If you take him for Paradise Lost, make sure you are very interested in the book. Every week there is a quiz. If you did not read the books, you will most likely fail. Also, when he talks in class and says important stuff, make sure you write it down IN YOUR BOOK because you're allowed to have it in hand during the final exam. May the odds be ever in your favor.
Really sweet guy, a bit of a hardmarker but if you put in the effort youll be fine. You have to be present every class for quizzes which count for a good chunk of your mark. I would take him again.
he is a good teacher. if u listen in class you'll do good. he gives a lot of quizzes (almost 1 every class) but they are pretty easy so if u did your work you'll be ok. class can sometimes be boring but he's nice to you if you listen and try in class. He is also an understanding teacher. I recommend him :)
Is it too late now to say sorry? Yes it is! If you fail something he'll hate you. He gives quizzes every class so you have to be present all the time. I have to give him credit for something tho. At the beginning of the semester he was really chill. We would have so much fun (bc I was there 😉). Then, he failed half of the class on the midterm and became very rude. The class was very boring. I would recommend him only if you know you'll be there all the time & if you want to do MANY quizzes.
I had him for english 101 and his test and quizzes are not hard; very easy to pass... but he is a very hard marker when it comes to essays. he does not explain clearly what he wants
I personally liked this teacher. Yes his classes weren't the best, but if you like the subject he can teach you a thing or two. You should read the stuff he gives because he will most likely give a quiz the following class but they're very easy if you read the material. He grades fairly and he helps you whenever you need it. If you won't participate in class and always be absent, then i don't recommend this teacher for you.
He is one of those inspiring teachers that you get out of luck.
His class might be a bit boring at times, but he's a good teacher. He makes you discover a lot of different things and if you just pay attention and do the assigned readings there's no way you won't pass all his quizzes. He offers a lot of examples that you can later use to do the assignments. All in all, if you do your homework, you'll be fine.
Very intelligent and knowledgeable man. His class is no joke, that being said to get good marks you must show up to class and complete his relatively easy hmrwk assignments which might take a couple of minutes to complete at home. I was an 80 avergage student in English while I was in high school but I must say Kevin has taught me much more than I thought I knew when reading and writing the English language. I reccommend this teacher while advising you to show up to class and complete the hmwrk!
If you pay attention in class and do the exercises he assigns, you can't do bad in his class. Class can be boring at times so make sure you find a way to enjoy the class. I found myself forgetting to do the small homework he assigns so make sure you finish it in class or stay organized. Overall he's good teacher!
I had him for Intro To College English. In high school I had gotten very good marks in English but I flunked my first mid-term. He took the time to go over all of my faults and I really do feel that this had a profound impact on my writing. Class does get a little boring, especially if you take a 4 o'clock course, but he is a very good teacher. The main way to succeed in his class is through regular attendence. If you show up, pay attention and do the homework, you'll do fine.
Awful and boring. If you want a class to sleep in. This is it
Worst english teacher i've had so far. Super boring also. I had him for Men
I really liked him and his class. The book was difficult to understand at first but he really helps you with the class discussions and really wants you to do well and enjoy yourself. As long as you do your work, you'll be fine. There are quizzes for every chapter of the book but they're 5 multiple choice questions and each quiz is worth less than 1%.
I had this teacher for Paradise Lost. If you are really good in English literature or you really like poems this class is for you. On other other hand, if you struggle in English avoid this class 100%. I'm not saying the teacher is bad, in fact he is super. But the book is just way too hard to understand.
He is the most caring and helpful teacher I have had so far, although he can be a little long in the explanations, is clear and argumentative.
Overall good teacher, classes can get a little boring if people stop participating but class discussions are always interesting. Just read the material and attend class regularly and you should be fine. The texts also require a lot of analysis so be prepared for that.
he really is a good teacher , he knows he stuff. I had him for paradise lost while most of the class didn't like the class i did actually even if i didn't read the book (it's really long ) but if you do your stuff, listen during class, take notes and everything you'll be able to pass the class.
Personally, I found his Men and Masculinity class fun. Those who complain about his grading simply do not have the proper ability to analyze and argue. Your grade will easily reflect how much attention you paid to your assignments and readings.
He was a great teacher, very helpful, very understanding, made a good effort to help students.
Took his Paradise Lost class the Winter 2012 semester. The class is pretty straight forward, read a ~300 page poem and analyze it. In the beginning, I planned to read it, but started getting lazy and stopped. He can easily sense this! He is a fair marker, and I earned the grade I got. Be prepared to work in his class, it is very analytical! As a teacher, he is very helpful and is as clear as can be. If you need help just ask and he will provide any and all help you need!
