Lora is a very sweet and knowledgable woman. There are no lectures in her American Dreams class, we just watched movies and had 500 word assignments to do on each film. There were many of these assignments but they're very easy to do and it was easy to get a 90+ on them. I took this as my last English course and I'm so glad I did so. Great and easy way to end my Abbott career.
I had Lora for American Dreams. We just watch movies throughout the semester. (Good movies like Godfather, Fightclub, City of God, American Beauty, etc.) There was a lot of work since we had to write an essay after each movies. (weekly essays). But other than that , really easy and chill class. There is no exam and barely any lectures. We just have group discussion about the movies we saw. Her instructions are really clear and she is really nice. I would definitely recommend her !
for outside the box i watched movies every class it was fun but the weekly essays were insane and she didn't teach much but she corrects your final essay draft like an all-star. really enjoyed the class and analyzing the movies made me appreciate them more, but way too much work. Lovely woman she's very nice
Lora is a nice person, but hardly taught anything. She put on movies and gave you an essay due every single week. The essays were long and sometimes not easy. She's not always clear as to what she wants, but if you ask her directly she'll definitely help to clarify. She's ok, but I hated how she organised the class.
I had Lora for English 101, Outside the Box and i actually enjoyed it despite the amount of work that came with the class. Don't be afraid of taking it! There was only one real oral presentation and it was in a group. Classes consist of watching movies and doing detail assignments on them. She will answer any of your questions very clearly and will meet with you if you need to. She will always have something to say to improve your work.
I had Lora for Outside the Box. You can easily get good grades in her class, but the assignments took a long time. You'll watch a lot of great movies, but any other class will be extremely boring. After week 12, all classes will be cancelled so that can you can write your essay. You do come out of her class having learn something, and she does know her stuff, but she doesn't deliver it in the best way. She's very friendly and approachable if you have any questions though.
If you have to meet her 1 on 1, she will be late and a lot! And you HAVE to meet her for the final essay. For the actuall classes, I had her for english outside the box and it was very repetitive, its always the same thibg every goddam week but with a different movie. The worst part is that you can't skip because you lose points. She cares about her student but she is a bit disorganized.
I love Lora! Had her for Uni II, the classes were so interesting and I learned so much! She made old art history topics more fun by relating them to movies, which we watched in class (4 of them) so that took up a lot of time in the semester and was super chill. There was a fair amount of work but I found it enjoyable and always felt motivated to come to class. Take her!!
She is nice but her classes are extremely boring. Took her for English and i regret it. All you do is watch movies and write essays, every class i was tempted to skip and 4 of the movies I've already watched. Also there's so many orals and you also need to attend all of them, you need to participate or else you lose 2%. The way she grades is also weird an essay of 5 pages counts only for 5% which frankly i don't think is fair, you make one mistake and 1% is gone (seriously?!).
I had Lora for Universe of the Arts III, we watched many movies and our final assignment was to write a 5 page research paper about a topic we had covered in class. I did it on Street Art, and there was an option to get more points if you wrote more, which I appreciated! She is super nice and very approachable.
She is a great person and a nice teacher. There is a lot of work in this class. I didn't find that it was that necessary for a 5% assignment. The minimum was 500 words to write for the assignments but i always went above and beyond. This is not the easiest english class there is a lot of work involved. I found that most of the movies we watched were very strange.
I had her for Literary Genre.
We basically watched movies all semester, she doesn't seem to take attendance, so if your going to watch a movie in class, you can skip it and watch it at home.
Shes a really nice teacher, very approachable and is always willing to help.
If you don't like speaking up or interacting with other students, this class isn't for you.
I had Lora for Literary genres and I loved her. She's very nice, listens and is willing to help all the time! She might be the happiest teacher I've ever met, she's the best:) The work itself is no extra work, like I said, if you have trouble you'll be able to pass no problem.
