At the start of the class, he tells you what you're doing or if you're doing something new, he explains it and gives examples. I wouldn't say he's the best teacher since he has a seemingly mean demeanor and mostly sits at his computer or out of the class. Although he's at his computer/doing something else - he watches you like a hawk. Just be sure to be doing something productive, just don't talk too much to where you aren't productive. He expects you to do everything on your own.
Absolutely horrific and induces tremendous discomfort to his students. First and foremost, he disregards your art if it does not visually appeal to him. When asked for assistance, he replies "no", as he is more preoccupied with Facebook.com, than tending to his students, which is a requirement for his profession. On top of all this, he is ill-tempered, lacks fundamental etiquette and respect towards his students, has an overt authoritarian complex, and emits a repulsive odour.
He is crude and offensive and i seldom hear him say anything positive about student's work. He actually teaches 2 MAYBE 3 lessons in semester and those lessons are unclear and overly-wordy; on every other day he is on facebook or out of the class. He criticizes unnecessarily, for example, i gave him a sketch to review that he said had no detail, that little time was spent on it and wasnt sufficient for the project but when i gave him the same (unchanged) sketch a day later he approved it.
Lol take Mr. Akselrods class instead. This guy is judgmental and always uses the phrase 'this my class, you have to do my work' when people are doing their own art because they finished his easy assignments... He's mega unenthusiastic with his lessons as if someone gave him this job and he was like ..'meh.' He says arguing isn't necessary but he himself starts the arguments with his students... I hear students around the class complaing about him too.
He is not a good art teacher at all to be honest, especially when you are expecting to learn something. He is extremely judgemental and only uses his vision to determine wether your art is good or bad, while neglecting students' creativity or how they want to express themselves. But it doesn't really matter when he spends 9/10 of the class time with his laptop or out of his class lol
Had him for art in grade 8... Not a very good teacher if you actually want to learn. He sits at his computer the entire class while you work. Otherwise he is okay I guess. Good chill block.
Usually out of his class, never comes back or is on his ipad on facebook
His courses are fairly easy, but he is NOT a good teacher. He has a tendency to give his own personal opinions on the students, and has called multiple students "annoying". He often ignores you when you need help, and is constantly out of the room. One class, he left the room and didnt come back until the bell rang! He also rarely explains things clearly, and gives due dates very late, and close to the actual due date (i.e, assigns project, tells you 2 days before its due)
He was okay but he isn't super clear about instructions and Rules. He also is away a lot and leaves the class all the time.
Mr matthieu was my art teacher, hes really nice unless you annoy him like some of my other class mates did. The things you do in his classes are so fun! And i enjoyed being in his class:) Mr matthieu can sometimes be a little bit to quiet and sits at his desk a lot or goes out of the classroom.
horrible teacher, completely uninspiring, takes the fun out of art/photo/whatever you are taking, SUPER **** mood swings and you will not learn anything at all
i was in his drafting class and i learned nothing...he never teaches, he just sits infront of his computer the whole day...
Mr. Mathieu is the greatest!! What a teacher! And a nice goatee to boot!
Overall, his class is enjoyable. However, he can be very unreasonable and critical when he subjectively denies your Artistic idea.
