I had this teacher for french 102 and I honestly liked his class and learned a lot in it. Only thing that was annoying was that he would make every student participate. He gave homework every week and you needed to do it because he graded them. Other than that he was a good teacher. Normal grader; class average wasn't too high and its possible to do really well in his class if you can write french essay well.
At first he looked intimidating and not cool, but as you go along through the semester you'll see that he cares about his students. Very good teacher, gives homeworks, just do them and you'll be fine(they are easy). His tests are very easy also, all basic stuff. Very approchable, does some psychological games that are kinda cool and funny. I would definitely like to have him again as a teacher!
Don't take him if you have trouble in french and don't like to talk in class. He clearly favors students who participate more and joke around with him. He picks on students to read and answer questions and he can be intimidating. Strict on presentations, need to know your material well, he'll fail you if you memorize it word for word or read off cue cards. Tests aren't too hard. He checks homework every class so that can boost your mark and it's fairly easy.
My favourite thing about him is how organized he is. You will know exactly what is happening on what day (test, what you'll learn, due dates) because he writes it on the outline. He is pretty funny, we did 2-3 fun psychological games/tests, his tests are very straightforward... I think he is the best french teacher I've ever had. Highly recommend that you take him BUT LISTEN TO HIS RULES!
Overall, he's really nice once you get to know him. I found him a bit intimidating at first but I realized how much he cares about his students. You need to study and put in some effort to do well though. He does like to call names out to get people to participate which was stressful at first but you get used to it. If you're comfortable with French, take him
He is a great teacher and he explains very well, he gives homework every class ( you have to read a text and answer a few questions) and the exams are easy as well. You have to do a presentation of about 6-10 min and it counts for 15% .
He puts you on the spot very often. He likes to do psychological games. He is easy going. You should take one of his classes. Very funny
Great teacher! My favorite teacher of the semester. He has a good sense of humor and teaches very well.
Mr. Melancon's class is a mixture of creative and technicalities. He is great a having fun, but one could be bored once he enters his material's technicalities. Keep up with the workload and his class is a breeze. He is also very approachable and fun to talk with.
Jacques class was one of my favourites this semester. He is strict and it's not an easy class for people who aren't good in french, but the atmosphere in class was Amazing ! he has a great sense of humour, wears funky sweaters, and is very laid back. he has the students best interest at heart and it shows. the only thing that could be a downside is if you're shy because he likes to pick students to read or answer questions. definitely recommend his class though
Idk why somepeople sait its stressful, we had a lot fun in class, we were laughing hard. Maybe the oral is stressful, but just pretend you gonna teach the subject and it will be easy.
Amazing teacher! He often puts you on the spot, and is a very demanding teacher especially for a french class, but I learnt more in a semester than I ever did in my life. Recommend him if you don't slack off!
Learned more in this French class than I ever did in highschool. Although there could be a lot of work, he lets you do class work in groups and often does fun exercises with the class.
Very stressful class. He names students one by one to read texts and do exercises. He's very good at putting you on the spot. If this kind of thing stresses you out do NOT take his class. He knows his material perfectly, but he has a hard time putting himself in his student's shoes. He doesn't understand that the students don't understand the material like he does so he will just repeat the question to you over and over. He is very rigid, the classroom has an awkward feel, not very pleasant.
Finally, a french class where i actually learnt something! Anyway, the class isn't a joke (hint hint, if you're one of those idiots from social, get another french teacher unless you want to get slammed). If you work fairly hard it will reflect in your marks
Very strict but if you are willing to work hard, he'll appreciate that and show it in your marks. DO NOT EVER BE LATE TO HIS CLASS.
Pretty strict, but if you show enough effort, he'll like you and even add points to your final grade.
honestly i liked him ... he is a really tough grader and you really have to work to pass his class. if youd like a challenge take him. he also corrects quickly. if u have him you will be stressed tho.
He's good and clear, but I think he rates strictly the orals.
Good teacher. A bit strict on marking, but fair overall. Recommended.
Great teacher! I wouldn't exactly call his class easy, but it is very fair. He also corrects everything really fast!
He is very intertainnin, funny, he is always willing to help but he is very stricked in his marking especially after he explains the proper method of things
hes not nice he makes u feel bad and he is very unfair
really funny teacher. do the homework and review for your tests, and you'll do fine. he seems sketchy but is actually a great teacher
he has a temper, but if you get on his good side he has a good sense of humour. He's not as bad as he seems. I was expecting worse.
Easy and entertaining class but he loves French a bit too much. This guy would be good at elementary school though.
he fixes the class average to be high, too lazy to teach!!!
strict but nice, do your work and it's an easy class
Nice guy, strict in class, pretty helpful, easy material
