hard marker. boring.
This teacher is one of my favorite. At the beginning, lectures are very boring and he might come out as uninterested of his students. But, you just have to avoid taking your phone out and try to concentrate on what he is saying. This guy is savage but very caring and helpful. (Weekly quiz, 3 exams, labs) Advice - Pay attention to the small explanation he gives, which is usually not on slides.
He is a good teacher. He's way of teaching isn't the best.. Boring lectures but he gets the job done. Exams are okay if you studied well.
One of the best chemistry teachers. He's always available to help and will make sure you understand everything perfectly .be ready for weekly quizzes though even though they are a huge help for the tests and finals (u don't have to study as much). If u can, definitely take him!!!!
Great teacher. Great personality. Knows chemistry. Even if I am not a huge fan of chemistry, I got a very very good grade. Take him. And ... still do your homework.
eh hes a great teacher eh would take him again eh
I could not understand half the things he was saying, strong accent. Tests are confusing and not straight forward
He is a hard marquer but he is the best teacher in the world. He always answer questions and as long as you demand politely he will accommodate if you have any personal issues and can't do a test. Always at his office, and sometimes he will stay will you after his office hours just to help. He wants the best for his students and at the ends if you do your subjected problems ans ask questions you will do well !
He has favouritism
He is a funny guy but you dont need that in a teacher. you need a teacher that teaches well, which sometimes he doesnt.
Has mistakes in the PP notes, often not available at his office because of all the people waiting in line to see him.
If the course was clearer, he wouldn't be getting all those questions outside of class.
I never understood him when he was talking because it tends to be really boring and monotone
Very qualified, very flexible office hours, puts a lot of effort into explaining this you don't understand (as long as you seek him out). Would highly recommend for General, Solutions, and Organic. Exams are very straightforward. You will never need to buy any textbook with him.
His notes are very clear! His tests and quizzes are composed of the suggested problems, so if you study them, you'll do well. He is always available to help because he actually cares about his students. He's a very nice man, very fair and very knowledgable. I recommend taking him any chance you get! He made me enjoy chemistry.
If you are willing to work hard for marks then do take him. To pass his class, you must ask questions, do the suggested problems and listen. He is really nice but the workload is a lot, even tho there is no homework... The extra problems are very time consuming but worth it for his class. One thing that I do wish I could change is how he talks while we take notes. I could never catch on in class. Also take him if you are patient cause its a class lecture every class, keeps you till the end.
Very down-to-earth person. Do ask him questions whenever you don't understand something, he'll love to answer them. Exams are alright. Quizzes are easy. Fair marker. Prepare yourself for huge amount of papers to print, 'cause this guy ain't kidding about them power points.
The worst teacher in vanier. Avoid him if u can
I took this teacher for 3 different chemistry courses cause he is THAT good. I'm in third year pharmacy school and this teacher has made me LOVE chemistry. If you want to work hard and learn the most out of chemistry, he is the teacher to take! He is ALWAYS in his office for extra help, his notes are SUPER clear, and his tests are decent if you've studied the material. If you are not motivated then please don't take him, you will regret it and give him bad ratings for no reason!
Has his favourites so expect a rude attitude. Also expect to fall asleep in class as... it's an hour and a half of powerpoints. If you can teach yourself the subject, be my guest, if not, take any other teacher .
Horrible teacher! DO NOT TAKE HIM! He is so rude and insults any student that doesn't automatically understand the material! You could barely understand what he says with his quebecois accent. His notes are on powerpoint but he expects you to print them all out and fill in the blanks. The notes are not very elaborate though. Avoid this teacher at all costs.
He is an overall good teacher. I must admit you have to work hard to get good grades but his quizzes and tests are quite reasonable. I have him for organic chemistry and honestly the course is hard but his powerpoints are quite amazing and helpful. He has plenty of office hours and he explains the material quite well. You cannot expect to pass without working at all. You just do all the worksheets and assigned textbook questions and you should do pretty well in the course. Fair marker too!!!!
worst teacher ever, worst class notes, difficult tests, insults his students, puts you down.. avoid at all cost!!!