I took Modern Fiction with Lora. It's a seminar class, so you basically watch movies and do assignments on them and then you have an oral on your group's movie. I loved this class, I got 100 on all the assignments without even trying that hard! I love Lora! I learnt so much from her! She really tries to help each and every one of her students and she's super nice! Take her for sure! You won't regret it! One of the best english teachers at abbott by far!
Loved her as an english teacher ! The course Modern Fiction was really fun, all we did was watch movies and analyse them. Learned alot:)
Had her for Modern Fiction. Seriously the easiest English class ever. We watched like 8 movies this semester. A lot of short assignments, but I wrote them the morning they were due and would get 100%.
I had her for English 103 Modern Fiction. Interesting class, a lot of short writing assignments, and grades very easily. Nobody knows how great and friendly she is until they have someone worse.
This teacher is good, but she gives WAY TOO MUCH WORK, but then again, it's college not high school
Good teacher, explains the material very well, but she tends to give a lot of mini assignments which are not hard, but they can be time consuming
One of my favourite teachers at abbott. Super down to earth, friendly, nice, funny! Love analysing movies in class with her. lots of "small" assignments. Had her for English and Universe of the Arts 3
She is a very nice person. Her class includes lots of great movies, plenty of simple assignments, and it is easy to get a good mark in her class. She makes her class interesting as well as informative
American dreams: really easy, watch alot of movies and wrote short assignments, just do them youll be fine. shes veryyy opinionated, and seems to think that her opinion is the best and only answer
american dreams and realities: easy class, short essays about popular movies, she talks too much, but very easy to get good marks if you write creatively.
easiest grader ever, the whole course you only watch movies and analyze them.very easy point form essays take her if you can
Intro. to Lit - Open minded but likes you to fall udner her constraints (her views & opnions). Easy work, must give your opinion. Orals are boring .. Readings & responses for every class. She's very unorganized and flimsy.
Intr. to Lit.- Cool teacher, likes what she does so its a fun class. Great subject material...reading interesting short stories and watching really good (not widely known) films. Not a lot of work, and the work isn't boring
I took her Intro to Literature class. was really fun and she is a good teacher. Watched the Matrix and V for Vendetta. she is helpful and makes english fun.
Great and fun teacher! Love her arts and letter's class. Although can get boring, watches a lot of film's. She's really nice and is a fair marker. Although never hands back assignments. Definetly worth taking!
Lora is a really nice teacher!!! Her Arts & Letters class is very interesting!!! Take her!!!
Great teacher, best english class i've ever taken. Easy grades, and light work load. Definatly a class to take.
Classes aren't to hard but never hands back grades or gets in contact with you when she says she will!!
Lora is engaging; she keeps you interested and excited about the course material. She the kind of person you feel was meant to teach. Delightful!
SHE IS VERY NICE AND HELPFUL. VERY EASY CLASS AND NOT BORING AT ALL. SHE GRADES FAIRLY, JUST MAKE SURE TO DO YOUR STUFF AND ATTEND CLASS.
SUPERBLY NICE WOMAN! wants you to do well. Very fun/energetic. If i didnt hate absurd theater so much, i'd take her again! I highly recommend her. SHES GREAT!
A fairly easy teacher. Gives many annoying little assignments. Nothing too difficult but the fact that it's sometimes unclear what you'll have to do for her.
I really enjoyed her class. Very intresting class content and shes a really cool teacher as long as you dont get on her bad side.
Lora's the best!Shes passionate & engaging.Approachable&willing 2 help. She does give lots of tedious HWassignments, but if u do them,u'll do great in her class!
best english teacher, i took her twice and loved it. Essays are easy and stories she takes are always good. Highly recomend.
She gives out alot of little annoying assignments, but only has one final essay. Lots of work onm films to keep it interesting, I would recommend her!
Great class, reading was actually interesting, we watched alot of movies. Great teacher.
Lora rocks, it was the easiest class i ever took. She's a lot of fun. Read the stories and do the work and expect great grades! I hope to take her again!
passionate teacher...not hard..fair marker..an overall interesting class!
