I fell asleep on her classes pretty much every time. I'm not the type of person who usually does and I'm actually interested in violence and nonviolence but she is a tough grader. She basically wants you to copy what she says and writes of not you won't get higher than 60s. The average is very low in her classes. I do not recommend

The good thing about this class is that the final average is very low. You have about five or six reading summaries to do throughout the semester. If you're smart, you'll do them right away to get rid of them. they're annoying but its doable. You also need to go to her class because she writes notes on the board (very messy, but write as she speaks). These notes are EXACTLY what you need to write on your essay(S). If not, you won't do well. She is very opinionated so just write her opinions.

I had Pat for Violence and Nonviolence and it was without a doubt one of the better classes of my semester. She was always prepared the moment she walked into the classroom, and although my fellow students seemed bored by her lectures, I found the material engaging and captivating. She did her best to have conversations with the class but few people ever participated. As long as you do the required readings (and there are around 50 pgs per week), you can do well in her class. A+ highly recommend

I had her for Women and War two years ago. I am a huge nerd when it comes to feminism and war issues. I loved the subject and how Pat taught the class. It was interesting and I was never bored. However, she is a hard hard marker. The hardest I've had in my Dawson career. She wouldn't give an 80 and above when it came to assignments or exams. And be prepared... for A LOT OF WORK for 2% papers. It was an interesting class with an amazing subject and a cool teacher, but man the grading sucked hard.

Took her for Violence & Nonviolence. She's very passionate about the topic, and I found it to be interesting. If you don't, you won't enjoy the class at all. I ended up with a 90% and didn't find it overly difficult, but the class average was 66%. I'm assuming that they didn't bother putting any effort in because they weren't interested. In other words, if you like the topic, I recommend! She knows her stuff & goes into depth. She's also very nice, especially if you show you're trying :).

A really great teacher, I learned so much. But don't take this class if youre not interested in Women and War (duh) or feminism which you should know already. Any class could be boring if you dont like the topic. Yes its a lot of work but so interesting!

Nice lady but just avoid her. Class is soooooo boring, I fall asleep every time I walk into that class. Repeats the same things every class, you basically don't even have to go just copy the notes off of a friend later. Hard marker, extremely long class and she expects a lot from her students.

She's a very nice woman but her woman and war class will put you to sleep after 20 minutes. The good news is she doesn't seem to care if you sleep. Also, she just repeats herself so much that by the time you wake up, you'll still know what she's talking about. Be ready for some heavy feminism.

Pat is a really nice teacher. Her class is interesting even though it is long. However, she is one of those teachers who will never give perfect marks in an exam. She gives out questions a few weeks early and goes over them with you, but even if you write all she said, you wont get above 90. If you are prepared to do the work and go to class, I definitely recommend her. If you are the kind of student who doesn't work at all, don't. All in all good teacher.

she explains things well and the class is very intresting but she's a VERY HARD MARKER! you have to elaborate on everything you say to get the marks you deserve instead of getting right to the point, you'll think you've done really well n then get your mark and its a fail. not a class to take if your planning to slack, gotta put in 150% to get a decent 70% mark.. GOOD LUCK!

No she still teaches at Dawson. And she is a hard marker. Notes for two hours straight. If not, then it's group work. Boring texts to read. She'll give you a 59.9 on an essay.
