i switched out of her class within a week but thank god because she was boring and fails half her students
"She's bad because she failed me."
Stop with that mentality. If you take the time and effort to keep up with her classes, you'll come out with soaring marks. Unfortunately, many seem to think that they should be allowed to pass school with minimal effort. That being said, Mrs. Fortney is partially at fault in this matter as well. She does not get to know her students well enough to cater her teaching to their character.
Definitely not as horrible as kids would gossip about. I would not recommend her as I didn't find her very useful when I went in for extra help. It seems like she marks you way to hard for grade 9 math. Though I highly appreciate the extra help. Personally, I find her very intimating and looks to find the flaws in you and doesn't accept your successes. Overall, I think she needs to cool down then she might actually be a good teacher.
One time during a test I dropped my calculator and it broke I walked up to Mrs Fortney and asked her if I could borrow one she looked at me and said "I never lend calculators" and told me to sit down I went back to my desk in tears as I only finished one question on the entire unit test and then this other teacher walked in and asked if she could borrow a calculator "yes of course" Mrs Fortney replied and then looked at me and smiled a little. I think that pretty much sums up Mrs Fortney
Awful. For some reason she flourishes off the misfortune of her students, she would prefer to see them fail than succeed. Extremely condescending.
Smokes all the time, packs chaws, No fun and every time you ask her a question about math she just tells you to look at your note.. Very helpful right? Especially when half the time you can't keep up to her notes!!!!
Mean, doesn't like hockey, no flow, not a trophy wife, i don't like her, not my kind of sauce if you know what I'm saying EH bud ;)
Miss Fortney know what she is talking about but she has no idea how to teach. she is extremely strict. If you ask for help she just says to look in your textbook even if you already have. She is the w
She knows what she is teaching but seems to enjoy the failure of her students more than their success and is very rude to them. She is not helpful at all and is very intimidating.
strict - yes, but her expectations were clear
Ms Fortney is a super strict teacher who enjoys the math misfortunes of her students. She knows her math (I had her for summer school), but is very PICKY AND CRUEL about it. Just stay away.
The worst teacher I've had without a doubt. Classes mostly consist of reading the textbook even when u don't understand something; will not teach(answers ? with ?). Also dislikes many students openly.
Horrid teaching skills. If you asked for help, she'd tell you to look it up in the text book. Teachers are there to help you learn. She might as well just leave the class-I could teach myself.
Not happy with her teaching methods, when my son asked for help, he didnt get it, so he was left behind like many other students in her class. Mrs. Fortney needs to slow down and help other students.
Fortney is a great teacher, shes so easy going and helpfull. and theres always lots of laughing going on in the class. and she takes her time to help you when ever your stuck. :)
Tough teacher, but i never found her mean/worst teacher ever like other ppl are saying here. At the end of the semester she turned out nice. I woulndt mind having her teach me math again. :]
who cares i kno shes alot better than a ton of teachers ive ever had and i actually learnd math from her
her teaching was poor. a have her again and i got to say i dont like it one bit.
If you do your homework regularly you won't have a problem. She doesn't give you answers, but she'll help you find them. Lunch time help worked for me.
Her lessons aren't very clear, which makes it difficult to succeed
she is a good teacher, i dont know what other people are talking about
her teaching methods are horrible, like others said, shes not a good teacher. why is she still there??? i went to summer school after failing her class and trippled my mark.
Had her for summer school, really thought that the key to passing her class was to answer all of her quest. but, guess not, now i have to do math for a 3rd time.
Constructive criticism:Your teaching method of asking so many questions makes it more difficult. Sometimes, a simple answer helps us more than exploring issues.
