one of the most complex teachers at Dief. She is known as this horrible bitter teacher, but in reality she is an amazing teacher who is just a little rough around the edges, but a hard marker. Believe it or not, she is actually really funny. I couldn't get past her marking and I don't understand how they allow it, she makes up her own little making system and decides what's right and what's wrong and I just don't feel like it's fair. Extremely knowledgeable, but fast and intimidating.

She's okay at teaching, but a horrible marker, and only accepts her way of doing work. She is a nice person, but a really bad teacher. I've had moments when I had all the answers correct, but used a different method, and failed tests. Many times her methods aren't clear and screw students over.

Let's just say I'm excited to have a student teacher come in for the last month of classes because I am sick of seeing Charney and excited to raise a tiny bit of my mark with her. And is it allowed under the school rules to call your students stupid anonymously in front of the whole class? I'd expect her to have thought something was wrong with herself when she realized that her class averages were low when she started teaching 37 years ago.

Her marking style is BS and I cannot keep up with her. She makes me so insecure I've considered drinking bleach so I won't have to attend her class.

Okay, lots of people say that she is horrendous and a very hard marker, but she does explain each concept fluently and goes in depth. She is better than a couple of the other science teachers in Dief, and deserves more respect. Good teacher to have.

I wouldn't necessarily say she is nice. Her notes are pretty good, but sadly her tests/ quizzes seem to always have something we were never taught to fully understand, or understand the concept better. being late a BIG no, hard tests/marker.

I'm usually really good at chem but by having her as a teacher it's really hard to get a good mark. I may know my stuff but my marks do not show it. Note taking is okay, although she misses some points and puts them on the quiz or test. I'm not sure if she wants you to do bad. All I know is that if she has the opportunity to take a mark off a quiz or test, she will. It's more like she checks the tests for every little small wrong mistakes than the correct answers. Hard and annoying marker!!

Fairly nice teacher, but (for those who come in late a lot)be prepared, she won't mark your homework checks if you're late. Also, very hard marker on quizzes and tests.

She was an average teacher, but a hard marker...and she teaches stoich. a lot more differently than most teachers that when I took chem once again and needed to remember stoich. I didn't understand what my current teacher was teaching and had to relearn everything.

Knows her stuff. Really makes you work to try and pass but uh, marking is unnecessary. Be prepared for negative marks on a question. Really unfair but her teaching is clear and understandable.

Hard marker, REALLY hard. She doesn't explain the material throughly, usually she explains half way and throws the rest for you to solve on your own. If you ask questions, she'll just read the question back to you.

She is by far my favourite high school teacher. Yes, she is tough, but she explains things so well and is there to help you if you need it. She's one of the few that actually prepare you for University. Ms. Charney is awesome; anyone who wants a good teacher for Chemistry or Science should definitely pick her!

She's really good at teaching. I really wish she was an easier marker. She really knew her stuff though and really funny. Although my marks don't show it though, I DO KNOW MY STUFF! I understand her reasoning behind the hard marking, but I would get the message just fine if she gave me partial marks instead of a 0 for an entire question. Overall really good!

Mrs. Charney is one interesting teacher. She really really wants you to do very well in her class and will bend over backwards to help you understand the material. She teaches very clearly. However, her tests are HARD! If things are not 100% perfect, you will loose marks on even the smallest things. ie: missing one sig dig will earn you no points for the entire question even if everything was done correctly. It is for this reason that in Chemistry 20 I knew my stuff but my marks didn't show it.

I loved Ms. Charney. She was my favorite teacher in high school because she made us learn. Now that I am graduating, I owe her my great science marks. Thanks, Ms. Charney!!

She's INSANE when it comes to marking. If your test isn't 100% perfect expect to lose full marks on pretty much nothing. That said, she's a good teacher. She's organized and explained everything quite clearly.
