It's my first year in her socials class and she's been a very wonderful teacher. Although she can be strict, she provides so much information and I'm never bored in her class. Some say she's hard but if you listen and participate in class, you'll get a great mark!
Excellent teacher, one of my favourites at Churchill. Very knowledgable and very clear.
She is selectively nice, as long as you don't screw something up. She does her job as a teacher really well and I would love to have her for the entire year. ;-; IS is ending soon.
Most of the reviews here are true. I have her for International Studies (useless mandatory Pre-IB class imo) and the workload is pretty lax-- projects and assignments here and there and one somewhat large presentation (45 minutes of hell). It's really easy to get a good grade in her class as long as you contribute and participate in discussions. What's dumb is that if your opinion contradicts hers or if she doesn't like you for whatever reason, you're screwed. Usually teaches us off of handouts.
Savage I.S. teacher. Always picks on the frenchies who cant shut up. plays favorites. tries to intervene with two people always roasting each other in class but fails all the time. overall very knowledgable thats for sure. good teaching style, but a little too much bias.
def. one of the better teachers in churchill. i actually stayed interested in geology! her lecture notes were understandable. as a person she is alright, shes no meanie. her tests and project marking are fair. i once missed a major question in a test by accident and she let me answer it later! WOW how nice. the field trip to whistler was interesting. she is very approachable should you need to seek help.
My very first teacher and she will always be the best socials teacher i've ever had!
Clear method, very knowledgeable. Hard tests but always there to help. She may come off to some people as strong willed but I think that this is simply not true. Nice teacher overall.
She is a good teacher. Her classes are hard and she has high expectations, but you do learn a lot. She makes most of her classes interesting and sometimes has fun activities planned. But be careful when disagreeing with her because she is very opinionated and isn't afraid to argue with you in the middle of class. She is incredibly impartial when marking and is strict in the conventional sense, so make sure to not slack off, participate and you'll be able to enjoy her class.
Geography 12 is a hard work! She doesn't make it easy, but you sure learn a boatload of stuff!
Awesome teacherrrr <3 pretty easy and I learned a lot from her
Effective classroom presence, can be likeable to some. Plays (un)favorites. Hates people showing independent thought/opinions even though her class is about society and she demands parcipation.
i look forward to having her as a teacher next year. yes, she can be strict and intimidating, but she truly cares for both you and your studies. you will love her and her classes!
good teacher overall. can sound pretty intimidating to her younger grades. "her opinion is your opinion"
she is amazing ! super dedicated, fair, you'll learn a lot !
Simply annoying. International Studies is one of the most useless, boring and time consuming courses offered at Churchill.
Good teacher but forces opinions down your throat. IB teacher so she has high standards and doesn't make learning fun. She has a strict definite idea of what she wants and allows no room for error.
Really cool person to talk to. Teaching wise, hmm different story.
She is such an amazing teacher/woman! She hikes and does all this physical activity! A very lovely teacher and she was there to comfort me when I cut a tendon in my wrist on safety glass <3
Have her for IB geo. She prepares you well for the exam (I feel more ready in that class compared all my other ones)
For IB Geography, she's not that great. My main issue with her is that she just gives us readings and doesn't teach. Doesn't explain projects well either.
pretty narrow minded teacher. I think she's conservative. anyways, she seems to always stick with one reason. overall a good teacher.
needs to brush up on her knowledge before classes, but she does try and her lessons are well planned out; her assessments are difficult and her perspective on something won't change, but she's still a pretty good teacher ; somewhat helpful when you need it.
great International Studies teacher. participate a lot and you'll get an A no doubt. and if you're teacher's pet you'll get a REALLY good mark...
lol haha. i don't even have her as a teacher. but she's cool, my friends locker are just outside of her room and she has her way to keep the boys quiet...cool teacher so far. LOL. my ex has her and he said she wasn't that hard. i dunno how she teaches..but she sure is nice..i saw her lending her stuff to her students and stuff.. SO COOL!
i wuz in her class last year. she wuz so awesome. i found her pretty easy=]
A truely nice person. Too cool for school. Advice for most of the kids who have reviews on this list: TOUGHEN UP!!!!
