You need extensive self-adjustment to get used to Ms. Wall's teaching style, a ruthless and rigorous training in all areas of biology that is way beyond IB higher level. As long as you show your respect and awe towards nature and your intellectual curiosity, you will find yourself ready for any challenges ahead in the future. Ashbury's rank as the 7th best-performing school in the 2017 National Biology Contest is the best evidence for that.
Excessive and useless workload (including having to write a review about a movie). Condescending, especially to the male minority of the class. Would give us horrible grades and tell us to not worry about it. She does show favouritism so if you are on her good side then good for you, wasn't the case for me. Currently in med school and I still recall her as one of the worse teachers I've ever had.
Ms. Wall is extremely qualified and caring. If you treat her with respect and do your homework/actually care about biology, you will have a great time!
What an amazing woman. Funny, knowledgable but sometimes a bit unclear on certain things. But hey, it is Biology. My advice is to just keep up to date with work and readings, don't let yourself fall behind because you WILL not understand the next lesson.
I had Ms. Wall in grade 9 and now I am Grade 11and I have her again. I still love her as much now as I did back then. She is extremely knowledgeable (there is literally not a single question you can ask her that she doesn't know the answer to), very helpful, and she genuinely cares about how you do in her class. I spent almost every day with her in extra help at lunch in grade 9 but it was totally worth it because she helped me SO much and my marks went up like 20% from the beginning of the year
You either like her or hate her, and she either likes you or hates you. She tends to like girls more, but overall she just likes people who are well organized. Ironically, her classes were unorganized, making it hard to follow. Her marking was inconsistent, but not too harsh. Also, she can be pretty scary when she yells at you cause you're not sure if she's mad or if she's making a joke. Finally, she's pretty damn weird. You'll see what I mean.
This woman is the reason I dropped sciences in my last year, yet is also the reason I graduated with such an honourable standing from Ashbury. She's crazy, and undeniably knows biology better than I know the English alphabet. Spending only ninth grade with her, coming from a public school ... while a few other teachers gave me a shovel and told me to dig and slowly descend.... she held that shovel over me through a figurative death threat. Forever grateful.
very knowledgeable. love her to bits. gives tons of homework, but it makes exam prep that much easier. bioninja though <3
Me gusta mucho Senora Wall. Ella es MUY BUENA. La clase de ciencias es mi clase favorito con Miss Wall. Ella es tambien el amore de mi vida.
Ms. Wall undeniably knows a lot about biology. Despite that she is very good at teaching the material from class, I find myself often lost with her tests donning certain IB curriculum material which often we NEVER cover in class. She is a nice lady but definitely shows favouritism, and if you're not a favourite you won't necessarily get great marks. If you don't go to extra help (which I don't- avoid my example) you will definitely not be a favourite. Her workload is also ridiculous.
science program at ashbury is dreadful, as is ms. wall.
if she would clean up her classroom, maybe it gets clearer what she means. Then, she would find our tests faster and I would not have to write it twice!
this teacher makes no sense sometimes, always look at the board. she will not tell you what the homework is sometimes, so always check
Do well on tests and she won't really care about homework. Very fun person and together with the IB study guide, makes the course/exam easy.
Ms. Wall is an AMAZING teacher and the best bio teacher I have ever had.
extremelyyyy sketchy springrolls are apparently more important than her students looking like hobos.
i'd prefer be taught by Bill Nye the Science Guy. he probably knows the IB curric better than she does. very frustrating in class. Male-Hater. huntsman was fun, but rapidly went downhill; common trend
Found her very good. Though students complain about organization, I think most simply aren't organized themselves. Excellent IB prep. However, don't fall back. Finally, loved her distance from curric.
she's a brilliant teacher, but her methods are a little... strange. tends to focus on her favourite topics too much and then doesnt leave time for review
She went from being nice, to strange, and then to downright psychotic...a complete bat. Altho some of her exercises can be helpful, its like being in kindergarten all over again
There are no word to express my frustration with her teaching methods. A chimp would be more helpful. Begins excersices and never finishes them, then puts them on finals.
She's a nice person, but she is an incredibly ineffective teacher. I do not need to know how to build a snow fort, I do need to know the IB curriculum.
Used to think she was good, but then things went downhill. I'd like to say that my class took action against her inability to organize herself, her busywork, her time-wasting activities and her unequal placement of homework. I hope she'll be gone soon.
at the beginning of the year last year, i thought she was pretty good. quickly proven wrong. all the other teachers think she's a bad teacher too.
she is a very good teacher...lots of fun and i learnt a lot
She tries really hard and is really enthusiastic, but her happy little activites take away from any serious learning. Lessons are confusing and hwk is busywork.
