classes. She just wants respect and when she gets it she is nice to you in return. P.S. And no I was not one of her favorites.
The only reason the people who has liked her said she was good because you were her favourite. Don't tell people to shut up and mature, or grow up and get over it- because thats not the reason people complain. People complain because the fact is, she can't teach. She doesn't know how to approach certain things. You can be good at math, but it's one thing to be able to teach it.
she always picks on me...... randomly she is super nice to me and after 1 second she randomly starts spazzing!!!!! on top of the fact that she cant teahc -_- i cant believe she teaches a macs class
has a few favourites in the class, if you're not one of them, too bad for you.
She is not that bad.. maybe not the best but not the worst either.. And she did not hate russians.. I know ppl that she loved.. and they were russians. She is just russian and has high priorities like al of them do... and she is not too bad at explaining.. ppl should stop evaluating based on the mark they get and start doing better job at evaluating professional qualities..
All she does is give a couple of examples from the textbook, and then assign 2 pages to do for the rest of the looooong and boooooring hour of class that is left. She plays favorites, very true, and she's extreamly mean. The only reason I got a good grade was because I've already studied the material. IF YOU GET HER, QUICKLY!! SWITCH YOUR COURSES!!
had her for gr11 math in spring 1999..a class of 12..no one got under 80..material was easy and at least half the class must've gotten over 90..i got a 97...can't say a bad thing about her.
i personally think that ms. talas' accent is an obstcale to overcome. many times in math i had to read the textbook over and over and teach myself the math because she couldn't explain it well. and yes, i do think she plays favourites. one time, she took 5 marks off my test and just 2 marks on my friend's test, and we both made the same mistake. for anyone who has her, it is a VERY GOOD idea to study and learn concepts before the semester. she favours people who are smart and she'll be an easier marker.
no doubt that she has favorites - and she does NOT mark fair... she takes less marks off for those whom she favors for the same mistake; she may be a good person, but the best thing she can do to teacher is to copy everything from the textbook
true, she does have favourites.. but i was one of them, so it was awesome :D but shes a fair marker, and her lessons are very clear and easy to understand. and true, she does discourage people tho..
She's the reason I gave up on math and went into social science instead... So I guess I should thank her. :P But seriously, horrible. Not helpful at all, she'll basically tell you to go study more and/or hire a tutor.
She will tell you that you will fail calculus. According to her everybody fails it - obviously cause she was their teacher before.
She is a good teacher yet she needs to teach in a better fashion.
Personally, I like her, but as a teacher, she's horrible. She IS nice, but if you need some extra help in math, instead of helping you, she'll discourage you.
she's really mean from time to time and doesn't let ppl talk, but other than that she can teach...sorta...
Talas can seem mean but she's the GREATEST, she's there 4 her students. Just get to know her and you'll find out how nice she really is.
Ugh. The reason I didn't continue with math in grade 12.
A good teacher for junior math courses. Her tests could be harder to prepare you for senior level math courses. I'd have her as a teacher any day.
come on guys, she's not that bad... has her favorites, but over all shes ok
She called us the worst class she had in her 30 yrs of teaching, and that was 30 secs into the class on our 2nd day, n 3 people were discussing math quietly.
She can't speak english - She picks obvious favorites - she picks on people - she complains if you do better/ go faster than she wanted you to - she regurgitates what's in the book, but doesn't tell you that it's in the book - you would learn just as well
The textbook is your best teaching aid in this class. If you aknoledge that you'll get an amazing mark, otherwise: U FAIL: I LAAFF ON EXAM!
Not a very nice teacher. What did she say? I don't know and you won't either. You might have a hard time understanding what she says.
