I've had the honour of having Murray as my teacher for three different chem classes. While he may appear completely lost at the beginning of the semester he knows exactly what he's teaching and just has trouble figuring what he should say first. He is very patient with his students and is always much better at explaining something in his office hours. His tests are always fair and more on the easy side. His labs are usually short and straightforward and his lab reports are really relaxed

Even though I struggled with Chemistry of Solutions, I loved the class because he was the teacher! He's funny, energetic, knowledgeable, he makes the class interesting and clear. Be ready for a lot of handouts because that's all you do, barely any written notes. He also does activities to help practice and understand in teams, he's the best! highly recommend

Terrible teacher. Clearly knows material but doesn't know who to explain it well. Tests are about 50x harder than the work he assigns. Better to study off the PowerPoint he posts (one thing he's good at) than take notes and listen and he constantly plays favourites. Recommended to drop course if he's teaching you.

If you do what is told, it is easy to pass the tests. His way of teaching is really good because he makes you practice a lot through Mastering Chemistry. His assignments do take time but it's worth it because if you can understand them, then the tests and the final are easy. He doesn't really use the textbook but it doesn't matter because his explanation in class is really good, and he provides enough practice for the tests and exams. Be sure to keep up with his class, and you'll be fine!
