this is one of the teachers your DO NOT want. No use of textbook, and learn useless stuff not in the course. You have to learn everything by yourself. If you have him for IB consider dropping and for normal program just ask the ib's for their notes and your should do fine

He's a very interesting teacher. Very eccentric and probably the furthest thing from a traditional high school teacher. He rarely uses a textbook and teachers things that the believes are important in a way that he believes will be best. Sometimes this works and you learn things in a way that will stick with you for years in the future, but the rest of the time, you'll miss out on critical material, which isn't ideal when studying for IB exams.

I wouldn’t have learnt half the stuff he taught us if I went to any other teacher’s course. If only all the other teachers could teach like him. He keeps you active. He is by far the only teacher that promotes a proper learning environment, where no one is penalised for mistakes. As long as you put in the effort that is required, you will excel in his class. To all those students, who slack off and do not put in the effort, you only have yourselves to blame. Mr. Jacobs is a great teacher

His philosophy for teaching is good but it's very obvious he put next to no effort into our lessons and didn't bother learning the cirriculum before teaching us. He wastes a lot of time in class and barely covers anything adequately. Every test and exam is a terrible surprise.

The way he teaches is very different, this is a good and bad thing. The bad part is the exam difficulty, it was nothing like the review he gave us. The good part is his explanations, and also his offer to help the students at any time. He isn't the guy to check homework, but if you don't do it you are actually screwed, DO YOUR HOMEWORK!

Good teacher, but the fact that there is no given outline for tests, quizzes, and the lack of textbook during the entire course kind of stumped me. Funny, but PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS

Last time my review got erased.. as i said before, his philosophy of teaching which exempts the use of a textbook to me, is a failure. I did not learn anything from his class, except the fact that he uses the smart board to teach. But even then, he didn't effectively use it.

Jacobs is a great guy although alittle quirky at times. Do study and memorize his "story" or else. If you have him everyday will be a surprise because he makes up the curriculum as you go. His EVALUATIONS are hard if you don't understand and you get no textbook! Grade nine science was okay but it could have been way better. Do well on the exam:)

I had Mr. Jacobs for grade 9 science, and his class was a thrill. Although his teaching style was different, he knows how to connect with his students. He wants people to do well in his class but you have to work hard. I got a 93 because he gave me my exam mark so do well on the exam.

He's a really nice teacher, but he goes way off topic in class. If you're a textbook learner, this is not the right class for you. It was hard to understand concepts because we never learned the theory behind things. I understand he is trying to take a different approach to teaching, but pure hands-on labs are pointless without the basic foundation from the textbook. He is also very disorganized. Had multiple tests returned with coffee stains and chewed up from his dog.

Interesting take on teaching , but I don't think this is the profession for him. Although he tries to make the course different with labs and hands-on learning, it's hard to follow and some of us don't quite understand. Most of the times, I'd ask him textbook questions & still be left clueless after he explained it.

He would be a phenomenal university prof, but I don't think that he teaches properly for a high school. He teaches in a very strange yet interesting way. He believes very strongly in understanding the material rather than memorizing it and uses pictures to explain the majority of the concepts. He teaches the core curriculum very quickly and then moves on to lab-based learning, which is interesting and helps most understand the material better, but some people don't learn well this way.
