She is probably the best teacher at Dawson. She is the best English teacher I've ever had and I'm trying to get her again. She is incredibly sweet and knows how to teach. She marks easily. Make sure to read the stories for homework because there will be pop quizzes but they're super easy as long as you read them. Totally recommend her.
Good Luck :)

If you like reading, this is the class for you. I LOVED Louise Slater and I am glad that I took her for my last english. However, coming to class is not necessary because she will talk about the chapters that you were supposed to do but be careful because she would give pop quizzes on them. They can boost your grade a

If you're in a career program don't take classes with her, she is very demanding and if you're not in her class, even if you have to miss her class because of your career program, she won't care, if you're not there in time she will bring surprise quizzes with in the 5 min class starting and will not wait for anyone. She doesn't understand that if you have a career program you have to choose your priorities, she will fail you, she is not understanding of that and she is very heavy with assings.

She is a teacher that tries to be dynamic and interesting. She brought us to a play! She is pretty dorky, she always tries to make jokes, and she's not that much of a hard grader. Just make sure to do all the homework she assigns - There's always a quiz, and sometimes there's even bonus points. A little hardwork and you are capable of reaching an average of 80 and above!

I loved her classes and totally recommand her. As for her exams, they're really easy if you're the type of persons who listens to the teacher in class and does a minimum at home..otherwise, you're screwed. The only part that i found hard with her is writing essays

I really enjoyed her class. Louise is a very nice person : she is considerate towards whatever issues you're having and she speaks in a very low, calming voice. Her insight on the themes behind the novels were eye-opening and clear -- at least for me. Sometimes, she drags on a certain idea for a while which might be "boring" to some, but I found them really interesting. She gives A LOT of reading, and the quizzes are VERY specific & tricky, so make sure you actually read the assigned pages.

Boring class and teacher. There's way too much work and her lecture style will totally put you to sleep. Tries very hard to be friendly and is available in her office but there are more dynamic and interesting teachers out there and I never felt she was comfortable teaching us.

Had her for Nature, technology, humanity. She is a really cool person. But she gives way too much work. The readings she gives are long and must be read within a short period of time. The class itself was interesting but gets repetitive after a while. We read a novel towards the end which was okay. There is a lot of group discussion which is really interesting. There were 2 essays, 2 orals and 2 blogs we had to write online which i thought was fun. Not the worst class but very time consuming.

OMG avoid! Slater is so boring and she uses this really low voice to sound interesting and cool but it will only put you to sleep. I wasn't impressed with her knowledge of the material. If you ask a question, you get a lot of ums but no firm answer. Can't wait till the term is over!

Her Novel class was interesting and she makes the material interesting. She gives quizess on the readings and she drops the lowest mark. Make sure the reading is done because she'll use quotes! She's a bit of a toughie when it comes to essays, but she's always be there for you if you need to speak to her. She's understanding and her oral/seminar was great. She makes the class fun and she's very amusing! If you're the kind of student who cares about English and actually works, she's a great!

Her class The Novel was very interesting and so were the class discussions. She's very nice and is always there for you. Only thing is that she's a hard marker when it comes to her essays. Her quizzes are easy as long as you've read the material in her quizzes she likes to quote and gets students to say who is speaking. You read 4 books, and finish each book within 2-3 weeks with 3 quizzes each book. Also you get graded on class participation and 2 essays. I recommend her.

good teacher. people who say she marks unfairly are just used to slacking off, because if you all your work (it's not that hard) you'll get a good grade. she counts very little thing for grades so do EVERYTHING (including reading the stories from homework since they are mini-quiz material the next day) even if it doesn't seem important, because these are the easiest points to get and the easiest to forget about.
