If you like politics then you cant have a better teacher. He is very interesting and as a former judge, his experience is invaluable. If you work hard, show up and start the final "dossier" early, then you'll ace it with an above 80 grade, as I did.
He's very, very smart and knows everything there is to know about his subjects. His class requires a lot of effort and you have to do the dossier! (It's possible to do it in one day but i wouldn't recommend). Don't take his class if you don't want to put in effort. Attendance ia mandatory. He's a really nice guy though and helpful if you stay after class.
Meh. His power-point are a nightmare and he seems to enjoy making things overcomplicated. He kinda wants to throw in you face that he knows a lot of stuff (which he does!), but that makes his classes long and boring. He's a really nice man tho.
He sure does know his stuff very well but does not make it clear for his students... do good on your dossier, attend to all his classes. His classes are boring, sorry! he has awfull power point presentation and when teaching he does not look like he cares; always on his phone. I am telling you STUDY bc he does not accept you describing concepts in your own words; learn by heart! outside class he is very kind and funny! if like me you chose this class bc you love politics, u'll be disapointed
Probably the most qualified teacher in the college, he knows what he teaches and nobody can take that away from him. Yes, he may not be the coolest and chill teacher on campus but great preparation for university classes. Be sure to follow all instructions and take down all the notes to answer the exam preparation questions (which are a life saver for his classes) and there should be no reason for you to consider dropping this class.
Cyka Bylat why no rash b?
If you wont work hard, dont take him! You need to have some skills to write down or type the entire notes given. His exams are pretty hard, you really need to work hard to have good grades. The dossier will be the only chance to increase your grade
horrible teacher. He teaches intro classes as if it was a university class for kids in honnors. Theres no reason for him to force kids to know so much in a 101 class. DROP his class if you can
If you're not going to study really hard for his class, don't take it. With this teacher, if you don't wanna fail, it's SO much hard work. He's really smart, but just not fit to be a professor
He's over qualified. I have him for my first semester. I'm used to word very hard but still believe his class is not appropriate for an introduction class. You need to write everything down because his Power Points are not posted online. There's so much writing to do that you can't listen to what he says. His class could be so much more interesting... He's not very helpful.
Great teacher! You need to work hard to pass his class, but you learn a lot and he wants his students to succeed. He gives exam review questions. Half of his test questions come directly from these (find the answers and understand them). The rest is multiple choice on examples of the concept. As long as you pay attention and try to understanding what you are writting down as you take note, you will do great!
I'm in my first year of CEGEP, and I took his Poli Sci course. It was by far very difficult. I see these reviews of him being a bad teacher, HE'S NOT. Yeah, I failed the first exam, but after I had the 3rd highest mark in the class. With an average of 63 and mine being 80. I say this because you can fail easily, but if you study you can do amazing. It's a class for kids who want to learn and aren't afraid of too many notes. I love Dr. Saba, he's funny and very smart. Don't take it if you're lazy
Those who complain about John Saba are only waiting to be crushed in university. This guy is a challenge, yes, but if you work hard in his class, you will be prepared for tough classes in university. He gives three big exams and one Dossier. That is literally it. Just study, take notes and listen and it's far from impossible. He knows many people are taking their education for granted and wants to teach them a lesson, and rightfully so.
He's a nice man but he teaches terribly. I swear, your hand will be in pain by the end of class because all you do in class is take notes. His notes are too long and detailed and he switches the slides too quickly. HE DOESN'T EVEN PUT THEM ON OMNIVOX, so once you missed a note, it's pretty much over! I dropped that course. Bad teacher, but nice guy. You also have to do this dossier which is very tedious.
This is guy is just incredible. He knoes more than the book does. But his exams are extremely hard if you do not study well.
He is a very nice teacher and he is very knowledgeable. But his tests are quite hard and pretty long, you need to study well. All you will do in his class is write notes. He gives good examples and is quite helpful. I noticed that during his lectures he often gives his personal views on things, that can sometimes get annoying. He is most of the time last to his classes.