Fantastic teacher if you are interesting on actually learning something!
Challenging but fair grader.
I took his Paradise Lost class and he clearly outlined his expectations and was always willing to make time to meet if I had questions. The text was challenging and engaging and there will be no problem if you actually take the time to read the poem. Also, the class discussions are really helpful for analyzing the text's meaning. Just make sure you know you'll be signing up to read a 300 page 17th century poem. If you approach the class knowing what's involved, you'll have a much better time.
His classes can be quite interesting but only if you participate in the discussions. If you don't, itll be a long semester. His essay grading isn't too strict, but his final test is really demanding, so make sure you take notes all semester long.
He is quite monotone but you can see he does like what he's teaching and he really pushes class discussions. The classes where people would actually participate were great because we all have good ideas and would have great discussions. If you read the material, you get 5/5 or 4/5 for the quizzes. He doesn't appreciate it when people skip so he will not help you if you miss class material or quizzes, which is very reasonable
He is a good teacher and he loves his job. He wants students to participates but sadly it doesn't work.
Very monotone. Tends to not give much homework, but his quizzes can be difficult at times. Journals and essays are easily marked, but exams are challenging, and very toughly graded.
Had him for 20th-Century Poetry. Biggest mistake i've made this year. His classes are boring and he's a strict marker. Doesn't send us the powerpoints by omnivox, so if you miss classes, you're screwe
If you like participating and happen to challenge his interpretations or answers, then you'll be shot down for the rest of the semester.
Sleazy guy, not very motivating, can barely get his point across at times and simply drops his incomplete sentences with "...yeah." followed by a nod. Sometimes overly pretentious when attempting to e
Not as bad as people say he is. If you show up to calss, aren't disrespectful, participate in class discussions, and do your work you will pass. The content isn't difficult. People who fail this cours
By far the worst teacher I've ever had in my life. This guy doesn't want to help the students, he helps those who are passing and ignores the rest of the class.
IF U SEE HIM ON UR SCHEDULE DROP THE COURSE !!!! He's boring and a hard marker I felt like a prisoner when i went to class !!! Everyone i knew wld skip that class as much as they cld !!!
WORST TEACHER EVER DO NOT TAKE !!!! He's monotone the only thing you do is read boring stories and have quizzes on them to make sure u do read them !!! This teacher sucks ive never seen a more boring
He's the most boring person in this whole universe if you wanna sleep get into his class, super boring such a hard marker, doesn't care abt the students and very strict
His classes are very boring. Easily pass if you do your work.
okay, i feel bad but he was by far the most BORING teacher of my life, however his class was pretty easy and you could pass it no problem if you do your work. Hes monotone and tries 2b funny n its not
MOST BORING MAN ON THE PLANET his work load is average and theirs like only 3 essays all semester but BORINGGGGGGGGGGG like everyone is sleeping or not in class but you can pass without working
He's a good teacher, but once you participate a lot he starts to ignore you. So those who try to actually drive the discussions and keep the class awake are shut down quite fast. It isnt a hard class
wants you to think he cares about your opinion but won't accept any new points of view, marks easy on homeworks-fails you when essay time comes, unrealistic goals for final, class average 60%
20th Century Poetry - Analysis and discussions about poems every class. Hard to stay awake in 4-6pm class. Gives 10 min. breaks. Lots of poems to read, and journal entries to write. Group work is fun.
the worst teacher....dont care if u fail or pass...really really really....and really and really boring!!! he only cares about poetry!
I loved Kevin Bushell. If you enjoy poetry take him, if you don't, don't take him because classes are essentially discussions about poems. If you don't like poetry and discussions, DONT take him
i dropped the class.. monotoned boring, repeated whatever i said that was correct to the class that he himself did not know... he really nice guy though!
He's a really nice, understanding guy. He cares about what he teaches, and though the class can be boring sometimes, it can also be very interesting when students actually participate in discussions...
Most boring teacher ever! DON"T TAKE HIM, I repeat DON"T TAKE HIM
hes a good teacher...hes passionate about teaching and he doesnt give that much hw but u do have to do work...if ur lazy dont take him...if ur interested in the topic take him
Don't be scared off. He's actually a nice guy and an easy marker if you do your work.
boring, so many poems, thinks hes smart but hes the dumbest guy ever
This guy actually makes you do work! Don't take him if you want to learn anything.
annoying in the beginning, got better and loosened up after! loads of work tho!
he's not so bad, he tries really hard. he's passionate about his teaching.
