Really helped me out throughout the year, made me take interest in the course and explains topics clearly. He never raises his voice, but you can tell if he's ticked off. My grades really improved from the beginning to the end of the year, he is what I would look for in a teacher. Just pray you don't get him in grade 12 tho cuz it seems like his knowledge never peaks and legend has it, he has never given higher than 85% on essays. If you're around a 80% consider yourself relatively a genius XD

Theres a reason why he teaches IB english kids... Cuz he's so good at it! At first I didnt like the class but then I began to appreciate his teaching. The way he analyzes and pulls deeper meaning out of books is amazing. Super helpful with essays & doubts you may have! Also has a subtle sense of humour, but is really funny & nice. However if you are weaker in English I wouldn't suggest him but my writing did improve with him.

Let me just say, as an individual that struggles with ELA
Mr. Parr really outlines the fundamentals, as well as the methods that will bring your papers excellent grades. He is very knowledgeable in English and although his class can be challenging. It really helps you develop an understanding on the level where you need to perform.

Mr Parr was probably my favorite teacher this year. He is an English genius, watching him analyze and pull meanijga out of those poems and short stories was amazing, and not only is he super good at it, but he teaches you to be too. I enjoyed his class tons, we did a lot of fun projects and he definitely prepared us for finals. He's a hard but fair marker and it makes you feel that much better to receive a good grade in his class, I hope I have him again next year

Extremely well informed on all the material that is covered and makes generally insightful comments on the material. I found this to be particularly true on any Shakespeare and the American Lit pieces.

Mr. Parr is pretty nice and a pretty good IB teacher. He does mark hard, but that makes you work even harder! His assignments are 'out of the box' and make you actually think hard.

Quite a hard marker, but of course it's in preparation for the diploma, as he marks most of them. His instructs and explains in a very simple manner, but does not explain/ teach enough to help you on things such as multiple choice tests, as what he talks about in class is shallow compared to them. He's a very flexible and encouraging guy, and willing to help if you ask.

Parr knows his stuff really well and his instructions are short but clear. The bad thing is he doesn't teach a lot

He;s actually a very helpful teacher if you ask him for help. Most people do not understand his subtle sense of humour. His marking may be harsh, but it only reflects the truth.

I can't say he's a bad teacher but he has too much going against him to say he's any better than poor. For example, he tends to single out people who he dislikes and he has often insulted people out of necessity, it seems, to insult them. Me and my friend had that misfortune occur to us and in the last two weeks of my friend's grade 12 year, Parr refused to let him into class, and so he was suspended for not attending.

Alright. So he's not exactly the greatest at explaining English. But if you get to know him after three years of being in his class, he does have a funny side. It's that sarcastic House like funny. I think all he is trying to do is to slowly make you as an individual to grow, to see that meaning behind the story that's right infront of you. So I guess at least I learned a bit. After three years of course it had to happen sooner or later!

Didn't learn anything from him all year. Other than how to bluff well. I'm sure at some point we was a good teacher but just didn't work for me. He was not good at explanations and was quite repetitive. We could walk in to his class on Monday and tell you exactly what we were going to do everyday that week. He didn't make things interesting and expected us to know things that were beyond our level. I did more research for his class than I have for two years combined in social.

I found that he offers a lot to reason. If you understand his logic, it will seem that he gives you many ledges that you can hang on to and advance in his class. Of course, most of us arent that capable, and he does feel frustrated over those who really don't want to be in his class!