Most colorful ppts ever seen..saba knows his stuff-well-organized..macro is a tough subject..but he uses good examples..not aq class to chill in..but you learn much
Take good notes. Nice power pts. Now i am interested in political issues He knows his stuff
Awesome course .. Moderate work. Take notes. read book..interesting examples and discussions. Exams were fair. Got an A Saba is a nice guy who cares..I don't understand the complainers..but the college is full of these losers
Bad teacher but you can get high grades by studying a lot for the exam and you will be at least 20% over the final average. Half of the class droped the class after the first week. You take lots of notes and his tests are quite hard
I disliked having this teacher very much, he's notes are awful there are just to many of them, there are pages upon pages of notes that you don't get to finish writing. When it comes to exams he tells you what to study yes but there is so much to study on all those topics that it's hard and within one question there will be at least 3 other questions within that one question to answer as well that he may not have told you that you needed to know about. In general I don't think he is very good
You've got to have a minimum of background and understanding in economics for this class to be easy. I had no clue of the terms before his class, his notes are more than intensive and his exams are rough. His notes might be intensive but when they are complete (which is rare because you never have enough time to copy everything down)they actually can help. Last, If you ask him questions he's got difficulty answering them. Lots of time and energy is to put in this course!
Only had him for three weeks before I dropped the course. In only three weeks I had almost half a note book of notes because he gives SOOOO much notes and his powerpoints are like novels. Every person who had him in the past told me to drop his course, and I have heard there has been many complaints about his way of teaching. In all, DROP THE COURSE.
R score: 36.654, enough said. He is a living legend! He doesn't care about what students think because he's a boss that doesn't have time to waste! How can one not understand this concept? Haters be hating, i be Graduating....
if you don't want to study DONT TAKE HIM. if you want to learn, go ahead! his exams are hard and the note taking is intense! but you learn a lot, nice guy thought!
Good teacher however the note-taking is intense !! If you're good at memorizing you should take his class!
What he teaches is very not clear and forgets stuff. He's not prepared at all and sometimes start screaming in class for no reasons... He also always come in late to make us think he not going to com
10% is given for attendance, 30 for a dossier (if well organized, easy to get over 80%) and 60% for exams that are very difficult. Very interesting and massive note taking. I recommand only if you're
THE WORST TEACHER EVER! DOES NOT REVIEW, THE MOST UNCLEAR POWERPOINTS. HE IS AWFUL! IF YOU WANT TO FAIL, BY ALL MEANS TAKE HIM.
Recommend prof..notetaking important. Good powerpoints.Leaning much.Nice examples.Knew nothing about politics before Saba...now keep talking about politics all the time.
VERY Interesting class..exams require going to class the book reading.. Many good examples- Highly recommend teach, though some work
My best class..Enjoyed the dossier....exams require going to class the book reading..PowerPoints best in Champlain.fast pace and interesting.take whatever he teaches
Talks very fast and doesn't understand how some students don't understand something when he does. he is funny the odd time, and always uses power point and changes the slides so fast you only get half
Macro is required. Theoretical and required. Loved his powerpoints. Good examples. Saba is demanding..but I learned a lot. best of the economic profs
Had him for intro to pol.sci. and got really bored. He basically reads off his unclear powerpoints and makes no effort to make his class fun. Always arrives late. Hard marker. Avoid!!
Took both Poli. Sci and Mavcro with him. Knows his stuff..Demanding..go class and read book..you will learn alot
2 of us just wrote last test.. dossier marks were good..hope exam ok. some work, but learnt alot
A grade for Prof..Great for Students who want to learn
The only good thing I can say about him is his powerpoints...but he will keep on saying that he does the best powerpoint. He will give you a big project to do, that he won't even look at. If it is nea
john saba is a hard grader but if u study hard u will pass his course. i dont think his introduction to political science really is simply an introduction since it was so detailed and sometimes hard t
Great class..Loved power points. Listen to exam hints. Don't listen to complainers..they are just lazy. He gives you all you need...and subject is interesting
He is great! Take whatever he teaches..The 2nd course with him is even better than the first..buy goggles for the awesome powerpoints..and Enjoy..
hard class, he gives way to many notes, my arm hurts at the end of class
The teacher is helpful but his class is boring. You won't do anything apart note-taking for the whole semester.
If you're a smart and intelligent person (IQ > 125), you'll find Dr. Saba being one of the best teachers you ever had.
Starting 2nd course with him.Same approach as Macro. Well organized. Power points again nicely done..deserves Oscar for them. Got over 80 in Macro. Take him..but you will have to take notes
Enjoyed Macro..great teacher . Rainbow PowerPoints. Theory came to life with daily examples... u won't regret taking him.. now enrolled in his Political Science course
Bring a laptop if you care about the wellness of your hands. His notes are so long, that you barely have time to listen, let alone write/type them down. PS: he likes to boast about his powerpoints.
