My daughter became a lot more cultured and literate after embarking in Rachel Taylor's class.
I have to say that Ms. Taylor is by far the best English teacher I've ever had. It's not that hard to be a nice person, and if you're nice and respectful to her, if you pay attention and participate, your marks will benefit! She can be scary but only to the disrespectful students which makes sense. She is so knowledgable and classy. I witnessed someone disrespect her and she handled it so professionally, I still don't know how she composed herself like that. So,be nice, do your HW & participate!
Ms. Taylor is a very difficult teacher, however she does teach some useful things. I found that I used all of the information we learned in the Shakespeare unit in my grade 11 english class I took in summer school. She gets a bad rep. A lot of people hate her, and I can see why. She is a tough marker, and can overreact sometimes. However, as far as a teacher goes, she is pretty great at providing all the resources you need to succeed, and answers any questions you may have.
Condescending, generally uncaring and a hard marker. I liked her a lot regardless, I'd never had such a teacher before in my life and thought I actually got better at writing. Looking back on my Gr. 10 essays I understand why I ended with an 70, but she marked more like a university prof. Hard work won't necessarily save you though, which is tough -- it's more about being well-read beforehand and being interested in literature. She gives choices, but we did Animal Farm, Romeo & Juliet + poetry
She's a terrible teacher and her laugh is terrifying. if you have her switch out asap. A hard marker and will give you a bad mark on everything if she doesn't like you. Picks favourites and treats them with more respect than other students. She should not be a teacher.
Her class is REALLY hard, but if you try you will learn so much. From Shakespeare to spelling she will cover everything, but make she you are always taking notes because she loves tests and quizzes. She marks really hard and is super picky, but make sure to talk to her at lunch whenever you need it because she'll really help you and loves students that take the time. Also participate in her class or else she will call on you when you least expect it.
You can tell she is deeply insecure. She know a lot about english but fails to teach it. She always tries to justify herself "You see I'm holding a Danier bag symbolizing that I am chique." She literally said this and she picks on students even when they try their best. She tends to be sarcastic, too strong opinionated and closed-minded. All I learned from her class was that there's good books...somewhere. She also focused on things that aren't in the test and has favourites. Leave her class now
Miss taylor is an educated women with great appreciation for the english language. If she asks you to work hard, you will find it rewarding in the end.
If you get this teacher switch out. Her laugh haunts like a ghost.(Simile, hahhahahhahahahahhahaha.) She also picks on people who aren't particularly good at english. For a month now, she has been talking about similes and irony. Wow how enlightening old witch.(She reminds me of my french step grandma. Old hag) Also she thinks shes hella funny when she says that only she can call herself a b;tch and then laughs at her own jokes. Again her laugh is annoying as hell and has given me nightmares.=)
Literally the most condescending person I've ever met. You may as well be taking an applied English class with the amount of things she actually teaches. She spent at least half of the semester talking to us about proper grammar and then never gave us a grade on it/mentioned it again. 100% convinced she's right all the time about everything.
If you have her switch out. I don't care what other course you end up having to take but switch out. She once told me that romeo and Juliet was all about Shakespeares imaginary friends. OK.
I love her! I learned so much in her class and I enjoyed being in her class alot! :)) She only likes you if you pay attention in class, respect her, work hard and hands in things on time.
In the first few days she seems like a nice lady although through time it became clear to her and the students that she was not who she thinks she is. She constantly yelled at students for reasons unknown and could never communicate what she expected in the work. Her jokes were eerie and silenced the class numerous time. Did not enjoy the semester at all.
she yelled at me for whispering on a project in the halls COOL MISS........
She tries to be all nice and "in the now" but she really isn't. She expects a lot out of us, talking really fast and quietly about completely new concepts and expects us to be able to scribble eveything down... in grade 10... she does get marks out of nowhere though... usually for the better though.
she was a nice in the halls, always made a point to say hi or smile or wave. She seems so nice in the class at first but throughout the semester that changes a lot. very harsh marker, suppperr unclear about what she wants and expects from you. didn't learn very much from her at all. she sets due dates and dead dates but gets extremely angry if you don't hand things in by the due date.. why set a dead date then?!
She's friendly but always tries to solve problems with an airy laugh.
She was an excellent teacher. I liked business because of her, and she was very nice, though a bit too impersonal. I learned alot, and got a good mark because of it!
Hard core. Very detailed about EVERYTHING. She gives a lot of assignments too. Learned alot, but more than I wanted too.
horrible teacher. She doesn't understand anything better than her students. She's either a really hard or really easy marker. bad english teacher.
Um..a little weird. Very nice and somewhat appoarchable. I like her, when she's in a GOOD mood..(YOU know what I'm talking about)
I think she's pretty nice, if you behave. She knows what she's doing, anyway.
i think people need to give her a chance, good teacher