If you have a problem with accents that quebecers have when speaking english, don't take him. If you want a course where you pass without working outside of class, get out of science. HOWEVER, if you are interested in chemistry, TAKE him. He is an organic chemist (phd i believe) and his knowledge of chemistry is vast. He get's sidetracked sometimes by questions, but explains very clearly and class time is never lost.
AN AMAZING CHEMISTRY TEACHER! had him for general chemistry and enjoyed every moment. Very energetic, knowledgeable and willing to help! He gives prontes notes for every class so all you have to do is listen. Exams are VERY FAIR: the questions are usually similar to the ones in the suggested problems...Yet you DO need to work on your chemistry and will certainly not pass the course by just attending the class. Whish i couldve taken him for chem of solutions! 5 stars! RECOMMENDED!
Really did not enjoy his class. Be ready for an hour and a half of him reading power points (and filling in the blanks). Extremely boring and extremely difficult to stay awake in class.
Philippe Brunet is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He is an amazing teacher and he explains very well. If you don't understand in class, go home and read the notes and you will understand. The notes are very very clear and complete. Brunet is a hard and strict teacher bc he wants you to undestand but you'll do amazing if you work hard and do all the problems he gives and if you ask him questions during his office hours if you don't understand something. I would take him again no doubt!
I took him for Chem of Solutions, and he was an okay teacher. Very good notes, although could be hard to understand at times due to poor grammar. His tests are pretty hard and GIVES TONS OF SUGGESTED PROBLEMS that are also pretty hard.. & CANT EXPLAIN FOR HIS LIFE.
He is very strict and scary! But he knows his stuff very well, and he is very very very hard-working. I did learn a lot from him. BUT HE IS SO SCARY!, and his tests are not easy, SO HARD!
I love this teacher way too much. Take him if u want to get the max out of chemistry. If u work hard, there is no reason for you to do bad. He knows his stuff, and LOVES to help his students!
Amazing teacher! If you listen, do ALL the suggested problems and study, you will do fine. He often puts some of the suggested problems in his tests... He has the most office hours I have ever seen in
This teacher is simply the best! I don't think I could have ever asked for a better chem teacher. He knows his stuff big time and he is extremely helpful! Take him if you want to work and learn loads,
Very boring class and hardest class ever .If your a student with ordinary marks, this class will be impossible to pass. I know myself from experience. One of the worst teachers ever! WARNING
Best chem teacher ever, a little hard but only cause he wants you to actually learn something and not just pass through without doing anything.
He is a good teacher ! He helps you when you need it but you have to actually go see him. Some questions in the tests might be tricky but its not that bad. If you work hard, u should pass.
With this teacher you will be given all the material to facilitate the rest of your chemistry life. If you do the work assigned and finish them appropriately, you will do very well (90 ).
He's a good teacher if you are willing to learn. You have to do all the homeworks and study hard because his exams are not easy but there are not impossible ! Also, he's always there to help if u nee
He's a good teacher but the course is a hard one therefore be prepared to have lots of work to do outside of class and listen carefully in class. Very hard marker though...
you're either going to hate him or you're going to LOVE him. It all depends on what kind of a person you are.
BEST TEACHER take him! gives u the grade you really deserve, wether its 100 or 10. Hard tests but do all the hmw and ur fine. Great notes, really organized, always there to help, taking him again
AMAZING teacher! You will actually learn a great deal from him, as long as you study and do the suggested problems. For once, you actually understand the labs.
If you want to get your money's worth, this is the teacher you'll need. He goes above and beyond to help you out and makes sure that you understand as long as you put in the effort. One of the best!!!
fr gen chem nt a clear tchr in cls(very helpful at office). smtmes goes away from the topic that hard to follow. Tests are mostly the same as suggested problems. show ur interest. try to be upto date.
not bad, has a lot of HW. not much of a study time type so i had to study 3 days before the final. i got 60% on the final with just looking over his PP so if you study more you should be just fine
real nice guy, just wants the best for you. the only problem is that students are real lazy and fail because they don't keep up then give him a bad rating, thats college students for you.
very unclear in class but very helpful at his office. do all the suggested problems and remember them by heart, u'll be fine. but need to work very heard to get the concept. sometimes has favouritism.