get to know her.... makes the course much easier on you great teacher overall..
she's a good teacher, her tests are okay as long as you study!
she's a very good teacher, but people have to give her a chance. in the beginning she will seem hard, but hopefully some will come to the conclusion that it is allfor the best. i did not like her in grade 10 at all, i thought she was too hard and intimidating. you have to get to know her past the severity, you have to see that she tries her best to help out. don't be so critical of her!! what would you do in her place?
shes a nice teacher for int studies. easy and relaxed pace. as long as you talk in class discussions, thats an A
When I first had her for International Studies, I was nearly FAILING that class. I was lost throughout the year, and was thankful I passed that course. I had her again for GEO 12... and she was actually an awesome teacher. She gave great notes (not too much, not too little) and lots of great diagrams. Her tests are mostly based on provincials, so it's either you've studied, or you haven't. She's fair; sure she may be strict, but it's worth it in the end. Advice: Just don't be on her bad side.
You want an example of how bad she teaches? I'm in her Socials Class. One of her Course Expectations is that we read every night.
Expectations are not explicit, mostly unclear; unwilling to help; send us to IB exams without covering 40% of the cirriculum... ; like to criticize; but nevertheless scales quite significantly; like to lock late people out (esp those that don't listen in class)
It's ironic how her courses are on global perspectives and appreciating different views, cultures, and peoples and yet she shoots your opinions down if your's just happens to disagree with hers. And no, bringing up personal opinions does not count as good arguments, which is exactly what she does.
good teacher but sometimes won't agree with you and then you're in trouble... (unlike mr martin who tries not to be biased)
Can be arrogant and highly biased sometimes but a good teacher.
Don't like her, very condescending. Shoots your ideas down very easily and treats everybody like little kids. Also, arrogant and occassionally rude.
she boring and her hw is sometimes hard to understand, but good we can have partners for projects(yippee)
Hated social studies before until I went to her class! Tests and projects are easy... just work hard and you should do fine in her class
very textbook style, but a nice person to know...don't actually understands what she's teaching, but good enough to get her
She is really good at teacher very responsible but she is a strict and hard working teacher
im sure mrs. ferrario understands all the geo stuff she teaches, BUT SHE ABSOLUTELY CANNOT TEACH!!!!! PERIOD!!!
she's alright. International Studies was fun with her.
She's pretty easy...Gives out really easy mid-term tests...Best part is she can waste a lot of time discussing current events and stuff...
She's alright....kinda boring...mocks us too often, mean look, pointless course of IS
Nice Teacher i guess.. if my gf is getting an A in her class.. shes nice..
Whatever you do, just don't be late for class. She locks you out. Literally.
Presents interesting arguments and facts. Luv the International Studies class> Cool, smart teacher but very opinionated and won't always let you take a stand
straight out of the book, very boring and predictable...she always gave me good grades, so no complaints! just take the notes an do the work-easy tests!!!
too much work; straight out of the book and THE BINDER. boring classes sometimes
Mrs. Kirmis/Ferrario is really the best teacher anyone could possibly have. She's not your average boring textbook kind of teacher. She's nice, cool, creative
She's really nice, but seems to be on a bit of a power trip sometimes. Good teacher though....so no complaints.
nice, not too easy, not too hard, just a lot of work for geography
Hmm...Almost everything is good!;) Keep doin well!:)
WAY better than French... Actually she gave me pretty good grades even though I put in no efforts
Hmm...Kermis, Ferrario..what's the dif?... It seems that she builds her joy over student's sufferings -_-
she loves giving us hard works, but also likes to discourage us by giving bad grades............. everything else is okay
cool teacher...very loud voice...boring...marks too hard
She doesnt know wut she's teaching..straight from books...irrational...irritable
shes ok. dont get on bad side. marks hard. must be creative in class. dont sleep
way better than french.. favours peeps.. (eg. french immersion peeps)
loves critical thinking. very interesting course if ur willing 2 think!
Great teacher with the right attitude ! Put yourself in her spot and see !
She has nooo idea what she's teaching. Favours ppl real bad. Boring...
