His States of Nature class was amazing and I learned a lot from it. He's always very approachable, a fair marker, remembers students by their first names and engages in meaningful discussions with the group. He's also very passionate about the subject, which doesn't make humanities boring (as it usually can be). Always show up to class and do your reading/homework/assignments and follow the instructions, I guarantee you'll pass with a great mark. Recommend him 100%!

he's a good teacher and is able to engage the class really well, mostly everyone gets into the discussion and it was a fun class overall. he could be unclear at times but it's just because he's passionate about what he's talking about so he gets in his own head and just spews stuff out. but he goes over topics several times and if you regurgitate whatever he says in class in assignments, the final essay and exams than there's no reason not to do well. I never read any of the books and did amazing

Everything you'd want in a humanities teacher. Beyond passionate and knowledgable about what he teaches and he's really engaging too. Very fair and diplomatic grader, if you do the readings and take notes you will be more than fine. *He took attendance every class.

Sean Elliott is quite a character, but in the very best way. His classes are energetic and dynamic; his eccentric sense of humour will be the thing you remember in twenty years from now. His exams are fair, verging on easy. By applying acquired terms*** in responses, you can get a decent grade. By reaching further, something that is not required but greatly appreciated, an above ninety grade can be expected.

A very passionate, if not a tad bit eccentric, teacher who is very entertaining to learn from! He gets very excited when students pick up on the fundamental ideas behind the topics being discussed. A critical marker he looks for the best of the best, but fair if you write something that shows your effort and attempt to understand. Would take another class from him (I took States of Nature), and would definitely recommend!

Awesome teacher! Take his States of Nature class if you can. A very interesting teacher who makes the material fun to learn. Would definitely take his class again if he offered other courses, and there is barely any homework for his class except for some readings and the final essay. He makes notes for the readings and makes them very clear, so no need to worry about not understanding them. Easy marker too :)

Very interesting class though they can be quite long and boring at times, but he is a very good teacher. He writes everything down on the board and explains the material pretty well. There is a lot of in-class and group work, but you’re allowed to use your notes for them. The only homework you’ll ever have is reading (though the reading is quite hard to understand and you need to understand the material to be able to write your final essay). His tests are very easy and he is a fair grader.

Great teacher, very funny and philosophical. Exams are pretty easy if you take the time to prepare and pay attention in class. He doesn't mark tests on whether you got the correct answer or not, he'll give you full points if you back up your point, even if it is completely inaccurate! Would absolutely take him again, and definitely recommend him!

Alright guys, let's settle this. I had Prof. Elliott for States of Nature. I had no idea what that meant walking into his class. He was passionate, he pushed his students to think critically and was encouraging. He would get so happy and excited when one of hist students get the right answer to an in-class question. I'm in law school now, writing an final at this very moment, and I needed to recognize this professor and his genuine interest in his students' intellectual growth.