Second! His is a real nice guy and jokes around with his students and his P.P are very clear, loads of HW but is ALWAYS free and willing to help out and wants TOO. 4-5 students always in his office
ok first Brunet is awesome due to the fact that he is one of the only teachers at Vanier that wants his students to succeed in their future studies. Main reason for failing his class is pure laziness!
strict and unclear teacher but if u r smart and hardworking TAKE HIM u r going to get an amazing R score!
I don't know why all these bad ratings! This teacher is amazing and wants what best for students. Yes! he asks alot but what ever he asks you to do helps you for the exams he prepares. Best teacher!!!
he's......special!?!? really boring and hard! but if u wanna pass just do great in labs(and report labs), quizzes and pre-labs and get above 50 in ur tests. ull probably pass..i did! :)
To tell u the truth, if u dont wanna work then dont take this teacher, but if u do all the suggested problems and ask him kestions when u dont understand then for shure ull do good,
all my classmates hate him...too strict and hard marker!!!
IF you want the TRUTH , listen: I had phillipe brunet last semester, he is a very strict teacher ,not easy exams where theres always a tricky #. DEMANDING &hard marker for the lab report.¬ helpful!
Very intellegent and organised. Unfortunately, not all teachers follow his teaching model and therefore most students are unable to handle the course due to poor preparation in NYA/NYB. Too bad...
Phillipe Brunet is one of The BEST teachers of VANIER ....you work which is what you will do in university.. So he prepares you...very well explains well, very helpful.. I call him the BRUNE :)
great teacher!! extremely hard but worth it if u really wanna learn chem! (but not if u want a gud grade). hes very helpful (even if u dont speak french!)
Don't take him. His exams are way too hard compared to what seen in class. Even if you work hard and do the exercises, you'll never end up with a good grade. Such boring lectures, he made me hate chem
Got 98.5% in the final exam. Listen in class, do the suggested problems and labs. You will pass.
he is by far one of the best chem teachers @ vanier. he lectures are clear and easy to understand. you just have to do the work and study. you're not gonna have an easy time if you fool around.
I'm in university now, and Brunet prepares for university. The difficulty level in Brunet's class is similar to that in a university course. You might not get a high grade(compared to other teachers).
hez a cool person but hard to understand students. he excpects alot from students. labs are horrible. hard marker. take him if u wanna work hard
Best quality : very helpful outside class and gives excellent study techniques. Very direct, to the point. Not many details but gives lots of examples. Demanding. Cares about students who care.
Got 103% and 105% for two of his tests in NYA. Easy class if you actually learned something from high school.
He's a great teacher, really helpful, well prepared class notes. Study hard and you'll do fine.
If you want to study a looot for a class ...take Brunet for organic1. He is a very good teacher BUT HARD. Quizzes and exams are hard , but if you do good it means you study:) He is helpfull !!!
He is the best teacher in the college. He actuelly teaches his students and prepares them for university (something most teachers lack). Those students who don't like him are the lazy ones
This is the second time I take chemistry. He is a reasonable man. He is a hard marker and asks a lot of theory questions. I did all the work but often came across unexpected questions on the test
Mr. Brunet is a great teacher! His class notes are well prepared and he is always willing to help. You have to work really hard in his class but the end result is amazing (you actually learn a lot).
hes a good teacher although hes a tough marker, his test/quizz r hard but if ur good i mean REALLY GOOD in chem then take him because ur R SCORE is going to get so high since the class average's low!!
don't get discuraged since the begining cuz that's what he wants just study hard and if u are an average people u'll pass with 60... waste too much time...
Nice and devoted teacher, even goes on MSN messenger to help. His tests are not hard, everything on his tests is covered and mentioned in class.
I have to admit that Phillipe is one of the most passionate and devoted teachers I've ever had. Really cares about you doing well, you just have to take the intiative.
Ha, Ha I was right, no one took his class. If anyone reads this you know what I mean...
I don't know why people can rate him high. No one want to take his class, it is the last one to fill. Avoid at all cost.
He's a good IF AND ONLY IF you really want to learn chemistry. If you're the kind of students who want to get good grades without actually working, do not take him. His exams/quizzes are very difficult. He is always there if you need extra help though. Personally, his French accent didn't bother me.