Loved class..nice teaching approach.Colourful PowerPoints. He puts days preparing them.Macro came to life with examples... Recommend course
Loved class.. Interesting stories, good examples.. Take a lot of notes, read text
Friendly caring Instructor. Well-organized. Knows his material. Class stuctured..Like everyone says, Best Power Points at Champlain...maybe aq little too colorful. Gives even so so students a break
Best Power Points in Champlain.. Great examples..Knows his subjects..Got over 80 by taking a lot of notes and reading book..Highly recommend this Prof
Astonishingly the best Power Points at Champlain. Demanding but fair teacher.I get great marks; but, must study the class notes and books. You learn a lot. Recommend him.
very intellectuel person. his power points are too detailed and his exams relate mostly with the textbook not the notes. if you dont read the textbook, you will fail.
Simply the Best..Some students are lazy. but, if you want to learn, he gives great examples, is well organised, nice Power Points..and sometimes funny
lots of notes!!! but clear power points. A lot of material to study for the tests.. (political sc.)
Excellent teacher, sometimes funny. Macro is 2nd course with him. More theory than Pol. Sc. Great power points. Many notes. Love his examples. Nice guy. Cares for students. HIGHLY recommended!!!!
BEST Instructor in my 2 years. Fabulous power points. Follows text in Macro. Interesting examples in Pol.Science.Note taking required. Passes most students..Loved his classes & stories.Nice &caring.
gives alot of work and is very boring but is a nice guy.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!!!!!! hes the worst i've ever had and i've had some pretty bad teachers.... anybody BUT John Saba is worth taking
do NOT take this teacher. seriously, anyone else, but not him. trust me, just trust me.
lots of note but if you do the dossier and study for the test you will do fine.
Hes a nice guy .. But you really have to show up and do the dossier !!! Long tests .. but overall ok.
My hand cramps up every class, so far I have sixty pages of notes and im not even done my semester. He explains everything but his tests are long and boring.
Notes start to end.Hard tests but even if you get 50% on all of them as long as you attend classes you get 10% bonus and 30% from dossier.Had him 6 hours a week in Macro and Poly Sci but still passed.
i paged my notes and acutally have 41 pages, u have to be fast copying the notes, exams are long n difficult, multiple choice are all similar answers but its ok as a teacher
my hand still hurts from note taking and finall when it came to exams well the notes he made us take wee useless and we simply had tu read the book. we coul have read the book all this time......
Copying the projector for an hour and a half, two times a week. Good notes. HARD TESTS. Talks about his girlfriend all the time...........
Avoid this teacher. If not, you will be forced to write notes from the very beginning of class until the very end (and he will actually yell at you to write faster)! Tests=hard...
He's a nice guy but his class is tiresome. Note taking all class(Write fast). His tests are extremely hard. But he does let you know all the info you need to pass. You just have to really study it. He'll sometimes give notes then test u on textbook.
Doesnt teach at all, just sits at his laptop the whole class and reads notes which he edits in class also instead of doing that at home. Also talks about him partying, basicaly lazy unhelpfull teacher.
lots of notes, but tests are based on common knowledge and they're really easy
Test are very hard although he doesnt acknoledge that fact and its note taking all semester.
Classes are just note taking. Very hard tests. But he's a pretty cool guy. If you can get him ask him if he likes to be whipped.
u can tell he knows wut hes teaching but its all notes. boring. tests are extremely difficult.
suoer well organized...study and take notes and you do well...nice guy
The notes are painful! Sleeping is what there is to do during his classes, he's often late though, so that's good! Class is hard and so are the exams, to avoid!
terrible notes, boring class, get notes of someone who had him previously, study them and you will pass, same notes every semester
a tough course. a tough teacher. you need to work hard!
TONS of notes on crappy overheads, but he's pretty cool.He spent the first 50 min. of class ranting about Dubya. I thought he was a really great teacher.
ZzZzZzZzZz huh?!!? oh right...sorry i just came back from his class...
you copy millions of notes that can be shortened to 1 tenth the size, should use his brilliant mind to explain more while you write less. for dossier make it pretty, dont worry about your content
he's a hard teacher all u do is copy off the overhead projector avoid him!!!!
so many frickin notes, but the exams are extremely easy
I'm surprised ANYONE could read off those cramped acetates he uses >_<
So many incomprehensible notes, hard marker, ridiculous final project! UGH!!!!!!
ask second years to give you the notes and listhen in class, hard test
So many notes, I thought my hands would fall off... Yet, such easy exams...