This guy is the best teachr ever for a high R-score. If you want to get a high R-score, ou have to take him. However, he is very hard and have a lo of heory questions and suggested problems and even if you did hem all, his exams are very hard and you can fail them easily. i found him very helpful espacially in his office hours. He helps you in anything.
Nice guy. hard to understand. gives lots of suggested problems.even if u do them all u might easily fail in exams...but good if u want to bust up the R-score coz class avg is always low (gen chem)
This dude is bizzerk! He thinks that chem. is all you do.He is way too demanding; Expects you to solve all his 5 trillion suggested problems, which are basicly all the questions in the book(this doesn't make them suggested anymore).Very hard tests and strict correcting(don't even think about partial marks).Don't even get me started on his lab reports, talk about impossible. His quizes are tests to other teaches. You may feel lost most of the time in his depressing class. Can't deny he's helpful.
good teacher, nice and knows his stuff, is there to help but you gotta really know your stuff...very challenging exams and demanding in labs so be prepared ...
his tests are really hard for general chem. get ready to answer to theory questions! and lab reports are demanding.
He is definitely one of the best chem teachers at vanier, does everything he can for you to succeed. He's fair and really knows his material. His quizes are worth around 15%, not to bad but his test are reasonable challenging, you cant expect organic chem to be easy anyway. He is very clear and to the point, is always helpfull and down to earth. He is a stand up guy and a great teacher. Take him for organic if you arent afraid to work and understand well.
He requires clarity and rates very hard in lab report. Take him, you goes to hang youtself. Funny little. Good teacher if you are excellent. Prepare yourself a lot of question and disturb him as much as possible and else not you fails.
Don't expect to breeze past his class, won't happen. If you're the kind that makes the effort and can keep up, this is where your R score will soar. If you don't want a tough class that can boost your R score because half the class will fail, look elsewhere. Likely the best chem teacher in Vanier.
It is true that he is one HARD teacher. He expects lab reports to contain originality rather than copy out of the manual. His accent is not a prob. but he truly wants his students to succeed. I have to agree its extremely hard with him. But when I got through his course, he completely changed my way of working on assignments and tests. I should thank him for that. The key to succeed his class is to work really, really hard and start workin A.S.A.P.
First of all, he does NOT have a heavy accent, you can understand everything he says,he's really clear actually. And he really TRULY cares about you and is willing to help you whenever you need help... and his tests are not that hard, the questions in the tests are mostly from the suggestive problems and sample tests he gives ..(the hard ones though). On top of it all, this class is good for the r score --> class average 58 :O :D ...u just gotta work and pay attention in class and u can pass
best chem teacher at vanier, his quizes are worth too much (20%) but if your able to study on a weekly basis youll do fine and you actually learn in his class, hes not out to get you, he just wants you to succeed
He's the best chem teacher at vanier, he truly cares about u, always there when u need him. His notes are very clear and exams are ok, with bonus q's. But u have to study hard, esp for organic. Put a lot of time on lab reports. Excellent for the R score, the average is so low (66)
He is the worst teacher ever! His notes don't mean anything! DO NOT TAKE HIM!You will for sure fail one of his exams. Bad accent, can't understand the stuff...
K To all high school students; If you had a average in chemistry of 85% don't expect to get anywhere near that mark with that teacher! Failed with 55%, his tests are hard and he cant teach!!! AVOID!!!
one of the few teachers that will really serve as an example for university teachers whether in his course material or with his students realtions. makes uREADY
So far one of the worst chem teachers i had. He is willing to help, but u wont understand. He discourages u if u dont understand it once, or fail one test. bad!
He's a great teacher and I truly learnt something in his class. He's always there if you have any questions and he usually gives lots of second chances.
I think he's willing to spend time with students, and he's very clear. If he isn't then the students aren't listening. He teaches difficult subjects, so what?
Hard but fair. Nice, helpful to people he thinks are smart. Very good one on one. I would take him again because the class average was so low!
BAD because of his TESTS and QUIZZES! HARD marker too and bad accent! lolz
He's the nicest most helpful teacher ever, but his class needs a looooot of work.
You gotta do somw hwk in his class, but his tests are starightforward. They're hard but nothing's unexpected, except for bonus Qs.
he's a good teacher that knows his stuffs. if you study well, you may succeed his course. but if you do nothing, don't complain that he's tough!
